Verdict: The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 (TB321FU) is a compact, high-performance Android gaming tablet with an excellent 8.8-inch 165Hz display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance. It is a strong choice when portability and fast gameplay matter more than a large productivity screen or all-day unplugged gaming.
Battery life depends sharply on workload. Lenovo’s laboratory maximums and independent light-use tests suggest long endurance, while demanding games can consume roughly 20% in 30 minutes in one independent review. This review covers Gen 3 specifically; Lenovo now also lists a newer Legion Tab Gen 5, so Gen 3 should not be mistaken for the current generation.
What the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is
The Legion Tab Gen 3 is Lenovo’s 8.8-inch Android tablet identified by model number TB321FU. Its design target is portable gaming: it combines a flagship-class Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12GB of LPDDR5X memory, fast UFS 4.0 storage, a high-refresh display and gaming-oriented charging features in a body smaller than most 11- or 13-inch tablets.
That compact format defines the product. It is easier to hold for long sessions, fit into a small bag or use with a telescopic controller than a large tablet. The trade-off is a smaller workspace for split-screen documents, spreadsheets and creative applications. It is best understood as a gaming-first tablet that also handles video, web browsing, remote play and everyday Android tasks.

Gen 3 versus the newer Gen 5
In 2026, Lenovo’s product-reference material also lists a Legion Tab Gen 5 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform and a 9000mAh typical battery. Those specifications establish that Gen 5 is newer, but they do not prove a particular battery-life or frame-rate improvement without tests using the same games, settings, firmware and conditions. Any purchase decision should therefore identify the exact generation and TB321FU model rather than relying on the Legion Tab name alone.
Core specifications
| Component | Legion Tab Gen 3 (TB321FU) | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 8.8-inch LTPS touchscreen, 2560×1600, 16:10 aspect ratio | Sharp text and game imagery in a compact format |
| Refresh rate | 165Hz | Allows very fluid scrolling and supports games capable of high frame rates; it does not make every game run at 165 frames per second |
| Brightness | 500 nits typical; 900 nits high-brightness mode | Suitable for indoor use and better equipped for bright environments, subject to power and mode limits |
| Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 | Flagship-level Android performance for demanding games and multitasking |
| Memory | 12GB LPDDR5X | Generous headroom for games and background applications |
| Storage | 256GB UFS 4.0 | Fast app loading, with capacity that heavy game libraries can consume quickly |
| Battery | 6550mAh typical | Longer light-use endurance than demanding gaming endurance |
| Charging | USB Power Delivery, bypass charging; Lenovo recommends a 68W charger | Supports faster top-ups and can reduce battery charging during supported gaming use |
| Ports | Two USB-C ports | More flexibility for charging, accessories and a wired connection, depending on the accessory |
| Mobile connectivity | No WWAN listed for this configuration | Plan to use Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot rather than built-in cellular service |
| Cooling | Legion Coldfront vapor-chamber cooling | Designed to manage heat during sustained performance, although heat and power draw remain workload-dependent |
Lenovo’s listed configuration is specific: 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage are not interchangeable with specifications from another Legion Tab generation or regional SKU. Check the model identifier and the package contents in the market where you are buying.
Display: the central reason to buy it
The 8.8-inch 2560×1600 panel is unusually dense for a gaming tablet. Its 16:10 ratio gives games and video more vertical space than a wide 16:9 panel while remaining comfortable to hold in landscape orientation. Text, interface elements and map details can look crisp at normal tablet viewing distances.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

The 165Hz refresh rate is valuable in two ways. The interface can feel more immediate when the software and frame rate support it, and compatible games can show more frequent updates than a 60Hz tablet. However, refresh rate is the display’s ceiling, not a promise from each game. A title limited to 60 frames per second still displays 60 frames per second, and performance may vary with graphics quality, thermal state and game updates.
Lenovo rates typical brightness at 500 nits and a high-brightness mode at 900 nits. Those are different operating conditions, not two interchangeable everyday brightness figures. High-brightness operation can affect power use and thermal behavior, so use it when the environment requires it rather than treating 900 nits as the permanent baseline.
Performance in benchmarks and games
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage give the Gen 3 the right hardware for demanding Android games. Lenovo’s vapor-chamber cooling is intended to help sustain that performance, but specifications alone cannot establish a constant frame rate. Temperature, firmware, game version, graphics settings and performance mode all matter.
Independent benchmark results
| Benchmark | Result | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6.7 single-core | 2187 | Notebookcheck result from its TB321FU review unit in 2025 |
| Geekbench 6.7 multi-core | 6591 | Notebookcheck result from the same review unit and test conditions |
| AnTuTu v10 | 1,970,442 | Notebookcheck result; benchmark version, software and temperature affect scores |
These numbers are useful comparison points, not a guarantee of game behavior. A benchmark is a short, standardized workload; a game can produce a different mix of CPU, GPU, storage and thermal demands. Compare results only when the benchmark version and test protocol match.

Reported game behavior
Android Authority’s reviewer ran Genshin Impact at high graphics and 60fps, reporting performance near 60fps for much of the session with a brief drop during a cutscene transition. The same review reported Bright Memory Infinite often staying above 100fps during action. Those observations belong to that review unit, game versions and settings; they should not be read as a universal result for every title.
In practical terms, the Gen 3 has enough performance for demanding Android games, a responsive interface and high-refresh play where a game supports it. The important limitation is sustained behavior: pushing high graphics, high frame rates and high brightness simultaneously increases heat and battery drain. The tablet can be fast without making intensive gaming an all-day unplugged activity.
Battery life: separate light use from serious gaming
The Gen 3 uses a 6550mAh typical battery. Lenovo’s PSREF lists the following approximate maximums from its own internal tests:
| Workload | Lenovo listed maximum | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Online video playback | 16.06 hours | Lenovo internal-test maximum, not a guaranteed typical result |
| Web browsing | 16.44 hours | Lenovo internal-test maximum, not a guaranteed typical result |
| Online meeting | 18.58 hours | Lenovo internal-test maximum, not a guaranteed typical result |
| Online music playback | 68.24 hours | Lenovo internal-test maximum under the stated test methodology |
Lenovo explicitly says: “All battery life claims are approximate and based on internal testing under optimal laboratory and network conditions.” The company also notes that configuration, usage, software, operating conditions, wireless features, power settings and screen brightness change actual results. These figures are therefore best used as an upper-bound reference for lighter workloads, not as a promise that a game will run for 16 hours.
Independent endurance results
Tom’s Guide recorded 15 hours and 40 minutes in its laboratory battery test in 2025. Its reviewer also reported charging the tablet to 38% in 30 minutes. That test result and charging observation apply to the publication’s setup and are not guarantees for every region, charger, cable, brightness level or software build.
For demanding gaming, Android Authority observed a 20% battery drop after around 30 minutes and estimated about two and a half hours of serious gaming per full charge under its conditions. Game engine, frame-rate target, graphics quality, brightness, connectivity and power mode can move that estimate substantially. The result illustrates why a light-use battery figure should never be presented as gaming endurance.
What this means for buyers
- Expect the strongest endurance during video, browsing, music and other lower-power tasks.
- Plan for substantially shorter sessions when running a demanding 3D game at high settings and high brightness.
- Carry a suitable USB-C Power Delivery charger for travel if you regularly play away from an outlet.
- Use bypass charging where supported during long plugged-in sessions to reduce the need to keep filling the battery while gaming.
Charging, ports and connectivity
Lenovo lists two USB-C ports, USB Power Delivery and bypass charging for the Gen 3. Two ports are useful on a gaming tablet because they can simplify accessory placement or leave one connection available while the other handles charging, although the behavior of a particular accessory depends on its design and the port used.

Lenovo recommends a 68W charger. The charger included in the box, if any, can vary by region and package, so confirm the local listing rather than assuming the recommended adapter is bundled. A compatible USB-C PD charger is an optional accessory path, not a requirement to call the tablet functional.
The Gen 3 configuration lists no WWAN support. It is therefore a Wi-Fi tablet; outside a Wi-Fi network, online play and remote access require a phone hotspot or another connection. Cellular availability should not be inferred from the Legion Tab family name.
Everyday use and remote play
The compact screen is well suited to handheld video, reading, browsing and games where a large tablet would feel cumbersome. The 16:10 panel gives media and apps more height than a phone while remaining easier to grip than a full-size productivity tablet.
Tom’s Guide described using the Gen 3 for Xbox and PC remote play with a telescopic controller. That is a reviewer’s use case, not a guarantee of performance on every home network or service. Remote play depends on latency, upstream bandwidth, router quality and the host device, so the tablet’s high refresh rate cannot remove network delay.
For productivity, the limitation is physical rather than processor-related. An 8.8-inch screen can handle email, documents and quick edits, but split-screen work and sustained spreadsheet or desktop-style use are more comfortable on a larger tablet or monitor. Choose the Gen 3 for portability first, not as a replacement for a large workstation display.

Accessories and package checks
Lenovo supports optional accessories such as a compatible USB-C PD charger, a folio case, a telescopic controller and the Tab Pen Plus stylus. Compatibility is model-specific. Lenovo says the pen is not bundled and directs buyers to the compatibility information for the exact model, so verify TB321FU support before purchasing a stylus or case.
Controller fit, port clearance and case dimensions can affect comfort in landscape gaming. If you use a telescopic controller, check that its USB-C connector or wireless connection does not obstruct the tablet’s preferred charging setup. These are accessory considerations rather than evidence that every controller or pen will work.

- Require built-in cellular connectivity; WWAN is not listed for this Gen 3 configuration.
- Need the newest Legion Tab generation rather than a previous model.
How to compare Gen 3 with Gen 5 or another gaming tablet
Do not compare a manufacturer’s maximum battery figure with an independent gaming test and call the difference a product advantage. Use the same workload and conditions wherever possible.
| Comparison area | Questions to ask |
|---|---|
| Sustained performance | Was the same benchmark or stress test used? Were device mode, firmware, ambient temperature and duration equivalent? |
| Battery | Were brightness, refresh rate, wireless connections, game settings and test duration matched? |
| Display | How do size, resolution, refresh rate, brightness and aspect ratio fit your games and media? |
| Portability | Will you hold, carry or mount the device for the way you actually play? |
| Charging | Are USB-C ports, PD support, bypass charging and the recommended or included charger comparable? |
| Connectivity | Does the exact SKU include cellular service, or will you depend on Wi-Fi and a hotspot? |
| Price and availability | What is the current price and stock status in your country for the exact model number? |
Gen 5’s listed Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 9000mAh typical battery make it a newer same-family alternative. They do not, by themselves, quantify a battery-life uplift or establish how much faster it is in a particular game. Notebookcheck has published Gen 5 stress-test comparisons, but results still need their own test-version and protocol notes.
Common buying and usage pitfalls
Mistaking 165Hz for guaranteed 165fps
The panel can refresh up to 165 times per second, but a game must render enough frames to use that capability. Set expectations from the game’s own frame-rate options and independent tests, not from the display specification alone.
Using light-use endurance to predict gaming time
Video playback and browsing draw much less power than a high-resolution 3D game. The independent gaming observation of a 20% drop in about 30 minutes is the more relevant warning for intensive play.
Assuming every package includes the same charger or pen
Adapter and package contents vary by region, and the Tab Pen Plus is not bundled according to Lenovo. Confirm what the local SKU includes before budgeting for accessories.
Buying a cellular model that does not exist in this configuration
The Gen 3 TB321FU specification lists no WWAN. If mobile data is essential, verify another model’s connectivity explicitly rather than assuming a SIM or eSIM option.

Final verdict
The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 succeeds because it is focused. Its 8.8-inch 2560×1600 165Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and fast storage deliver the kind of portable performance that large tablets and phones do not always match. Two USB-C ports, PD support and bypass charging reinforce its gaming use case.
Its compromise is equally clear: intensive games can drain the 6550mAh battery quickly, and the compact screen is not the ideal productivity canvas for everyone. Buy it when small size, high performance and handheld gaming matter most. If your priority is long unplugged gaming, cellular service, a larger workspace or the newest Legion hardware, compare alternatives—including Gen 5—using matched tests and the exact local SKU.
