Lemon is a new, Android-only Nintendo Switch emulator built from the Yuzu codebase. It first appeared in September 2026 and reached version 1.2.0 on October 13, 2026. The project is best understood as a fast-moving Yuzu-derived emulator for modern Android phones and handhelds—not an official Yuzu continuation and not a guarantee that every Switch game will run correctly.
What is the Lemon Switch emulator?
Lemon runs Nintendo Switch software on Android and is currently designed primarily around Qualcomm Adreno graphics processors. Its documentation now also covers newer Mali support. The project is free software under GPL v3 or later and states that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.
Is Lemon really the new Yuzu for Android?
“Picks up where Yuzu left off” describes Lemon’s Yuzu lineage and its timing, not an official handover. Lemon’s own documentation identifies its project and repositories, while reporting from Android Authority describes it as based on Yuzu. Lemon should therefore be treated as an independent project that uses Yuzu-derived technology.
What changed in the first releases?
| Release | What it added |
|---|---|
| 1.0.0 — October 2, 2026 | Launcher-style game library, quick in-game performance panel, redesigned Settings, About and Statistics screens, full controller navigation, per-game controller layouts, gamepad hotkeys and an in-app update checker. Requires Android 12 or newer on arm64. |
| 1.2.0 — October 13, 2026 | Lemon FG frame generation and a choice between Lemon FG and Lossless Scaling when the user supplies a compatible Lossless.dll. |
The 1.0.0 release page showed 10,172 APK downloads on October 2, 2026. That is a repository download count at that time, not a count of installed devices or active users.

Which phones can run Lemon?
Every build needs Android 12 or later and a 64-bit ARM processor (arm64). GPU support determines whether the emulator is a sensible choice:
| GPU family | Support and cautions |
|---|---|
| Qualcomm Adreno | Original target and the most established path. The full Lemon build is aimed at recent high-end phones and Android gaming handhelds. |
| Arm Mali | Support arrived in version 1.1. Lemon converts BCn textures to ASTC, and version 1.2 adds GPU conversion of BC4/BC5 textures to EAC. Compatibility can vary more by game because this support is newer. |
| PowerVR | Unsupported. |
| Samsung Xclipse | Unsupported. |
The FAQ describes three practical package choices:
- Full Lemon: intended for recent, higher-end Adreno phones and compatible handhelds.
- Lemon Lite: uses lighter defaults for Adreno 6xx/7xx and Mali hardware.
- Lemon Lite & Spoofed: a separate Lite variant for devices that need its spoofing configuration.
On Adreno 830, the bundled Lemon-Ade driver, based on the open-source Turnip driver, is selected automatically. If a game fails to start, Lemon can fall back to the phone’s system driver.

How to download and set up Lemon safely
- Check Settings > About phone and confirm Android 12 or later, then verify that the device uses an arm64 build and a supported GPU.
- Get the APK only from
git.lemon-emu.org,lemon-emu.orgor the project’s official GitHub mirror. The FAQ warns that the project cannot vouch for other sites offering a “Lemon APK.” - Install the APK and allow Android’s package-install permission only for the browser or file manager you used to obtain the official file. Revoke that permission afterward if you do not normally sideload applications.
- In Lemon’s setup or games-management screens, point the emulator to your legally dumped game files, keys and firmware. Lemon supports direct loading of compressed NSZ and XCZ dumps as well as ordinary compatible dumps.
- Open a game and use the quick performance panel to check rendering and frame pacing. If a title will not boot, try the system graphics driver instead of Lemon-Ade where that option is available.
Can Lemon import Yuzu saves, keys and firmware?
Yes. Lemon’s changelog says it can import saves, keys and firmware from Eden, Citron and yuzu without requiring the other emulator to be opened. It also provides save export and import, so you can keep a separate backup before experimenting with a new build or graphics driver.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteQuick Save is not a normal save replacement
Quick Save and Quick Load are experimental. The FAQ says the feature has been verified in demanding games but may not restore every game’s state correctly, and its temporary state disappears when Lemon closes. Continue using each game’s own in-game save system and treat Quick Save as a convenience for short testing sessions.

- Compatible with Android devices and fits mobile devices ranging from 100mm to 170mm in length.
- Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light and tactile.
- 2 Pro back paddle buttons
- Profile button. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings. Turbo function.
What features does Lemon include?
- Controller-first navigation: the 1.0.0 release added complete controller navigation, gamepad hotkeys such as R3 + Start and Guide, and layouts that can be configured per game.
- Driver management: compatible graphics drivers can be managed inside the emulator rather than copied manually for every title.
- Multiplayer and extras: Lemon supports ad-hoc multiplayer and Amiibo loading.
- Performance tools: the in-game panel exposes quick performance information, while the launcher library keeps installed titles organized.
A Bluetooth gamepad for Android is the most straightforward accessory for Lemon. Controller behavior can be tuned for each game instead of forcing one global layout.
Does Lemon FG make games faster?
Version 1.2.0 introduced Lemon FG, Lemon’s integrated frame-generation engine. Users can choose it or Lossless Scaling when they provide their own Lossless.dll. Frame generation can make motion appear smoother, but it does not create additional game-simulation frames and can add latency or visual artifacts; results depend on the title, phone and graphics settings.

Known limitations and fixes
Mali games behave differently
Mali support is newer than Adreno support, so the same title may render or perform differently. If a game shows corruption, test the Lite build, switch drivers where possible and compare with a known-good game before assuming the phone is defective.
FIFA 23 face colors are wrong
The FAQ specifically lists incorrect colors on player faces in FIFA 23. This is a documented compatibility issue, not something a general Android graphics setting can be expected to fix.
The game will not launch
- Confirm Android 12+, arm64 and a supported GPU.
- Try the system driver if Lemon-Ade was selected automatically.
- Use the full build on high-end hardware or Lemon Lite on supported Adreno 6xx/7xx and Mali devices.
- Verify that the game, keys and firmware were dumped correctly from your own console.
- Remember that PowerVR and Xclipse devices are outside the documented support range.
Legal requirements
Lemon’s FAQ states: “Emulation itself is legal, but you must use your own games, keys and firmware, dumped from a console you own. We don’t provide them and we don’t help to get them.” Downloading game files, keys or firmware from unofficial sources can raise separate copyright and circumvention issues depending on your country. Use only material you created from hardware you own and check local law.

Verdict
Lemon is a credible new Android-focused branch of the Yuzu ecosystem, with unusually quick releases, save migration, controller-focused design, compressed-dump support and built-in driver and frame-generation features. Its sensible audience is someone with Android 12+, arm64 and a recent Adreno or supported Mali GPU who is willing to test per-game settings. It is not yet a universal Switch solution: GPU coverage is limited, Mali behavior is still developing, and the available performance numbers are project-reported rather than independent tests.
