The 13-inch MacBook Air introduced in 2020 is a thin, fanless laptop built around Apple’s M1 chip. Its strongest case is portability, a sharp wide-color display, and manufacturer-rated battery life; its main practical compromise is a pair of ports and support for just one external display. For a used purchase, verify the exact configuration and battery condition rather than relying on a seller’s “A2337” shorthand.
What does A2337 identify?
Apple’s model-identification guide lists the M1 MacBook Air (2020) separately from the Intel-based MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020). The M1 model’s internal identifier is MacBookAir10,1. A2337 is commonly used to identify the M1 13-inch Air, but the identifier alone does not confirm the condition, memory, storage, or exact configuration of a used unit. Check the Mac itself and its configuration before buying. Apple’s identification guide shows the distinction.
What do you get, and what does it mean in use?
M1 performance and configurations
The M1 has an 8-core CPU with four performance cores and four efficiency cores, a 16-core Neural Engine, and either a 7-core or 8-core GPU. Apple offered 8GB or 16GB of unified memory and SSD configurations from 128GB through 2TB. Configuration matters: memory is not a casual later upgrade, so choose a unit with enough memory and storage for the work you expect it to do.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Apple’s 2020 launch announcement claimed the CPU was up to 3.5 times faster than the previous-generation Air, graphics up to five times faster, and machine-learning workloads up to nine times faster. Those are Apple’s launch-era comparisons, not independent benchmark results or a guarantee for every app. Software compatibility also matters: an app built for Apple silicon may behave differently from one that relies on Intel-era software support.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Display and everyday features
The 13.3-inch LED-backlit IPS Retina display has a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels (227 ppi), a stated brightness of 400 nits, P3 wide color, and True Tone, according to Apple’s technical specifications. The laptop also has a backlit Magic Keyboard, Force Touch trackpad, Touch ID, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 720p FaceTime HD camera.
Fanless design
The M1 Air has no fan. Apple described the fanless design as enabling silent operation in its November 10, 2020 launch announcement. That makes it a particularly quiet design, though the available evidence here does not establish performance under a specific sustained workload.

How long does the M1 MacBook Air battery last?
Apple rates the 49.9Wh battery for up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing or up to 18 hours of Apple TV app movie playback. These are manufacturer estimates from controlled testing described in Apple’s technical-specification footnotes, not guaranteed runtime for every workload. They also cannot predict the remaining runtime of a used laptop: battery age and condition matter. The included power adapter is 30W USB-C. Apple’s specifications and test notes provide the figures and conditions.
Which ports and external displays does it support?
The laptop has two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports and a headphone jack. Both USB-C ports support charging, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3 up to 40Gb/s, USB 4 up to 40Gb/s, and USB 3.1 Gen 2 up to 10Gb/s. Apple specifies support for one external display up to 6K at 60Hz. So, if your setup requires two external monitors, the native display support is a meaningful limitation; do not assume a hub or adapter will turn it into a supported dual-display configuration.

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
A hub or video adapter may be useful if you need more connections or a particular display connector, but check compatibility with the exact device and display before choosing one. With only two multifunction ports, connecting accessories can also mean using a hub or giving up a port.
Is the M1 MacBook Air still worth buying?
It can suit someone who wants a light, quiet laptop for everyday tasks and values its high-resolution, wide-color display. Apple lists its dimensions as 11.97 inches wide, 8.36 inches deep, and 0.16–0.63 inches high, with a weight of 2.8 pounds. Its age and two-port design make the actual unit, configuration, battery health, and purchase terms central to the decision.

How does it differ from the Intel 2020 MacBook Air?
They are separate 2020 model families, not alternative names for the same laptop. Apple identifies the M1 model as MacBookAir10,1 and lists it separately from the Retina 13-inch Intel model. Before comparing listings, establish which processor is in the machine; then compare the configuration, the apps you rely on and their Apple silicon compatibility, display and port needs, battery health, price, warranty, and return terms. The available specifications do not establish a current price comparison or the condition of any particular used unit.

What should you check before buying a used A2337?
- Confirm the model and configuration. On the Mac, check the model information and verify that it is the M1 2020 Air, not the Intel 2020 Air or a later generation. Confirm the memory and SSD capacity on the actual unit.
- Inspect battery information. Ask to see the unit’s battery health and cycle information. Original battery ratings do not reveal the present condition of an older machine.
- Test the essentials. Check the display, keyboard, Touch ID, trackpad, headphone jack, and both USB-C ports. Confirm that charging and any display connection you need work as expected.
- Read the terms. Check the seller, warranty, and return policy, especially if you cannot inspect the laptop before purchase.
Apple provides a repair manual for the M1 2020 Air, published April 8, 2025. It covers troubleshooting and procedures for components including the battery, display, logic board, keyboard/top case, and input/output board. The manual’s existence does not establish repair cost, novice repair difficulty, or parts availability in every region.
How Apple describes its environmental impact
Apple’s 2020 13-inch MacBook Air Product Environmental Report gives a footprint of 161 kg CO2e for the M1 256GB configuration and 181 kg CO2e for the M1 512GB configuration. The report also says the product used 71 percent less energy than the ENERGY STAR requirement under Apple’s stated method. These are manufacturer-reported figures for the specified configurations and methodology, not an independent current lifecycle assessment or a general estimate of a particular owner’s energy use.
