The Logitech MX Master 4 is worth considering if you will use its programmable controls, haptic feedback, Actions Ring, and multi-device switching regularly. It is a less compelling buy if you want a light, simple mouse or a battery you can replace yourself: it weighs 150 g, relies on Logi Options+ for key workflow features, and launched at a premium price.
What’s new in the MX Master 4?
Logitech announced the wireless MX Master 4 on September 30, 2025, positioning it for creative professionals, developers, and business users. Its main additions to the MX Master formula are a haptic touch area and the Actions Ring, a software overlay that provides quick access to shortcuts and tools. The mouse also retains the series’ emphasis on programmable controls, scrolling, and switching among devices.
Actions Ring requires Logi Options+. Logitech says it can reduce repetitive mouse movements by up to 63%, based on a 2025 Ergo Lab study involving 37 MX Master mouse users performing eight desktop actions. That is a manufacturer-reported result from a specific study—not a general guarantee of faster work.

Customizable controls and haptics
The MX Master 4’s strongest case is its workflow customization. Haptic feedback and Actions Ring offer another way to access tools, while Logi Options+ supports deeper customization, including app-specific shortcuts. These features are most valuable if you configure and use them in the applications you work in; they matter less if you rarely change mouse settings.

Scrolling and tracking specifications
Logitech advertises MagSpeed scrolling at up to 1,000 lines per second and specifies a Darkfield sensor with resolution from 200 to 8,000 DPI. The company says the sensor tracks on virtually any surface, including glass. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent test results.
Switching among up to three devices
Logitech says the mouse can pair with up to three devices and switch between them. With Logi Options+, it also describes transferring files between devices. This setup can suit someone who regularly moves between computers, but it adds software dependence to the workflow.

Rechargeable battery and quiet clicks
Logitech rates battery life at up to 70 days per full charge. It also says one minute of USB-C charging provides up to three hours of use. Both are “up to” figures from the manufacturer; actual results can vary with use.
Logitech claims the clicks are 90% quieter than those on the MX Master 3. That comparison applies to the named predecessor, not to mice generally.

MX Master 4 cons and caveats
Premium launch pricing
Logitech announced a launch price of $119.99 in the United States and €129.99 in Europe. In a February 2026 review, Tom’s Guide listed $119 and £119 and identified price as a drawback for some buyers. Retail prices and bundles vary by market and change over time, so check the current price in your region before deciding.
Its 150 g weight may not suit everyone
Logitech’s specifications list a weight of 150 g and dimensions of 128.15 × 88.35 × 50.8 mm. That makes it a substantial mouse, not a lightweight option. Whether its shape, weight, and thumb controls feel right depends on your hand and grip; evaluate the fit for yourself rather than assuming it will suit every user.

Key workflow features depend on software
Logitech identifies Logi Options+ as the app for Actions Ring and deeper control customization. If you use a work computer where installing utilities is restricted, or you prefer not to run mouse software, check whether the features you want will be available in your setup before buying.

The battery is not user replaceable
The official specification lists a 650 mAh battery and says it is not user replaceable. That is a trade-off for buyers who prioritize serviceability and long-term repair options.

It is an evolution, not a complete redesign
Tom’s Guide described the MX Master 4 as an evolution rather than a revolution and judged that the haptics might feel gimmicky. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not an objective verdict: the haptic feature’s value depends on whether you like the feedback and use the associated controls.

Is the MX Master 4 better than the MX Master 3S?
The clearest distinction established by Logitech’s announcement is the MX Master 4’s haptic touch area and Actions Ring. Logitech also claims its clicks are 90% quieter than those of the MX Master 3. The available evidence does not establish that every user should upgrade: Tom’s Guide characterized the 4 as an incremental evolution, and the value of its new features depends on whether you will use them. Compare the current local prices and decide whether the added haptics and software overlay justify the difference for your workflow.
Alternatives and who should consider them
RTINGS identifies the Keychron M6 and Logitech M720 Triathlon as lower-cost alternatives with similar comfort or features. That does not establish exact feature parity or current prices, so compare the current specifications and pricing before choosing. A lighter or simpler general-purpose mouse may be a better fit if you do not need the MX Master 4’s workflow controls.
- Consider the MX Master 4 if you want programmable controls, haptics, app-specific shortcuts, and switching among multiple devices—and will use those features often enough to justify the cost and weight.
- Look elsewhere if low weight, simple setup, or a user-replaceable battery matters more than workflow customization.
Compatibility and Mac version
Logitech’s product page specifies compatibility with Windows 11 updates from the end of March 2026 onward. Check the current manufacturer page for your exact operating-system version and software environment before buying.
RTINGS reports that the Mac variant has the same Windows and macOS compatibility as the standard variant. It omits the Logi Bolt USB-C receiver but remains compatible with one; bundles may differ by region. Confirm the contents of the specific regional package you are considering.
