Les Benjamins turned Cappadocia’s Rose Valley into a runway for its 15th anniversary, combining 10 fashion looks with three custom hot-air balloons designed digitally on an iPad Pro with the M5 chip. Designer Bünyamin Aydın developed the forms from photographs, fabric references and Cappadocia’s native flowers, then worked with ballooning specialists to make the concepts flight-ready.
What happened at the Les Benjamins anniversary show
The Istanbul-based lifestyle brand presented its “From Earth to Sky” collection in Rose Valley, Cappadocia, Türkiye. The 2026 presentation used three giant balloons in neon green, yellow and pink, alongside three runways arranged through the valley. The setting and changing natural light made the landscape part of the show rather than a backdrop.
The collection marks 15 years of Les Benjamins and combines contemporary silhouettes, Turkish fabrics and Silk Road references. Aydın summarized the design approach as, “The canvas is the West; the paint is the East.”

1. Field research became a digital reference library
During an early-2026 research trip, Aydın used an iPhone 17 Pro Max to photograph Cappadocia’s terrain and record 4K video at 60 frames per second. Those images, fabric references and initial ideas were assembled into mood boards in Freeform, giving the team a shared visual starting point.

2. Procreate turned one structure into many options
Aydın drew a balloon structure in Procreate, duplicated it and altered the copies to test proportions and surface ideas. He refined three final forms from dozens of variations. This approach made it possible to iterate quickly while keeping the designs connected as a family.
3. Apple Pencil Pro supported detailed iteration
Apple Pencil Pro’s hover feature let Aydın preview a stroke before applying it. Squeeze and double-tap controls, together with low latency, supported rapid switching between drawing actions. Aydın said that working with high-resolution images, multiple layers and textures “felt just like working on a desktop” on the iPad Pro.

4. Digital sketches became engineering drawings
Pasha Balloons, described by Apple as one of Cappadocia’s ballooning pioneers, translated the sketches into engineering drawings and checked that the forms could fly. The balloons were therefore custom-built objects, not stock decorations added to the runway after the collection was designed.

- Echinops: a spiky green flower that informed the neon-green balloon and related design details.
- Flutelike pink trumpets: the source for pink forms and color accents.
- Wild yellow tulips: the inspiration for the yellow balloon and corresponding looks.
These botanical references informed both the 10 garments and the three balloons, tying the physical environment to the clothing and the aerial sculptures.

Why the iPad mattered to this project
The device functioned as a portable creative workstation rather than merely a presentation screen. Aydın could collect references in the field, organize them in a mood board and draw over high-resolution imagery without moving between a camera, desktop computer and separate sketching setup. That portability is especially relevant to a project whose visual decisions depended on a specific landscape.

The workflow also created a clearer handoff between design and fabrication. Instead of treating balloon construction as an unrelated production task, the team supplied a visual system that Pasha Balloons could interpret as engineering drawings. The process linked research, digital iteration and physical safety checks while preserving the organic forms derived from local plants.

French filmmaker Neels Castillon shot the completed presentation on an iPhone 18 Pro Max. The production had to account for three runways and changing natural light in Rose Valley, conditions that made timing and camera mobility important. The earlier iPhone 17 Pro Max footage served a different role: documenting the research environment before the show existed.

What is—and is not—known about the balloons
Apple’s 2026 account confirms three custom-built, flight-capable balloons and identifies Pasha Balloons as the engineering partner. It does not publish their dimensions, flight specifications, production costs, audience numbers or sales figures. Those details cannot be inferred from the runway images or from the number of garments in the collection.
The published figures are limited to the project’s 15th-anniversary context, 10 looks, three balloons and the 4K video recorded at 60 fps during research. Availability of the specific iPad Pro M5 configuration and Apple Pencil Pro varies by market and date; the story identifies the hardware used by Aydın but does not provide a retail configuration or project budget.
Why this project stands out
“From Earth to Sky” is notable because the same design logic operates at two scales. Flowers found on the ground supplied the colors and silhouettes for garments, while a tablet-based drawing process expanded those references into structures large enough to fly above the valley. The result is a documented chain from local observation to digital concept, specialist engineering and a physical fashion presentation.
