The LG Gram 14Z90P-G.AR62A is a discontinued 14-inch laptop that pairs a 1kg listed weight with an Intel Core i5-1135G7, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Its appeal is portability and a roomy 16:10 screen; the drawbacks are a reflective display and the uncertainty of buying an older used machine. Consider it only if the specific unit is in good condition, its battery is healthy and the price reflects its age.
What configuration does the AR62A have?
CHOICE identifies the exact 14Z90P-G.AR62A as a 2021-era configuration with an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel Iris Xe graphics and a 14-inch, 1920×1200 display. Its listed laptop weight is 1kg. CHOICE marks the model discontinued; its displayed $1,699 is not a current price quote. CHOICE’s AR62A listing does not expose its expert score, battery result, display assessment or tester comments to non-members, so those details cannot be used to rate this exact configuration.
Specifications for other 14Z90P suffixes should not be silently substituted. LG Australia’s page for the AR64A lists a 999g weight, 72Wh battery, 14-inch 16:10 IPS screen at 1920×1200, i5-1135G7, 8GB onboard LPDDR4x and 512GB storage plus an additional slot. It also lists two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI, a headphone output and USB-C DC-in. That is useful family-level context, not proof that every AR62A has the same storage or other configuration details. LG Australia’s AR64A specifications identify the different suffix.

How does it balance portability, screen space and battery life?
Low carry weight and a taller 14-inch workspace
At 1kg as listed by CHOICE, the AR62A is notably easy to carry for a 14-inch laptop. The 1920×1200 resolution uses a 16:10 shape, which provides more vertical workspace than a 16:9 screen of the same width. That can be useful when reading documents, browsing or working with long pages, while keeping the laptop more compact than a larger-screen machine.
Strong family-level endurance, not an AR62A runtime guarantee
Notebookcheck’s May 2021 review measured a different, higher-spec 14Z90P: an i7-1165G7 with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. In that review unit’s protocol, Wi-Fi browsing lasted 14 hours 14 minutes, and 1080p video playback lasted 19 hours 9 minutes. The same test reported 11 hours 33 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing at maximum brightness, 48 hours 45 minutes idle at minimum brightness with Wi-Fi off, and 3 hours 39 minutes under maximum-brightness load. These are results for specific test conditions and that i7 machine, not guarantees for the AR62A or ordinary mixed use. Notebookcheck’s 2021 test and review details the device and protocols.

A reflective finish can undermine bright-room usability
Notebookcheck found the tested 14Z90P’s glossy screen strongly reflective and noted weak color reproduction. Reflections can be distracting near windows or under bright overhead lighting; this matters more for frequent outdoor or bright-room work than for a dimmer indoor desk. The review unit’s display observations are independent evidence about that tested configuration, not a measurement of the exact AR62A panel.

What did the independent review find—and what did it test?
Notebookcheck described its i7 test machine as light and compact, quiet in operation, and well equipped with ports, while criticizing the reflective display and color reproduction. The review unit weighed 967g and had a glossy 14-inch 1920×1200 IPS panel. LG Deutschland supplied that review unit. Its favorable remarks and measured results belong to that i7/16GB/1TB configuration; they should not be presented as hands-on findings for the AR62A’s i5/8GB/256GB configuration.

The distinction matters when assessing performance as well as battery life. The two processors are from the same generation, but the independent review’s machine had twice the memory and four times the listed SSD capacity compared with the CHOICE AR62A record. Its performance impressions therefore do not establish how the lower-spec AR62A will behave in a particular workload.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is a used AR62A worth buying?
It can suit someone who values low weight, a 14-inch 16:10 workspace and a broad port selection, and who finds a well-kept unit at an appropriate used price. It is a less attractive choice if bright-screen readability, color work, a new-machine warranty or predictable battery life is essential. CHOICE reports the model discontinued, so availability and support depend on the seller and the buyer’s region.

- Confirm the full model code is 14Z90P-G.AR62A, and check the installed RAM and SSD capacity against the seller’s description.
- Ask about battery condition and test unplugged operation if possible; the i7 review’s endurance figures are not a substitute for checking an aged battery.
- Inspect the screen with a bright background and at the lighting conditions where you expect to work, paying attention to reflections and visible defects.
- Check the keyboard, ports, charging behavior and hinge, and confirm that the seller offers a return window or other recourse.
- Establish what warranty or local service, if any, remains for that particular unit. Do not assume that family-level port or charging details apply without checking the AR62A itself.
