Linogy’s 1.5V Li-ion AA and AAA batteries are worth considering when a device benefits from a steadier voltage than NiMH cells provide—but they are not a universal upgrade over alkaline. In Make: reviewer Sam Freeman’s device-specific tests, Linogy beat NiMH in some cases, while alkaline lasted longer in one test. The cells also need a compatible charger, and their higher voltage can matter to devices with specific battery requirements.
What Linogy sells
Linogy offers regulated-output 1.5V lithium-ion AA and AAA cells, plus charging bundles. The exact contents depend on the option: the Essential Bundle listed by Linogy includes eight AA cells rated at 3,600mWh each, four AAA cells rated at 1,300mWh each, two AAA converters, and an eight-bay charger. The company also lists separate eight-cell AA and AAA packs and a portable four-slot charger. Check the live listing for the contents of the specific configuration you are considering; bundles and availability can change.
Linogy’s product page describes its AA Pro cell as 3,600mWh, weighing 20g ±1g, with a 1.5V initial and output voltage, a listed three-hour charging time, and a charging current of 350 ±20mA. The company rates it for up to 1,200 charge cycles. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements, and should not be assumed to apply to every Linogy cell or charging setup. Do Linogy batteries last longer than alkaline or NiMH?
There is no across-the-board winner in the available hands-on results. Sam Freeman’s Make: review found that Linogy cells held higher voltage than NiMH for longer in some use cases, but performance varied by device. His results are useful examples, not controlled evidence of what every cell will do in every product.

The numbers and outcomes above belong to Freeman’s review and those particular tests; they are not guaranteed runtimes or a general ranking. The higher measured voltage also makes checking a device’s requirements important, rather than treating the 1.5V label as proof of compatibility. Read Sam Freeman’s Make: review.
Will they work in your devices?
Linogy says its cells work in most devices designed for disposable batteries, including remotes, toys, cameras, keyboards, mice, and flashlights. “Most” is not “all”: check the device manual for permitted battery chemistry and voltage, especially for electronics that are voltage-sensitive or specify a particular chemistry. A cell that fits the compartment may still be unsuitable for the device.

For AAA use, confirm whether the configuration includes the required converters or sleeves and whether your device’s compartment accommodates them. Linogy recommends its own batteries for the best system experience, but the product listing does not establish compatibility with every device. Freeman reported that the eight-bay charger worked reliably with Linogy cells and three brands of NiMH batteries. He also found it bulky and the AAA adapters fiddly; those are his observations from use, not a guarantee of every user’s experience. If you mainly need to charge a few cells on the go, Linogy also lists a portable four-slot charger, but the available test results do not compare its performance with the eight-bay model.

Linogy lists USB-C 5V/3A input and independent charging slots for its eight-slot charger, with support for Li-ion, NiMH, and NiCd cells. The listed operating range is 0–35°C; the AA Pro cell’s listed charging temperature range is 0–45°C. Those are separate manufacturer specifications, so follow the instructions for the exact charger and battery model you own rather than assuming one temperature range applies to both.
How Linogy compares with alkaline and NiMH

The comparison is strongest on the specific tests and specifications above; it does not establish a universal runtime or lifetime-cost advantage. Battery chemistry, the device’s power draw, and how often you recharge all affect the practical choice.

Care, transport, and recycling
Linogy’s EU safety notice says not to short-circuit, crush, or incinerate the cells, or expose them to excessive heat, and to keep them away from children. Follow current carrier and airline rules before transporting lithium-ion batteries; requirements can depend on route and how the cells are packed. For disposal, use designated battery collection points rather than household waste and check local rules. Linogy’s notice describes EU-focused guidance and names MAKEBLOCK EUROPE B.V. as providing recycling solutions in the EU/EEA and UK; local take-back details may vary.
