Choose an LLM visibility tracker based on what you need to measure, which AI surfaces and countries matter, how often you need results, and whether the tool exposes evidence you can act on. A brand mention, a cited website, a site visit, and a crawler’s access to your content are different signals; no single score proves all four.

The published evidence summarized here supports a dated market snapshot and a practical comparison framework, but not a verified feature-by-feature comparison of 15 named products. The prices below are reported examples with different plan scopes, not an apples-to-apples ranking.

Decide what “AI visibility” means for your team

Before comparing products, identify the outcome you want to track. A monitoring tool that checks answers for brand mentions does not necessarily measure traffic, citations, or whether AI crawlers can reach your site.

  • Answer mentions: whether an assistant names your brand or product in a response.
  • Citations: whether the response links to your website or another source you care about.
  • Visits: whether people arrive at your site from an AI surface. Mention monitoring alone does not establish visits.
  • Crawl access: whether an AI crawler can access your pages. This is a technical access question, not a measure of how often a brand appears in answers.

Some tools report more than one of these signals, but keep them separate in dashboards and reports. TechRadar Pro’s June 30, 2026 guide also distinguishes AI-answer monitoring from Google Search Console reporting; check Google’s current documentation before relying on any particular Search Console feature, since availability and coverage can change.

Compare tools on the same workload

A headline price means little without its included prompt volume, engines, run frequency, geography, and reporting limits. For each candidate, capture the following in one worksheet. If a vendor or comparison does not state a detail, record it as “not stated” rather than assuming coverage.

Surfaces, countries, and collection method

  • List the specific assistants and search experiences you need, such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, Copilot, and any relevant alternatives.
  • Record supported countries and languages. Do not assume that one market’s results represent another.
  • Find out whether answers are collected from consumer-facing interfaces, official APIs, third-party APIs, a mixture, or an undisclosed method. These approaches do not necessarily represent the same experience.

Prompt coverage, cadence, and evidence

  • Check whether you bring your own prompts or the service monitors a vendor-selected query set. Distinguish prompts, answer checks, and credits if the plan uses different units.
  • Record run frequency, history or retention, and whether you can inspect the raw answers. A count without the underlying response is harder to verify or explain.
  • Check for source URLs, citations, competitor mentions, sentiment, share of voice, exports, alerts, and recommendations. Feature descriptions establish what a vendor says it offers, not independent proof of accuracy.

Workflow and total cost

  • Note project, brand, client, and user limits; agency workspaces; white-label reporting; dashboards; API access; integrations; and any companion products needed.
  • Capture recurring price, billing basis, included usage, overages, add-ons, and enterprise-quote status. Include staff time for setup, review, and reporting when comparing a subscription with a build.
  • Date the price check and preserve the plan details. Prices and limits change, and comparison pages can disagree.

Published price examples are not equivalent plans

These examples were reported by comparison publishers in October 2026. They illustrate the spread of published prices, not a recommendation or a like-for-like ranking. Verify the current plan and limits with the vendor before making a decision.

Product Reported price and scope Source and comparison date
SE Visible $99 for a specified daily plan; the summarized source does not state the prompt volume or full engine scope. GeoSalience, pages and documentation read October 3, 2026
Peec AI Agency plans from $245 in one comparison; $95 per month in a separate vendor-authored comparison. The summaries do not establish that these are the same plan or include equivalent usage. GeoSalience, October 3, 2026; Honeyb, pricing pages reportedly checked October 2, 2026
Ahrefs Brand Radar Custom prompt tracking from $50 in one comparison; own-prompt tracking from $129 per month in another. The plan scope is not shown to be equivalent. GeoSalience, October 3, 2026; Honeyb, October 2, 2026
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit $99 per domain in the summarized comparison; other usage and plan details are not stated there. GeoSalience, October 3, 2026
AthenaHQ $295 for a Starter plan in the summarized comparison; included prompt volume and cadence are not stated there. GeoSalience, October 3, 2026
SE Ranking $89 per month for an AI Search add-on on top of Core; the Core subscription is an additional cost. Honeyb, pricing pages reportedly checked October 2, 2026
Scrunch $250 per month in the vendor-authored comparison; included usage and plan scope are not stated in the summary. Honeyb, October 2, 2026

The reported differences for Peec AI and Ahrefs show why a price should travel with its source, date, and plan description. The comparisons do not establish that one figure is wrong; they describe prices under potentially different scopes.

What the market snapshot does—and does not—show

GeoSalience says it checked pricing pages and documentation for 35 platforms on October 3, 2026. For its defined scenario of 50 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews checked weekly, 17 platforms published a flat price, ranging from $50 to $599 per month with a reported median of $129. For 500 prompts across eight engines checked daily in three countries, none of the 35 published a price. These are counts from that publisher’s review, not a complete census of the market.

The same comparison classified 11 products as capturing consumer interfaces, 11 as using mixed methods, three as using official APIs, and 10 as not disclosing their collection method. It documented ChatGPT for 35 tools, Perplexity for 34, Microsoft Copilot for 19, Grok for 15, and Meta AI for nine. These counts describe what the comparison documented; they do not establish that one collection method or engine mix is better.

GeoSalience also reported a lowest published rate per 1,000 answer checks ranging from $1.41 to $102.68 across 23 tools. Treat that spread cautiously: a unit price cannot tell you whether prompt limits, engines, cadence, geography, retention, and workflow features match your needs. The comparison says it did not measure product quality, and none of the reviewed 35 published enterprise pricing.

When a manual log or custom build makes sense

Start with a stable prompt set

  1. Collect 10–30 real questions buyers might ask about your category, products, or competitors.
  2. Choose the assistants and countries relevant to your audience, then run the same prompts on a regular weekly schedule.
  3. Record the date, surface, prompt, answer, brand mentions, citations, and relevant source URLs in a spreadsheet. Keep the wording stable so you can observe changes over time.
  4. Review the pattern across runs rather than treating an individual answer as a durable ranking. Responses can vary.

This approach is suitable for a small, single-brand workload when the manual effort is manageable. It is a monitoring routine, not a representative measurement of every user’s AI experience.

Automate only when the work justifies it

A custom workflow can read prompts from a sheet, send them to model APIs, check returned answers for selected brands, and save results. It offers control over prompt selection and data handling, but someone must build and maintain collection, normalization, answer parsing, history, and reporting, and respond to model or version changes. API results should not be described as equivalent to consumer-interface answers unless that equivalence has been established.

Buy when saved work or broader coverage pays for the subscription

A paid service becomes more compelling when manual runs consume too much staff time, multiple brands or clients need consistent reporting, or bundled source analysis, exports, alerts, integrations, APIs, or recommendations are valuable enough to justify their full cost. There is no universal prompt or brand count at which buying is proven to win; the break-even point depends on workload, coverage, and maintenance.

How to read rankings and track changes responsibly

A third-party benchmark described a panel of 150 prompts across five assistants, run every 48 hours for four weeks, with 300 raw answers hand-scored. Its publisher notes that this window cannot establish seasonal effects or behavior across later model versions, close scores may be ties at the sample’s resolution, and some vendor claims could not be independently confirmed. Read its results as evidence from that test design and period, not as a permanent ranking: LLM Visibility Tools Tested: 9 Trackers Compared.

For your own tracking, retain timestamps and notes about the model, search experience, and collection method. When one of these changes, run the baseline again rather than treating the new result as a directly comparable continuation. For any formal tool evaluation, document the prompt set, surfaces, geography, run dates, sample size, scoring rules, and limitations.

A broader dated comparison can help identify candidates, but it does not substitute for a scoped test or a current vendor check. Frase’s September 2026 guide is vendor-authored, so treat its product and price claims as such. Likewise, Honeyb’s October 2026 comparison is vendor-authored. For current plan terms, verify the relevant vendor’s own documentation.

Practical decision rule

  • Choose a tracker if it covers the surfaces and markets you need, exposes useful underlying evidence, and reduces enough manual or reporting work to justify its complete cost.
  • Build a lightweight log if the workload is small and a stable, manually checked prompt set answers the question you actually have.
  • Automate or reassess as the number of brands, prompts, surfaces, clients, or reporting requirements grows; include engineering and upkeep in the cost comparison.

Whichever route you take, define the signal first, preserve the measurement context, and avoid treating mentions, citations, visits, and crawl access as interchangeable measures of visibility.
