Lioran S3 V1’s documented PUT path promotes an object’s payload file before it commits the object’s metadata to RocksDB. If the metadata write reports an error, the application attempts to delete the promoted file. But if the process stops after the rename and before that metadata commit, the cleanup cannot run, and payload bytes may remain on disk without a committed object record.
That is a documented failure window—not a transaction spanning the filesystem and RocksDB, and not proof of crash-proof behavior. The account is project-authored rather than an independent code audit or verified fault-injection result.
What Lioran S3 V1 is, and what this pipeline covers
The project describes Lioran S3 V1 Pre-Alpha as a self-hosted, single-node object-storage engine. It stores payload bytes on the filesystem and metadata in RocksDB. The current release uses its own REST interface; the project says it is not yet a drop-in AWS S3 API-compatible layer or a distributed object store. These are statements about the project’s documented release scope, not an independent assessment. Project overview
The failure behavior below concerns the documented PUT sequence. The key distinction is between the payload’s filesystem state and its metadata record: they are updated in separate steps.

How a PUT moves from upload to metadata commit
- Validate the bucket and object key.
- Check capacity and quota.
- Create a staging file.
- Stream the incoming payload into staging while calculating its SHA-256 hash.
- Flush the file; in strict mode, perform an explicit synchronization step.
- Close the staging file and check capacity and quota again.
- Create the final object’s parent directory.
- Rename the staging file to the final object path.
- Build object metadata and write it to RocksDB.
- If that metadata write returns an error, attempt to remove the promoted payload; otherwise, return success.
The important boundary is between steps 8 and 9: the payload is already at its final filesystem path when the metadata write occurs. The project’s walkthrough describes this order and the associated cleanup behavior. Project-authored PUT and failure-window account
What happens at each failure point
| Failure point | Documented behavior | Resulting concern |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming stream fails | The project says it removes the staging file. | No object metadata has been committed in the described path. |
| Second capacity or quota check rejects the write | The project says it removes staging after the exact payload size is known. | The rejected payload remains a staging-cleanup case, before promotion. |
| Rename fails | The call returns a storage error and attempts to clean up staging. | Metadata has not yet been committed. |
| Metadata write returns an error | The promoted payload exists already; the application attempts to remove it. | This is attempted rollback on a synchronous error path, not a guarantee if cleanup itself fails or the process stops abruptly. |
| Process stops after rename but before metadata commit | The process cannot execute the later rollback after it has stopped. | Payload bytes may remain without a committed metadata record, consuming disk as an orphan. |
The rename-to-metadata gap
If the process crashes after the rename but before RocksDB receives the metadata, the project’s own account identifies a possible state where the file exists but its metadata does not. Because reads are described as beginning from metadata, that orphan is not automatically exposed as a committed object in the documented read path. It can still be a disk-recovery concern.

- CONFIRM BEFORE BUYING — USB-C to USB-C ONLY: This iPhone 18 Charging cable connects two USB-C ports — it does NOT include a USB-A connector. Not a retractable coil cable. Not a magnetic self-winding cable. Features a tangle-free, ultra-flexible design for everyday 240W fast charging. If you experience any quality issues upon arrival, our customer support team is available 24/7 to assist with a prompt and professional solution
- High Power ≠ High Risk | Smarter Compatibility for Every Device: 240W doesn't mean compromising safety—it means unmatched versatility. Thanks to PD3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR) technology, our c to c cable fast charging dynamically adjusts voltage/current to deliver each device's maximum safe power (e.g., 60W to iPads, 100W to older MacBooks, 140W to MacBook Pro). Other 60W/100W usb c to usb c cable can't hit full charging speed for your power-hungry devices—they're held back by their own power limits. LISEN 240W usb-c charge cable? It charges all your gear steadily, efficiently, and at full speed, with zero safety risks
- 240W Ultra Fast Charging | Smart Protocol Matching: This iPhone 18 pro max charger fast charging cable supports PD3.1 EPR/QC4.0 fast charging up to 240W Max, working seamlessly with USB-C Power Delivery adapters (e.g.60W/100W/240W). It automatically matches your device’s handshake protocol to deliver the maximum safe power it can handle. It's 2.4X faster than 100W fast charging usb-c cables: Up to 85% charged in 30 mins for iPhone 18 Pro Max, up to 65% charged in 30 mins for iPad Pro, and up to 80% charged in 30 mins for MacBook Pro 16''(M5). This iPhone 18 charger cord balances speed and protection perfectly, giving you both fast and secure charging
- E-Marker 3.0 Chip | Real-Time Current/Voltage Monitoring: LISEN 240W type c charger fast charging cable has an E-Marker 3.0 + PD3.1 EPR system that actively monitors current/voltage 3.2M+ times per second, ensuring zero overloads, short circuits, or battery damage. Paired with dual safeguards (overheat + surge protection) and PD3.1/QC4.0 certifications, it's not just a USB-C to USB-C cable—it's a smart guardian for your devices
- Premium Copper Core | Conductivity Meets Durability: This high speed usb c cable fast charging is upgraded from standard copper to 99.99% oxygen-free copper cores—thicker, purer, and lower-resistance. This means: (1) Stable power delivery even at 240W (no energy loss or heat buildup). (2) Longer lifespan (resists corrosion and wear, unlike cheaper alloys). (3) Faster data sync (480Mbps) with minimal signal interference
The project’s concise description of this boundary is: “It does not magically turn filesystem + RocksDB into one atomic transaction.” — Swaraj Puppalwar, Founder & CTO of Lioran Group and Lioran Developer Solutions, in the project-authored failure-window account. Project statement on the transaction boundary
What strict and balanced durability do—and do not—mean
Related project material describes strict mode as adding explicit flush or synchronization boundaries before metadata is committed as durable state; the PUT walkthrough characterizes fsync as optional. The material therefore supports describing a difference in documented persistence steps, not promising that every successful write survives every power loss. The available descriptions do not establish that fsync is always enabled, that every file and directory metadata boundary is synchronized, or that all filesystems and storage hardware honor persistence requests identically. Synchronizing a file also does not make its filesystem update and a separate RocksDB metadata write one atomic transaction.

The cited material is authored by the project and describes intended implementation behavior. It does not independently verify the code path, report completed fault-injection tests, quantify reliability, or establish platform-by-platform rename semantics, every concurrent-write case, or all database failure modes. The walkthrough mentions stage-level timing instrumentation, but it reports no resulting latency or throughput figures. Project material on implementation and testing

Accordingly, the safe reading is narrow: the described sequence includes cleanup attempts for specified synchronous failures, while abrupt process termination in the rename-to-metadata interval can leave an orphaned payload. Do not infer broader crash-recovery guarantees from the project’s stated engineering priorities.
