Login Form 12 by Colorlib is a free HTML login-page template with an image background, blue shadow overlay, and a responsive form. It supplies the front-end layout—not user authentication. To let visitors sign in, you must connect the form to server-side login code or an authentication service.
What Login Form 12 includes
Colorlib describes Login Form 12 as an image-background design with a blue shadow overlay, a name and image, and a login button with a hover effect. The collection says the layout is responsive for mobile devices. Those are the publisher’s descriptions; they are not an independent test of the downloaded files. The page also says the button’s hover effect can be linked to registration. That does not make registration part of a working account system by itself; the destination and any account-creation process must be provided by your site.
How to make a login page in HTML from this template
- Download the template from Colorlib’s collection and open its HTML file in a code editor.
- Replace the sample text, links, and form action with values appropriate for your site. The form action must point to your own server-side login handler or a connected authentication service.
- Adjust the CSS to match your branding, including the colors, fonts, and background image.
- Open the page in a browser and inspect the layout, including on a phone. Colorlib describes the design as responsive, but you should check the customized page in your own environment.
- Connect and test the sign-in flow before publishing. A styled form alone cannot verify credentials or create a secure session.
What the template does not provide
Login Form 12 is a presentation template, not an identity system. Colorlib says the form needs the site owner’s server-side login code or an authentication service, requests should use HTTPS, and passwords should be checked on the server. Do not treat the downloaded HTML or CSS as a security layer.

Colorlib’s 2026 demos may show social, passkey, Face ID, or single sign-on buttons, but the collection cautions that these are simulated until connected to real providers. A visible button does not enable that sign-in method.
Usability details to preserve when customizing
- Allow browser and password-manager autofill, and let users paste passwords.
- Show clear, field-level error messages so people can correct input.
- Avoid error text that reveals whether an account name or password was the incorrect detail.
- Check the page on phones after changing its text, styling, or background image.
These are general recommendations on Colorlib’s collection page, not verified built-in features of Login Form 12.

Choose it if an image-led page with a blue overlay suits your brand and you are prepared to adapt the HTML and CSS and build or connect the authentication flow. If you want a split-screen or minimal-card layout, compare other patterns in Colorlib’s collection. The collection lists alternatives, but their downloaded files have not been independently tested here, so compare the actual layouts, sign-in options, mobile behavior, dependencies, customization effort, and attribution terms before choosing.
