For most PlayStation or PC buyers choosing from specifications alone, the Thrustmaster T300 RS GT is the stronger technical choice. It uses a brushless motor and dual-belt force-feedback system, offers a 1080-degree range, and has a documented path to compatible pedals, shifters, a handbrake and interchangeable rims. The Logitech G29 remains a sensible alternative if you prefer its fixed wheel and control layout, find a substantially better local price, or receive a better warranty. Neither wheel can be declared a universal performance winner from the available evidence: the most recent secondary comparison relies on manufacturer specifications and owner reports rather than a controlled, hands-on test.
Both are entry-level-to-intermediate force-feedback wheels with three pedals, but they target slightly different buying priorities. This guide separates confirmed specifications from subjective impressions so you can choose the right model for your console, games and upgrade plans.
Quick answer: choose by mechanism, platform and upgrade plans
| Choose this wheel | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Edition | PlayStation or PC buyer who prioritizes belt-driven feedback and expansion | Brushless motor, dual-belt drive, advertised 1080-degree rotation, three pedals and a documented T300-family accessory ecosystem |
| Logitech G29 | Buyer who prefers its fixed wheel, familiar controls or stronger verified local value | Dual-motor force feedback with helical gearing, 900-degree maximum rotation and an included three-pedal set |
The recommendation is specification-led, not a claim that every driver will feel one wheel is faster, stronger or smoother. No comparable independent torque measurement or controlled head-to-head test was identified for these two models. Check the current price, seller support and warranty in your country before treating either recommendation as a value judgment.

| Specification | Logitech G29 | Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Force-feedback drive | Dual-motor system with helical gearing, according to Logitech’s technical specification | Brushless motor with a dual-belt system, according to Thrustmaster’s product listing |
| Maximum advertised rotation | 900 degrees | 1080 degrees |
| Included pedals | Three-pedal set: throttle, brake and clutch | Three-pedal GT Edition set |
| Listed platforms | PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Windows and Mac, with game support required | PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5; PS5 use is subject to the supported-game list |
| Motor figure published by manufacturer | Logitech’s cited technical page does not provide a directly comparable torque figure | Thrustmaster’s shop listing describes a brushless motor of nearly 25 watts |
These are manufacturer specifications, not laboratory measurements. The 900-degree and 1080-degree figures describe the available steering range; they do not by themselves prove that one wheel produces better lap times or more convincing force feedback.

Drive system: helical gears versus dual belts
How the G29’s geared system works
The G29 uses dual-motor force feedback transmitted through helical gearing. Gears let the motors create resistance and steering cues in a compact, established design. The helical tooth profile is intended to mesh progressively rather than with the abrupt engagement associated with simple straight-cut gears. In practical terms, the wheel can deliver the road, curb and self-aligning cues that supported games send to it while keeping the mechanism relatively straightforward.
A geared design also gives the G29 a defined, mechanical character. Some drivers like the clear centering force and direct response around the middle of the wheel. Others notice more audible gear activity or a stepped sensation when a game sends rapid, fine-grained effects. Those are user impressions, not a measured comparison between every G29 and T300 RS GT unit, and game settings can change what you feel.
How the T300 RS GT’s belt system works
The T300 RS GT combines a brushless motor with a dual-belt transmission. Belts transfer the motor’s force to the rim, which generally allows the mechanism to filter some high-frequency motor and gear vibration before it reaches your hands. The brushless motor is specified by Thrustmaster as nearly 25 watts in its official shop listing.

A belt-driven wheel is therefore a logical choice if you value the documented mechanism and expect a smoother-feeling steering signal. It is not proof that every effect will feel stronger. Strength depends on the game’s force-feedback output, software settings, wheel calibration, power delivery and the physical condition of the unit. The available comparison does not contain a controlled measurement of noise, smoothness, latency or peak torque for both wheels.
What the mechanism means for a purchase
- Pick the G29 when a familiar geared response, its fixed wheel and integrated controls matter more than the transmission type.
- Pick the T300 RS GT when the belt-driven design and wider steering range are your primary reasons for upgrading from a controller.
- Do not use the words belt or gear as a substitute for a test result. They explain the hardware architecture, not a guaranteed ranking in every racing title.
Steering range and on-track control
Logitech specifies a maximum 900-degree rotation for the G29. Thrustmaster advertises 1080 degrees for the T300 RS GT. A larger range lets the rim turn farther from lock to lock, which can make small steering corrections more progressive in cars that use a large real-world steering angle. It can also require more hand movement in quick corners if a game is configured to use the entire range.

Most serious racing games apply a car-specific steering ratio or automatically synchronize the virtual wheel with the hardware. That means the headline range is only one part of the experience. A rally car, road car and open-wheel car may all use different steering angles, and some titles offer separate rotation, sensitivity and dead-zone controls. Set the game’s steering range to match its recommended profile, then calibrate the wheel before judging the response.
The T300 RS GT’s 1080-degree specification gives it 180 degrees more advertised rotation than the G29. That is a hardware capability, not a requirement to use all 1080 degrees in every game. If you mainly play arcade racers or titles that impose their own steering scaling, the difference may be less noticeable than the drive mechanism or pedal feel.

G29 pedal set
Logitech specifies three pedals: throttle, brake and clutch. That layout supports manual starts, clutch-controlled launches and H-pattern driving when a compatible shifter is available. The G29’s fixed wheel and built-in controls also reduce the number of separate decisions during initial setup: you receive a wheel, steering controls and a three-pedal set as one package.
T300 RS GT pedal set
The GT Edition includes a three-pedal set. It covers the same basic driving functions—throttle, brake and clutch—so both packages can support manual-transmission games without buying a separate pedal unit immediately.
Why the pedal specification is not the whole story
A three-pedal count does not describe mounting stability, travel, resistance, sensor behavior or adjustability. Those details can affect consistency under braking, but the cited specifications do not provide a controlled, side-by-side pedal test. Budget for a firm mounting solution if the pedals slide on your floor, and verify that your chosen game recognizes the clutch axis before troubleshooting the wheel.

PlayStation, PC and Xbox compatibility
Logitech G29 platforms
Logitech lists the G29 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Windows and Mac. A platform listing is not a promise that every game supports the wheel. The title must expose wheel input and, on consoles, recognize the model through its supported-peripheral list. On a computer, the operating system, driver software and game profile must all be configured correctly.

Thrustmaster T300 RS GT platforms
Thrustmaster lists the T300 RS GT for PC, PS4 and PS5. Its official product wording says: "The T300RS GT is an officially-licensed PlayStation and Gran Turismo product, and is compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC." On PS5, compatibility is conditional: Thrustmaster’s supported-game list identifies which PS5 titles and supported PS4 games work with the wheel. Treat the list as the authority for a specific game rather than assuming blanket support for every PS5 release.
What about Xbox?
The G29 and T300 RS GT are the PlayStation/PC models. Do not buy either by name for an Xbox setup. Logitech and Thrustmaster use separate Xbox-compatible product families, so verify the exact model designation and the game’s wheel-support list before ordering. A console’s USB port does not make a PlayStation wheel universally compatible with Xbox.
Upgrade paths and long-term ownership
Documented T300-family expansion
Thrustmaster’s compatibility documentation lists selected accessories for T300-family bases, including additional pedal sets, TH8A and TH8S shifters, the TSS handbrake and interchangeable rims. This gives the T300 RS GT a clear route from an initial three-pedal package to a more specialized simulator setup.
Accessory compatibility is specific, not generic. Confirm the exact wheel base, connector, console mode and required adapter for each item before purchase. A product that fits mechanically may still need a particular connection path or platform mode. The compatibility documentation is more useful than a retailer’s broad statement that an accessory works with “Thrustmaster wheels.”

G29 expansion considerations
Logitech’s cited G29 specification page confirms the bundled wheel controls and pedals but is not a complete accessory-compatibility guide. You should therefore verify any shifter, handbrake or replacement component against Logitech’s current documentation and the seller’s model number before assuming a supported upgrade path.
This difference matters if you expect your first wheel to become the base of a larger rig. The T300 RS GT’s documented interchangeable-rim and accessory ecosystem makes future planning easier. If you intend to keep the factory wheel and pedals for years, that advantage may have little practical value.
Which wheel is better for different buyers?
Choose the T300 RS GT for a belt-driven starting point
The T300 RS GT is the better specification-led choice for a PlayStation or PC driver who specifically wants a brushless, dual-belt force-feedback design and 1080 degrees of advertised rotation. It is also the more defensible choice when you already know you may add a different rim, a higher-spec pedal set, a shifter or a handbrake.
Its recommendation is based on documented hardware and compatibility, not a claim that it wins every subjective test. Check that the games you play appear on Thrustmaster’s supported list, especially on PS5, and confirm that the included GT Edition pedal set is present in the exact regional package.

Choose the G29 for its fixed controls and straightforward package
The G29 suits a buyer who likes its fixed wheel and integrated control layout, wants a familiar three-pedal bundle, or finds a verified local deal that changes the value equation. Its 900-degree range is sufficient for many racing games, and the PlayStation/PC support listed by Logitech covers the platforms most buyers of this model use.

Do not describe the G29 as objectively weak because it is gear-driven. The available specifications do not establish a comparable force or torque ranking, and the wheel can still provide meaningful force-feedback cues when a game supports it. Choose it for its control arrangement and total purchase value rather than for an unsupported performance claim.
Choose neither until you resolve platform compatibility
If your main system is Xbox, stop comparing these two PlayStation/PC models and verify an Xbox-specific family instead. If your favorite game is not on the relevant supported list, a technically attractive wheel can become an expensive controller that the game does not recognize correctly.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Setup checklist before your first race
- Confirm the exact model. Check that the box and listing say G29 or T300 RS GT Edition, not a visually similar model intended for another console family.
- Check the game list. For PS5, consult Thrustmaster’s supported-game information for the T300 RS GT. For the G29, confirm support in the game’s peripheral documentation. On PC, check the title’s wheel-input requirements.
- Inspect the included pedals. Verify that all three pedals are in the package and that the clutch axis appears in the game’s controller page.
- Connect in the correct platform mode. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for console or PC mode before launching the game. If the title does not detect the wheel, close the game, reconnect the wheel and restart after the correct mode is selected.
- Calibrate before changing sensitivity. Let the wheel complete its startup calibration, then set center position, rotation range and pedal travel in the game. Change one setting at a time so you can identify the cause of a problem.
- Secure the hardware. Clamp the wheel to a rigid desk or cockpit surface and keep the pedal base from sliding. Movement at the mounting point can feel like steering lag or inconsistent braking.
- Test in a known-supported title. Try steering, throttle, brake, clutch, buttons and force feedback separately. This isolates a game-profile issue from a hardware or connection issue.
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
- Assuming PS5 means every PS5 game: The T300 RS GT’s PS5 support is subject to Thrustmaster’s supported-game list. Check the individual title.
- Buying for the wrong console: G29 and T300 RS GT refer to PlayStation/PC models. Xbox buyers need a separately identified Xbox-compatible family.
- Comparing motor wattage as if it were torque: Thrustmaster’s nearly 25-watt figure describes the brushless motor in its listing. It is not a directly comparable force-at-the-rim measurement for the G29.
- Treating owner impressions as laboratory results: Reports about noise, smoothness or strength vary with game, firmware, mounting and individual units. The October 3, 2026 comparison explicitly says it is based on specifications and owner reports rather than a hands-on rig test.
- Assuming every accessory is interchangeable: T300-family compatibility covers selected products and connection arrangements. Verify the exact pedal, shifter, handbrake or rim before ordering.
- Ignoring the seller and warranty: Current prices and warranty terms were not established here. Compare the exact regional listing, return window, included accessories and warranty provider at checkout.
Decision matrix
| Your priority | More suitable starting point | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Belt-driven feedback architecture | T300 RS GT | Uses a brushless motor and dual-belt system |
| Wider advertised steering range | T300 RS GT | 1080 degrees versus the G29’s 900 degrees |
| Fixed wheel and integrated controls | G29 | Its documented package centers on a fixed wheel with built-in controls |
| Three pedals out of the box | Either | Both packages include throttle, brake and clutch functionality |
| Documented rim and accessory expansion | T300 RS GT | Thrustmaster lists selected pedals, shifters, handbrake and interchangeable rims for T300-family bases |
| Xbox use | Neither by default | Verify a separate Xbox-compatible model family |
| Best local price or warranty | Whichever listing wins after verification | Current regional prices and warranty terms are not established specifications |
What the available evidence can—and cannot—prove
The strongest evidence is the manufacturers’ own specification and compatibility material: Logitech establishes the G29’s geared dual-motor system, 900-degree range, three pedals and listed platforms; Thrustmaster establishes the T300 RS GT’s brushless dual-belt design, 1080-degree range, nearly 25-watt motor description, three-pedal package and platform support.
Those documents do not provide a shared test protocol for force strength, peak torque, noise, steering smoothness, durability or lap time. The secondary comparison updated October 3, 2026 also states that it uses manufacturer specifications and owner reports rather than testing either wheel on the author’s own rig. Use subjective claims as impressions and keep the specification-based recommendation separate from personal feel.
Final verdict
Buy the Thrustmaster T300 RS GT if you want the documented belt-driven design, 1080-degree range and a clearer upgrade route for a PlayStation or PC simulator. Buy the Logitech G29 if its fixed controls suit you better or its verified local price and warranty make it the more sensible package. Before paying, confirm your platform, the exact game, the included pedals, the seller’s warranty and—if you choose the T300 RS GT on PS5—the game-specific support list.
