The best Logitech MX Master 4 alternative depends on the hand position and controls you actually want. Stay with the MX Master family with the MX Master 3S; choose the Razer Pro Click V2 for a conventional ergonomic shape with multiple connection modes; choose Logitech Lift or the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition for a vertical grip; or move to the Logitech MX Ergo S if you want a trackball.
Those are different designs, not a universal ranking. Official specifications establish features and battery ratings, but they do not prove that one mouse is more comfortable for every hand or that any model prevents or treats pain. Use the guide below to match shape, scrolling, software, connectivity and local price to your setup.
At a glance: which MX Master 4 alternative fits you?
| Mouse | Best fit to investigate | What is established | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech MX Master 3S | You want to remain with the MX Master family | Logitech lists it in its current mouse catalog | The catalog does not provide a complete side-by-side specification or current price |
| Razer Pro Click V2 | You want a conventional ergonomic mouse with configurable controls | Razer lists an extended thumb rest, dual-mode scroll wheel, programmable controls, Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless and USB-C wired use | Battery and feature statements are Razer’s claims; no hands-on comfort comparison is established |
| Logitech Lift | You prefer a vertical mouse shape | Logitech lists Lift in its mouse catalog | No individual comfort or medical benefit is established by the catalog listing |
| Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition | You want a vertical design in the Pro Click line | Razer presents it as a distinct vertical model | Check operating-system, retailer and regional details for the exact configuration |
| Logitech MX Ergo S | You are willing to control the pointer with a trackball | Logitech’s catalog calls it an advanced wireless trackball | It is a different control method, not a like-for-like mouse |
Before buying, verify stock, warranty and price in your country. A product’s launch price or a manufacturer’s battery rating is not the same as a current street price or an independently measured result.
What the MX Master 4 offers as a baseline
Logitech’s current specification page describes the MX Master 4 as a wireless mouse using Bluetooth Low Energy and a Darkfield sensor. Its stated sensitivity range is 200–8,000 DPI, and its battery capacity is 650 mAh. Logitech rates the rechargeable battery for up to 70 days; that figure is a Logitech rating rather than an independent test result. See the MX Master 4 specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The 200–8,000 DPI range is useful when you switch between a large monitor setup and a more controlled, low-speed pointer, but DPI alone does not determine comfort or precision. Sensor performance, desk surface, operating-system acceleration and your preferred pointer speed all affect the result. The alternatives below should therefore be judged by their shape and control layout first, then by sensor and battery details that are actually documented.
Logitech announced the MX Master 4 on September 30, 2025, with launch pricing of $119.99 in the United States and €129.99 in Europe. Those figures are historical launch prices, not a promise of what a retailer charges now; the announcement is available at Logitech’s 2025 launch release.
Logitech MX Master 3S: the least disruptive switch
Why it belongs on the shortlist
The MX Master 3S is the natural place to start if you already like the MX Master family’s broad, thumb-supported productivity approach. Logitech lists it alongside its current mouse range in the official mouse catalog. Staying within one family can reduce the learning curve: your hand expects a familiar general shape, and your existing habits around horizontal navigation and application controls may transfer more readily than they would to a vertical mouse or trackball.

What to verify before purchase
The catalog listing does not establish a complete, current side-by-side specification against MX Master 4, nor does it state a current price. Confirm the exact model, included receiver, supported operating systems, button customization and charging arrangement on the regional product page or retailer listing you intend to use. Do not assume that a feature on MX Master 4 is automatically present on MX Master 3S simply because both carry the MX Master name.
This option makes the most sense when your priority is continuity rather than a radical change in posture. If your reason for changing is wrist angle, forearm position or discomfort with a conventional body, compare a vertical model instead of treating the 3S as an ergonomic redesign.

Razer Pro Click V2: a conventional ergonomic competitor
Controls and scrolling
Razer describes the Pro Click V2 as an ergonomic wireless mouse with an extended thumb rest. Its documentation also lists a dual-mode scroll wheel and programmable controls. A dual-mode wheel can be useful when your work alternates between precise, tactile movement and rapid navigation through long documents, but the exact feel and the applications you assign to buttons remain personal preferences.
Connection options
Razer’s support specifications list Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless and USB-C wired use. That gives you three ways to keep working: Bluetooth for a direct computer connection, the dedicated wireless link for a setup that uses a receiver, and a cable when you need a wired connection or want to charge while working. Confirm which accessories are included with the regional package before ordering.
Battery qualification
Razer states up to 3.5 months of battery life under its standard test conditions. Treat that as a manufacturer rating, not a guaranteed calendar period. Radio mode, polling or performance settings, lighting if fitted, usage hours and battery age can change real-world endurance. The Pro Click V2 support page contains the published specifications and setup information.
Who should investigate it
Choose this route when you want a familiar horizontal mouse rather than a vertical or trackball design, but still value a thumb rest, configurable buttons and flexible connectivity. It is not evidence that Razer’s shape will suit your hand better than Logitech’s; try to use a retailer’s return policy if hand fit is uncertain.
Vertical alternatives: Logitech Lift and Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition
What a vertical shape changes
A vertical mouse rotates the hand so the thumb rests on one side and the fingers operate the buttons from a more upright position. That is a grip preference, not a medical treatment. No source here establishes that a particular vertical mouse prevents repetitive-strain injury, relieves pain or is clinically superior. The transition can also require a learning period because pointer movement and button reach feel different from a conventional mouse.

Logitech Lift
Logitech lists Lift as a vertical mouse in its catalog. It is a candidate for readers who want to test an upright grip while staying with Logitech’s ecosystem. The catalog entry alone does not establish a complete connectivity matrix, battery figure, software feature list or current regional price, so check those details for your hand size and operating system before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteRazer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition
Razer presents the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition as a separate product in the Pro Click line, not merely a color or firmware variant of the conventional Pro Click V2. Its separate design means you should assess it as a different grip choice. The Pro Click line-up is the reference for distinguishing the models. Confirm availability, operating-system support and the exact accessories in your region; specifications can differ by configuration and market.
How to decide between the two
- Pick the model whose thumb and finger positions feel natural during a short trial, rather than assuming that every vertical mouse has the same angle.
- Check desk space and pointer speed: an upright body can change how far your hand travels for the same on-screen movement.
- Verify the software you are willing to install. Programmable controls are useful only if the companion application supports your operating system and workflow.
- Use a return window when possible. Comfort is subjective and cannot be inferred from a product name.
Logitech MX Ergo S: a trackball instead of a moving mouse
Why the control style is different
Logitech’s catalog calls the MX Ergo S an advanced wireless trackball. Your hand stays largely in place while your thumb or fingers rotate a ball to move the pointer. That can appeal when desk space is limited or when you prefer to avoid repeatedly sliding a mouse across a surface, but it changes the coordination required for selecting, dragging and scrolling.
When it is a good alternative
Investigate MX Ergo S if the main problem with a conventional mouse is the movement across your desk, not the absence of a taller shell. It is not a like-for-like MX Master replacement: pointer control, button reach and the learning curve are all different. Give yourself time to adjust before deciding whether it fits your work.
As with Lift and MX Master 3S, the catalog does not establish every current specification or price. Confirm the exact regional listing and included accessories before purchase.

Compare the features that affect daily work
Hand posture and physical shape
Classify the candidate before comparing minor specifications: MX Master 3S and Pro Click V2 are conventional ergonomic mice; Lift and Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition are vertical designs; MX Ergo S is a trackball. A conventional mouse is usually the easiest transition from MX Master 4, while a vertical mouse changes wrist orientation and a trackball changes pointer control. None should be described as universally comfortable or medically protective.
Scrolling behavior
Scroll-wheel behavior matters if your day includes long documents, timelines or spreadsheets. Razer explicitly lists dual-mode scrolling for Pro Click V2. The supplied official listings do not establish a complete free-spin, tactile, tilt or horizontal-scroll specification for every other candidate, so record “not stated” rather than inferring parity from the product family. Test both slow, line-by-line work and fast document travel.
Buttons and software
Razer lists programmable controls for Pro Click V2. For every model, check which buttons can be remapped, whether assignments can vary by application, and whether those settings require a companion application running in the background. A mouse with many buttons is not automatically more productive: unused controls can add accidental clicks or require more software maintenance.
Connectivity
Pro Click V2 is documented with Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless and USB-C wired use. MX Master 4 is documented as wireless with Bluetooth Low Energy. For the MX Master 3S, Lift and MX Ergo S, verify the exact connection modes on the regional listing because the catalog page is a product index rather than a complete comparison sheet. If you switch between a work computer, personal computer and tablet, count supported devices and the effort required to change channels before deciding.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Battery and charging
MX Master 4 has a 650 mAh battery and Logitech’s 70-day rating. Pro Click V2 has Razer’s rating of up to 3.5 months under standard test conditions. These numbers use different manufacturer methods and should not be treated as a head-to-head endurance test. For other candidates, use the current regional specification rather than guessing from a family resemblance.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.

A practical selection process
- Identify the change you want. If you only need a newer or familiar horizontal mouse, begin with MX Master 3S or Pro Click V2. If you want a rotated grip, compare Lift and Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition. If desk movement is the issue, evaluate MX Ergo S.
- Write down your essential controls. List horizontal navigation, rapid scrolling, extra thumb buttons, application-specific shortcuts and any controls you never use. Eliminate models that cannot provide the controls you actually need.
- Choose connection priorities. Decide whether Bluetooth, a dedicated 2.4 GHz receiver, USB-C wired operation or multi-device switching matters. Pro Click V2 explicitly offers all three connection types; verify the rest individually.
- Check software tolerance. Confirm that the manufacturer’s configuration software supports your operating system and that remapping is saved in the way you expect. If you work on a locked-down computer, favor a model whose essential functions work without installing software.
- Compare power expectations. Use the published battery rating as a planning figure, not a guarantee. Check charging-port location, cable access and whether you can continue working while connected.
- Check local terms. Look up current price, stock, warranty, return period and included receiver in your country. Historical launch pricing does not predict today’s retailer price.
- Trial the shape. Spend enough time to perform ordinary tasks: selecting text, dragging files, scrolling a long page and using your most frequent shortcut. A short trial is more informative than a generic comfort promise.
Setup and troubleshooting checklist
First connection
- Charge the mouse before a long work session, using the supplied cable or the manufacturer’s specified charging method.
- For Bluetooth, open your computer’s Bluetooth settings, put the mouse into pairing mode and select its name when it appears.
- For a 2.4 GHz receiver, connect the receiver directly to the computer or to a reliable hub, then switch the mouse to the matching wireless mode.
- For USB-C wired use on a compatible model, connect the cable and select the wired mode if the mouse provides a mode switch.
- Move the pointer, click every primary button and test scrolling before installing optional customization software.
Pointer feels too fast or too slow
Adjust operating-system pointer speed first, then the mouse sensitivity setting if the model exposes one. A high DPI number is not inherently better; choose the lowest movement that lets you cross your display comfortably without repeated lifts.
Scrolling feels inconsistent
Check whether the wheel is in its tactile or fast mode on models that provide dual-mode scrolling. Test the same document in another application to separate an application-specific setting from a hardware issue. Clean the wheel according to the manufacturer’s care instructions rather than spraying liquid into the housing.
Wireless connection drops
- Move a 2.4 GHz receiver away from dense cable bundles, metal obstructions and crowded USB ports.
- For Bluetooth, remove the old pairing and pair again after confirming the mouse is charged.
- Test wired operation where available. If wired use is stable but wireless is not, focus on radio interference, receiver placement or computer Bluetooth settings.
- Install firmware or configuration updates only from the manufacturer’s official support page.
Battery runs down sooner than expected
Compare your use with the manufacturer’s test assumptions. Frequent wireless use, long daily sessions and different performance settings can reduce endurance. Recharge before the battery is completely empty, and do not present a 70-day or 3.5-month rating as a guaranteed schedule.

Prices and stock vary by country and retailer, so check them immediately before ordering. The MX Master 4’s $119.99/€129.99 figures describe its 2025 launch announcement, not a current sale price. The official catalog and product pages establish product categories and selected specifications, but they do not provide an independent comfort ranking, clinical ergonomics study or universal productivity result.
Manufacturers publish the feature and battery statements cited here. They are useful for narrowing a shortlist, but your final choice should account for hand size, grip preference, desk space, software restrictions, connection requirements and the retailer’s return policy.
Quick Recap
Bottom-line recommendations by user need
- Closest family transition: investigate Logitech MX Master 3S, then verify the exact regional specification and price.
- Conventional shape with documented flexibility: investigate Razer Pro Click V2 for its thumb rest, dual-mode wheel, programmable controls and Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz and USB-C options.
- Vertical grip: compare Logitech Lift with the distinct Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition; choose by hand fit and local support, not by assuming one is medically better.
- Minimal desk movement: investigate Logitech MX Ergo S, accepting that a trackball requires a different pointer technique.
