No. Lorex is no longer part of FLIR. FLIR acquired Lorex in 2012, then sold Lorex and its retail and small-business security operation in February 2018. Teledyne acquired FLIR in 2021, after that sale, so Lorex did not become part of Teledyne FLIR through the deal.
How Lorex and FLIR were connected
Lorex began as a privately held company founded by the Klein family in 1991, according to Lorex’s company history. FLIR’s acquisition announcement says it completed its purchase of Lorex on December 20, 2012, making Lorex a wholly owned FLIR subsidiary. FLIR’s filing documents that acquisition.
That ownership relationship ended when FLIR completed the sale of Lorex and its Toronto-headquartered retail and small- and medium-sized-business visible-spectrum security products business on February 6, 2018. FLIR announced the completed sale the following day. It said the businesses generated $140 million in revenue in 2017; that is FLIR’s reported figure for the businesses it sold, not a current Lorex revenue figure. FLIR’s divestiture announcement also quoted CEO Jim Cannon saying the sale would let FLIR focus its security business on critical infrastructure and enterprise customers.

Teledyne completed its acquisition of FLIR on May 14, 2021, three years after FLIR sold Lorex. Teledyne said FLIR would operate under the name Teledyne FLIR. The sequence matters: Teledyne acquired FLIR after Lorex had left FLIR’s ownership, so the Teledyne transaction did not bring Lorex with it. Teledyne’s acquisition announcement describes the 2021 deal.

What is reported about Lorex’s later ownership?
A 2026 Texas Attorney General filing states that Dahua sold Lorex to Taiwan-based Skywatch Inc. on November 24, 2022. This later ownership detail is reported in the filing; Lorex’s current store pages do not independently confirm a present parent company. The filing is available on the Texas Attorney General’s website.
Is Lorex the same company as FLIR?
No. Lorex and FLIR are distinct businesses today, although they shared an ownership relationship from FLIR’s 2012 acquisition until its 2018 sale. Lorex continues to sell security cameras, recorders, complete systems, and accessories through its U.S. store. Its storefront currently describes Lorex Connect, Lorex Classic, and Lorex Pro app experiences, but the right app and system compatibility depend on the particular product. Check the product’s official compatibility details rather than assuming that shared history means a camera, recorder, or app will work with another system. Lorex’s U.S. store provides its current product and app information.
