LG announced on October 14, 2026 that its Sound Suite H7 soundbar now supports DTS:X and Google Cast through software updates. The update also enables two W7 subwoofers in compatible setups and expands wireless support for 6 GHz Wi-Fi and stereo connections on 5 GHz DFS channels. Availability can differ by model, country, router and software version.
What the October 2026 update adds
DTS:X on the H7
The H7 soundbar now supports DTS:X for compatible movies, shows, games and source devices. DTS:X is object-based surround audio: instead of assigning every sound to a fixed channel, a compatible soundtrack can position effects around and above the listener. The H7, source device, television connection and content all need to support the relevant audio format for DTS:X playback.
Google Cast streaming
Google Cast is also available on H7. It lets users send music, podcasts and other entertainment directly to the Sound Suite system from compatible casting apps and devices, rather than relying only on a television’s audio output.

Two-subwoofer operation and wireless changes
Compatible Sound Suite configurations can use two W7 wireless subwoofers. LG says the second subwoofer can improve bass consistency between seating positions, because low frequencies are distributed from more than one location. The update also broadens compatibility with 6 GHz Wi-Fi networks and stereo configurations operating on 5 GHz DFS channels, although the exact result depends on the router and regional wireless rules.

H7 alone
An H7-only system is the simplest and least expensive route. It suits smaller rooms, listeners who want fewer devices and setups where rear-speaker placement is difficult. It still receives the new DTS:X and Google Cast features.

Adding M5 or M7 units creates a more enveloping presentation and gives the system additional placement flexibility. M5 is a mono speaker; LG says at least two M5 units are required for a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup. M7 is the larger wireless surround option listed by LG.

H7 with one or two W7 subwoofers
One W7 adds dedicated low-frequency output. Two W7 units are intended for compatible configurations and can make bass more even across multiple seats, particularly in larger or irregular rooms. Two subwoofers also increase cost and require suitable placement and power outlets.
TV and connection requirements
LG says H7 can enable Dolby Atmos FlexConnect with any television through HDMI. However, connecting speakers directly to a television requires a supported LG TV. Confirm the television’s HDMI audio features, the H7 firmware and the specific regional compatibility list before buying additional speakers.

For DTS:X, use a source device and playback app or disc that provide DTS:X, and verify that the television or HDMI path passes the format correctly. Google Cast requires a compatible casting device or app and a working network connection. Wi-Fi 6 GHz support is not universal: the router, country and software version must all allow it.

What the new features mean in practice
- Choose H7 first if you want the announced DTS:X and Google Cast capabilities with the fewest components.
- Add M5 or M7 speakers when rear or side immersion matters more than a minimal footprint.
- Use at least two M5 units for an Atmos FlexConnect arrangement, because each M5 is mono.
- Consider two W7 subwoofers when several seats need similar bass response, not merely because the room is large.
- Check HDMI and TV compatibility before planning direct speaker-to-TV connections.
Estimated system budgets from LG’s published prices
Using the January 6, 2026 U.S. list prices, an H7 plus two M5 speakers totals $1,499.97 before tax. An H7 plus two M7 speakers totals $1,799.97. Adding one W7 to H7 totals $1,599.98, while adding two W7 subwoofers totals $2,199.97. These arithmetic examples use the published list prices and do not include stands, tax, delivery or later price changes.

Software-update and compatibility caveats
LG describes DTS:X, Google Cast, two-W7 operation and the wireless-network enhancements as software-delivered features. Update eligibility is not necessarily identical across every Sound Suite component or region. Before troubleshooting hardware, check that the H7 and connected speakers run current firmware, the router uses a supported band and channel, and the source device is sending a format the system can decode.
LG’s audio division head Lee Jeong-seok said the changes are intended to give owners more freedom to build a system around their home, content and listening habits. Dolby’s John Couling likewise described Atmos FlexConnect as designed for varied speaker placement without the complexity of a traditional wired theater.
The Bottom Line
The H7 is the key Sound Suite product in this update: it gains DTS:X and Google Cast, while compatible systems can add M5 or M7 surrounds and one or two W7 subwoofers. Confirm firmware, HDMI, television, router and regional support before committing to a configuration.
