Little Kitty, Big City is scheduled to arrive on iPhone, iPad, and eligible Android phones and tablets on October 12, 2026, according to developer Double Dagger Studio. The mobile edition lets you try the game for free, then pay once to unlock the rest. Its release is planned for everywhere except China, where it is coming later.
When does Little Kitty, Big City come to Android and iOS?
Double Dagger Studio’s mobile FAQ gives October 12, 2026, as the launch date for iPhone, iPad, and eligible Android devices. The developer says the release will be available everywhere except China, which is planned for a later date.
There is a conflicting date on the US Apple App Store listing: it displayed “Expected Dec 31, 2026” when checked. That is a store listing estimate, not a second confirmed launch date; the developer FAQ is the source for the October 12 date. Store information can change around a launch.

The developer names iPhone, iPad, and thousands of Android phones and tablets as target devices. Not every Android device will qualify under Google Play requirements. The reviewed developer FAQ does not specify a minimum Android version, so check the Google Play listing on the device you intend to use.
#1 Best Overall
- UK e-store account may be required for any online features
Apple’s US listing specifies iOS 13.0 or later for iPhone and iPadOS 13.0 or later for iPad. The game is listed by Double Dagger Studio on both stores: Apple App Store and Google Play.
Is Little Kitty, Big City mobile free?
You can download and try the mobile game at no cost, then make a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the full game permanently. It is not a subscription. On Apple’s US storefront, the full-game unlock was listed at $12.99 when checked; that is a US price at that time, not a global price, and store prices can change.

- A Nintendo Switch Online membership may be required for online play. Please check the game detail page on Nintendo.com for membership requirements.

Apple describes the free trial as ending after you collect and turn in 25 Shinies to Crow. Progress carries over if you purchase the unlock. Camera and AR features are not available during the trial; the Apple and Google Play listings say those features require the full unlock.

Does mobile include the same game and features?
The developer says mobile includes nearly all of the original adventure, with controls rebuilt for touchscreens and an exclusive AR mode. The game follows a cat exploring a city, meeting stray animals, finding hats, and trying to get home. The AR feature adds a mobile-specific way to engage with the game, but it is gated behind the full-game purchase.

- Real Big City Exploration.
There are two important cross-platform limits: mobile is a separate purchase from PC or console editions, and saves cannot transfer from PC or console to mobile. Buying the game on iPhone or iPad also does not unlock it on Android, or the other way around; each store purchase is separate.

Quick Recap
Rank #4
- BUILDS PLANNING & SEQUENTIAL THINKING — Cats & Boxes develops five STEM-connected cognitive skills with every puzzle: planning, logic, spatial insight, problem solving and concentration. Because you move the box pieces one at a time — and each must fit back on the board before the next move — you have to think several moves ahead and picture the whole sequence, the multi-step reasoning that underpins mathematics, coding and logical thinking. It's so much fun to play, you'll forget you're building real skills.
- DESIGNED FOR AGES 7 TO ADULT — 60 CHALLENGES TO WIZARD LEVEL — Starter challenges solve in just a few moves; Wizard challenges make you cover a cat with a box only to move it again later, and genuinely test adults. Early challenges welcome a 7-year-old; the hardest push seasoned puzzlers. One game the whole family puzzles through together, each at their own level.
- MOVE THE BOXES, HIDE THE CATS — These cats are dying to get into a box! Choose a challenge and place the cats and box pieces on the board as shown. Then move the box pieces around — one at a time, each fitting back onto the board before you move the next — until every cat is tucked snugly inside a cardboard box. Plan the order carefully, because you'll often need to cover one cat, then shift that box later. One solution every time.
- THE PERFECT TRAVEL BRAIN GAME FOR EVERY GENERATION — Everything packs into the compact case with a lid — just close it and go. It's ideal for planes, road trips, restaurants and grandparents' houses, with no loose pieces to lose. The same puzzle that builds a child's planning gives adults a satisfying screen-free challenge and offers older adults an engaging mental workout that helps keep the mind sharp and active — a purr-fect, thoughtful gift across generations.
- AWARD-WINNING BELGIAN DESIGN — Cats & Boxes comes from Raf Peeters, one of SmartGames' most celebrated designers, who set out to create something complex from very simple rules. From SmartGames, the worldwide leader in multi-level logic games, with 30+ years of award-winning design from Belgium, trusted by families, educators and puzzle lovers in 80+ countries. What to know before downloading
- Check the date and region: October 12, 2026, is the developer’s stated date, excluding China, which is scheduled for later.
- Confirm device eligibility: Apple lists iOS/iPadOS 13.0 or later; Android eligibility depends on Google Play requirements.
- Expect a trial followed by a purchase: Try the game for free, then pay once to unlock the remainder. The US Apple listing showed $12.99 when checked, but other regions may differ.
- Use the store for the device you own: An iOS purchase and an Android purchase are not interchangeable, and PC/console ownership does not include mobile.
- Plan around mobile-only constraints: Controller support and save transfers from PC or console are unavailable; AR requires the full unlock.
