There is no responsible winner to announce yet. The ThinkCentre M75q Gen 2 is a configurable Lenovo Tiny 1L platform, while the SER5 configuration in this comparison is not identified. Without the SER5’s exact processor, memory, storage, ports, wireless card, warranty and price, a performance or value verdict would be guesswork. For a home-office purchase, verify the specific SER5 SKU first, then compare it with the exact M75q listing rather than relying on either model name.
The M75q Gen 2 is already a well-defined platform: it can take up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 memory, supports two drive positions, offers DisplayPort and HDMI as standard, and can drive up to three independent displays when the installed and optional ports support the required monitors. Those are platform capabilities, not guarantees that every used or retail listing includes the same processor, wireless card, ports or warranty.
Why the model names are not enough
Both names describe a family of small computers rather than one fixed specification. Lenovo sold the ThinkCentre M75q Gen 2 with several Ryzen and Ryzen PRO processors, different wireless cards, optional rear-port modules and multiple warranty arrangements. A listing can therefore be substantially different from another listing carrying the same “M75q Gen 2” name.
“Beelink SER5” is equally incomplete for a head-to-head decision. The processor generation, installed RAM, storage capacity, operating-system license, wireless hardware and seller warranty must be tied to a particular SKU and region. The available evidence does not establish those SER5 details, nor does it provide a benchmark, noise measurement, power test or current price. Treat any comparison that assigns the SER5 a single performance level as unverified until its primary specification page is available.

- Desktop Computer offers maximum efficiency and convenience
- Ryzen 3 PRO processor offers maximum productivity in a timely efficient manner
- Windows 11 Pro OS makes you more productive and creative
- 256 GB SSD keeps your running programs active while your computer resumes from suspension in seconds
- AMD Radeon Graphics shared graphic card for lag-free and smooth performance
The practical conclusion is simple: identify the two exact machines first. Then compare the configuration you can actually buy, including upgrades and support, not the maximum specification printed in a platform brochure.
What Lenovo confirms about the ThinkCentre M75q Gen 2
Physical size and mounting
Lenovo classifies the M75q Gen 2 as a Tiny 1L system. The PSREF lists dimensions of 179 × 183 × 34.5/37 mm with rubber feet and an approximate weight of 1.25 kg. This makes it suitable for a small desk, a monitor shelf or a VESA-style mounting arrangement when the particular bundle includes the required bracket. Check the listing before assuming a mounting kit or stand is included.
Processor choices
The platform has configurations across Ryzen and Ryzen PRO families. That range is too broad to describe every M75q Gen 2 as equally fast. Read the processor model in the listing or BIOS, then judge it against your workload. A machine with a lower-tier chip may be perfectly adequate for documents and browser tabs, while a higher-tier option is more appropriate for sustained spreadsheets, local development tools or heavier multitasking.
Memory capacity and upgrade path
Two SODIMM slots support up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 in a dual-channel-capable arrangement. Lenovo notes that installed memory may run below 3200 MT/s when the processor does not support that speed. The 64 GB figure is the platform maximum based on Lenovo’s specification; it does not mean every seller has installed 64 GB or that every aftermarket module has been validated.
For a home office, record both the total installed memory and the module layout. A listing with two 8 GB modules behaves differently from one with a single 16 GB module in memory-bandwidth-sensitive work, and the latter leaves a slot available for expansion. Confirm whether the machine uses standard removable SODIMMs before budgeting an upgrade.
Storage options
Lenovo documents support for up to two drives: one 2.5-inch SATA drive and one M.2 SSD. The PSREF includes M.2 2242 PCIe 3.0 x2 and M.2 2280 NVMe options, including PCIe 3.0 x4 and PCIe 4.0 x4 configurations. Lenovo’s capacity maxima are based on its tested offerings, so they should not be read as certification for every aftermarket drive or capacity.

- Desktop Computer offers maximum efficiency and convenience
- Ryzen 7 PRO processor offers maximum productivity in a timely efficient manner
- Windows 11 Pro OS with all the creative and productive tools you need
- 512 GB SSD is enough to store your favorite songs, movies, pictures, and essential documents
- No drive offers convenient media playing, writing, and recording
Ask the seller which drive is installed, whether a 2.5-inch caddy and cable are present, and whether an empty M.2 slot is available. A bare chassis or a refurbished unit may omit those accessories even though the platform supports the bay.
Ports and networking
The standard port set listed by Lenovo includes:
- Front USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 data port.
- Front USB 3.2 Gen 2 port.
- Front headphone/microphone combo jack.
- Rear HDMI 1.4b and DisplayPort 1.4.
- Gigabit Ethernet.
- Two rear USB 2.0 ports and two rear USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports.
Optional rear-port configurations can add or substitute display, USB-C, serial, parallel or other connectors. Therefore, a photograph showing an extra port is not enough: confirm the installed module in the exact unit.
Wireless is also configurable. Lenovo lists Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E and no-WLAN versions, with Bluetooth versions determined by the installed card. Do not assume Wi-Fi 6 or 6E from the model name. Gigabit Ethernet is listed for the platform and is the predictable choice for a fixed desk when your router and cabling support it.
Display support
Lenovo states support for up to three independent displays through the onboard and optional ports. For the listed graphics configurations, the PSREF gives up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz over DisplayPort and up to 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz or 2560 × 1440 at 60 Hz over HDMI.
Those limits depend on the processor, graphics implementation, optional ports, monitor inputs and refresh-rate requirements. Before buying a three-screen setup, map each monitor to a physical port and check whether an adapter is needed. Do not promise 4K at 60 Hz through the HDMI output listed above.

Lenovo lists several base-warranty possibilities for the M75q Gen 2: one-year courier/carry-in, one-year limited onsite, three-year limited onsite or no base warranty. The applicable term depends on configuration and region. Verify the serial number, seller’s written terms and return window for the individual machine, especially when buying used or refurbished.

What is not established for the Beelink SER5
The SER5 variant in this title is unspecified, and no primary-source specification is available here that identifies its processor, memory configuration, storage, wireless card, ports, dimensions, acoustics, power use, warranty, price or availability. That is an evidence limitation, not proof that the SER5 lacks a feature.
Before comparing it with Lenovo, obtain a manufacturer or seller page that clearly states the exact CPU model, RAM arrangement and maximum, SSD type and capacity, video outputs, USB versions, Ethernet speed, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth versions, operating-system license, power adapter, warranty geography and return policy. Save a copy or screenshot of the specification because marketplace listings can change.
Home-office requirements to define before comparing
Everyday office work
Documents, email, web applications and video calls usually depend more on adequate memory, a responsive SSD, stable networking and camera or headset compatibility than on a high-end processor. Set a minimum RAM target for the number of browser tabs and applications you keep open, then compare the installed configuration rather than the platform maximum.

For large workbooks, local databases, virtual machines or simultaneous meetings and browser sessions, identify the exact CPU and sustained cooling design. A nominally similar processor can behave differently in a tiny chassis when it reaches its long-term power limit. No comparative sustained-performance test is established for these two models, so do not infer a winner from core counts alone.
Two or three monitors
List the resolution and refresh rate of every screen. The M75q’s documented DisplayPort and HDMI limits may be sufficient for office panels, but optional ports and adapters can change the result. Require the SER5 seller to specify native outputs and supported combinations instead of relying on a product photograph.
Remote work and network reliability
Confirm Wi-Fi generation and Bluetooth version on both units, and check whether the wireless antennas are included. If the computer will remain beside the router, Gigabit Ethernet can avoid wireless variability. For a wireless-only desk, the M75q’s configurable “no-WLAN” option is a reason to verify the card before purchase.

How to verify a listing before you buy
- Capture the full identifier. Record the Lenovo machine type/serial or the SER5 SKU, processor, RAM, SSD, operating system and seller condition. Reject listings that use only a family name.
- Map your peripherals. Count monitors, USB devices, headset, webcam, printer and Ethernet connection. Match each to a native port and note every adapter or hub required.
- Check memory and storage access. Confirm the number of populated SODIMM slots, the free drive position, and whether the necessary caddy, cable and mounting screws are included.
- Verify wireless and networking. Confirm the exact Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet hardware. A “wireless ready” description is not a substitute for a named card.
- Price the complete setup. Add the cost of RAM, SSD, display adapters, mounting hardware and a legitimate operating-system license. Compare that total with a similarly equipped alternative.
- Read support terms. Record warranty length, service method, geographic coverage, return period, seller identity and whether the unit is new, refurbished or used.
- Confirm the power adapter. Small PCs are often sold without the original adapter. Verify voltage, wattage, connector and regional plug before relying on the advertised configuration.
- Test immediately after delivery. In the return window, check every USB and display output, memory capacity, SSD health, wireless connection, Ethernet link and sleep/wake behavior.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Comparing a maximum specification with an entry listing
“Up to 64 GB” describes the M75q platform, not the RAM in a particular machine. The same applies to two drives and three displays. Compare installed components and the cost of reaching your target, not headline maxima.
Assuming all rear ports are present
The M75q can use optional rear-port modules. A listing with a different module may omit a connector you need or add one you do not. Request a clear rear-panel photograph and a written port list.
Ignoring memory speed qualifications
DDR4-3200 is the supported ceiling stated for the M75q platform, but Lenovo notes that actual operation can be slower depending on the processor. Match modules sensibly and judge the system by its installed CPU and memory configuration.
Buying a monitor adapter before checking the computer
Adapters differ by signal, resolution and refresh rate. Identify the installed display ports and the monitor inputs first; then select an adapter that supports the required mode.
Overlooking warranty gaps in used listings
A refurbished M75q may have no base warranty even though other configurations had one or three years of coverage. Check the serial number and seller policy rather than assuming Lenovo’s longest listed term applies.

Calling the SER5 a single performance tier
Without an exact SER5 processor and configuration, statements such as “the SER5 is faster” or “the M75q is quieter” are unsupported. Obtain the SKU and independent, like-for-like tests before making those claims.
Which one fits different home-office situations?
Choose the M75q when Lenovo’s documented platform matches your needs
The M75q is the easier choice to evaluate when you need a compact 1L chassis, standard DisplayPort and HDMI, a known two-SODIMM upgrade path, two possible drive positions, or a specific Lenovo service term. Select the exact processor, wireless card, rear-port module and warranty that satisfy your desk setup.
Choose the SER5 only after its exact configuration is documented
The SER5 can be considered when its listing provides complete primary specifications and the total configured price is attractive for your workload. Do not accept an unspecified CPU, RAM, storage or warranty when those items determine office responsiveness and ownership risk.

If a seller cannot identify the processor, installed memory, storage, display outputs or warranty, the sensible decision is to keep shopping. Missing information prevents a fair comparison and can turn an apparently inexpensive mini PC into an expensive upgrade project.
A practical decision rule
- Write down your required monitors, applications, memory target, storage target and network method.
- Find an M75q listing whose processor, RAM, SSD, ports, wireless card and warranty are explicitly identified.
- Find a SER5 listing with the same information from a primary or accountable seller source.
- Eliminate any configuration that cannot connect your monitors and peripherals without unplanned adapters.
- Compare total configured cost and support terms only after both systems are like for like.
- If the SER5 specification remains unknown, buy the verifiable M75q configuration or wait; do not treat missing data as a performance advantage.
What a fair future comparison should measure
A properly supported head-to-head review would use the same operating-system build, memory capacity, storage class, power settings and workload on both exact SKUs. It should report office-app responsiveness, browser-tab multitasking, video-call behavior, sustained CPU performance, fan noise, idle and load power, display combinations, wireless throughput, upgrade access and warranty terms. None of those comparative test results is established here, so this guide deliberately stops at the specification and buying decision that the available evidence supports.
