Verdict: The Logitech G Pro X2 Rapid is a polished wired tenkeyless Hall Effect keyboard with fast competitive controls, excellent acoustic damping and convenient onboard controls. At roughly $229.99/£209.99, however, its value is weak: less expensive boards can add wireless connectivity or offer deeper analog programming. Buy it primarily if you specifically want Logitech’s hardware design, OLED controls and G HUB ecosystem; otherwise, compare alternatives before paying the Logi premium.
What the Logitech G Pro X2 Rapid is
The Pro X2 Rapid is an 80% TKL keyboard with an 84-key layout, USB wired connectivity and RGB lighting. Logitech positions it as an “8K Wired TKL Analog Gaming Keyboard With OLED.” It supports Windows and Linux, uses Hall Effect magnetic switches throughout, and includes double-shot PBT keycaps, an aluminum plate and six layers of internal damping.
The compact TKL format keeps the function row and arrow/navigation cluster while removing the number pad, making it suitable for desk space-limited setups and tournament-style play. A palm rest is included, and the restrained styling does not rely on aggressive gamer graphics.

How Rapid Trigger and analog controls work
Rapid Trigger
Traditional switches reset at a fixed mechanical point. Rapid Trigger instead responds to the key’s travel, allowing a key to reset as soon as you begin lifting it. That can make repeated strafing and rapid direction changes feel more immediate in games that reward counter-strafing or frequent taps. It does not improve every genre, and it cannot compensate for latency elsewhere in a system.
Adjustable actuation
Each key can be set between 0.1 mm and 4 mm in 0.05 mm steps. A shallow setting triggers with a light press for movement or rapid actions; a deeper setting reduces accidental activation for keys used less frequently. Because the switches are analog, these settings are configured in software or through the keyboard’s onboard controls rather than by swapping springs.

Key Priority (SOCD)
Key Priority handles opposing directional inputs, a feature commonly called simultaneous opposing cardinal directions (SOCD). It determines which input takes precedence when opposing keys are pressed together, helping maintain predictable movement in competitive games. Game rules and anti-cheat policies vary, so configure it only where permitted.
OLED controls and G HUB
The OLED screen and physical dial let you change actuation, Rapid Trigger, report rate, lighting, game mode and volume without opening Logitech G HUB. That is useful when switching profiles at a desk or between games. G HUB remains the main place for profile management and broader configuration, while the onboard controls reduce the need to alt-tab during play.

The advertised 8 kHz scan and USB polling rate sounds impressive, but Tom’s Guide notes that most keyboards do not need that bandwidth. It should be treated as a specification rather than a reason by itself to buy the board; the practical benefit depends on the game, system and input pipeline.
Typing feel, sound and build
The combination of magnetic switches, PBT keycaps, an aluminum plate and six-layer PORON/IXPE/silicone-style damping produces a fuller, quieter sound than many gaming keyboards. Tom’s Guide described it as slightly “thocky” while still leaning toward a lighter clack. The result suits shared rooms and users who want a less hollow board without modifying it.

In Tom’s Guide’s test, the reviewer reached 100 words per minute with 89% accuracy at a 2.6 mm actuation setting. That is one reviewer’s result under one setup, not a universal typing benchmark. Your switch setting, familiarity with the layout and typing technique will matter more than the number.

Switch compatibility and limitations
All keys use magnetic analog switches and are hot-swappable only with compatible magnetic switches. Ordinary MX-style mechanical switches are not supported. This gives enthusiasts some replacement flexibility, but the compatible-switch ecosystem is narrower than standard mechanical hot-swap boards.

The board also omits several advanced behaviors found on some competing analog keyboards, including dynamic keystroke, toggle holds and NuPhy’s Mod Tap-style behavior. If you build complex multi-action layers, check the exact software feature list before buying.

The Pro X2 Rapid’s premium is easiest to justify when its specific combination of TKL size, OLED controls, polished G HUB integration and quiet stock acoustics matters more to you than wireless operation or maximum programmability.
Who should buy it
- Competitive players who want a wired tournament setup and Rapid Trigger.
- Users who prefer a compact TKL layout with a palm rest.
- Buyers who value physical OLED controls and Logitech’s software ecosystem.
- Typists who want PBT keycaps and quieter, fuller stock acoustics without immediate modding.
Who should skip it
- Anyone who needs Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity.
- Users seeking the deepest analog feature set, such as dynamic keystroke and toggle-style behaviors.
- Shoppers focused primarily on the lowest price-to-performance ratio.
- Owners of standard mechanical switches they want to reuse; those switches are incompatible.
Bottom line on the Logi premium
The Logitech G Pro X2 Rapid is a good keyboard whose strongest advantages are execution and integration rather than unique raw capability. Rapid Trigger, adjustable actuation, SOCD handling and 8 kHz operation cover the essentials, while the OLED dial and effective damping make daily use pleasant. At around $230, competing Hall Effect boards can deliver wireless connectivity or more extensive programming for less or similar money. Choose the Pro X2 Rapid for its particular Logitech experience, not because 8 kHz or Rapid Trigger alone makes it the best value.
