Larry’s modern setup
The first game places Larry, a character associated with the late 1980s, in contemporary Lost Wages. His attempt to navigate modern dating is organized around Timber, a fictional dating application. Wet Dreams Don’t Dry uses the familiar point-and-click loop: move Larry around scenes, talk with characters, collect objects, inspect the environment and combine inventory items to solve obstacles. Progress depends on reading conversations and experimenting with objects rather than on action-game reflexes.
A contemporary Meristation review praised the game with an 8/10 score in 2018, while also warning that some puzzle logic can be obscure. In practice, that means a blocked path may require an indirect interpretation of a clue, an item combination that is not immediately obvious or a conversation detail that you need to remember. The challenge is part of the traditional adventure design, but players who expect every solution to be signposted may find the logic frustrating.

The first game uses adult sexual references and irreverent humor. Meristation described it as not showing explicit sexual scenes, so its adult tone is primarily delivered through dialogue, jokes and situations rather than on-screen explicit sex. That distinction matters if you are deciding whether it is appropriate to play around other people or for a younger audience: the absence of explicit scenes does not make the subject matter family-friendly.
What Wet Dreams Dry Twice adds
A continuation, not a new starting premise
The sequel follows the events involving Faith and sends Larry into the Kalau’a archipelago in search of her. This gives the second game a clear narrative reason to exist: it advances the unresolved story instead of retelling Larry’s introduction to the modern world.
Meristation’s 2020 review also awarded it 8/10. The same review coverage characterized it as longer while noting that its gameplay and visual presentation remain very similar to the first game. That combination is important. You should expect more adventure rather than a wholesale redesign. If you disliked point-and-click puzzles, the sequel is unlikely to solve that problem; if you enjoyed the first game’s format, the sequel offers more of it in a different setting.
Island travel and construction puzzles
The sequel keeps movement, dialogue and inventory-based problem solving, but it adds travel around the archipelago and item-construction puzzles. Island travel changes how you think about progress: instead of treating one urban area as the main frame of reference, you must account for movement between locations and for the materials needed to construct useful objects.

The additional travel and construction elements expand the number of relationships between locations, people and items, but they do not turn the game into a crafting simulator or an action title. The underlying skill is still observation: listen to conversations, inspect what is available, retain unusual clues and test sensible combinations before resorting to trial and error.
Its content rating signals
The official PlayStation metadata flags crude humor, nudity, sexual content and strong language for the sequel. A contemporary review described sexual references without explicit scenes. Read those statements together: the game is deliberately adult and may contain nudity and sexual material in its presentation, while the review did not characterize it as showing explicit sexual scenes. Content expectations can also vary by platform listing and regional rating practice, so check the store information for your account before purchase.
Story order: can you skip the first game?
What you understand by starting with the sequel
Yes. Meristation said the sequel is not impossible to enjoy without playing its predecessor. You can follow Larry’s immediate objective, explore the islands and solve the new set of obstacles without first completing the earlier title.
What you lose is context. The sequel starts immediately after the first game’s events, so relationships, Larry’s pursuit of Faith and the consequences of the original adventure are already in motion. Playing out of order does not remove the basic plot, but it asks the sequel to explain a continuation while you are still learning the setup. Jokes and references connected to the first game may also land less clearly.
Why the first game is the better introduction
Starting with Wet Dreams Don’t Dry gives you the chronological arc: Larry’s arrival in Lost Wages, his use of Timber and the first stage of his relationship with Faith. You then enter the sequel knowing why he is travelling and what has already happened.
This order also lets you judge the sequel on its intended terms. You will be able to distinguish a deliberate continuation from a missing explanation, and you will recognize returning characters rather than treating them as unexplained additions. If you plan to play both, there is little reason to reverse the order unless you have an immediate preference for the island setting.

Timber and the modern Lost Wages environment provide recurring reference points while Larry learns how the contemporary world works. The review warning about obscure puzzle logic is the main practical caution: keep track of conversations and inspect every potentially useful object instead of assuming the solution will be obvious.
Where the sequel may feel different
The island setting broadens the geography. Travel between islands and item construction add more logistical thinking to the same inventory-and-dialogue foundation. The sequel’s greater length, as described by contemporary coverage, is therefore best understood as more adventure content layered onto the established formula, not as a fundamentally deeper or more sophisticated puzzle engine.

Wet Dreams Dry Twice relocates Larry to the tropical Kalau’a archipelago. The Xbox store description for the first game advertises more than 30 hand-drawn locales and characters. The PlayStation store description for the sequel advertises more than 50 hand-drawn locations and more than 40 new and returning characters.
Those figures should not be treated as a precise, independently measured size comparison. The first listing combines “locales and characters” in one phrase, while the second separates “locations” from “new and returning characters.” They come from different storefront descriptions and use different counting language. The safe conclusion is that the sequel is marketed as a broader island adventure, not that it has a rigorously verified number of scenes or characters that can be directly divided against the first game’s total.

The sequel’s official PlayStation metadata is more explicit about its flags, listing crude humor, nudity, sexual content and strong language. Do not buy the sequel expecting a new genre. Its extra travel and construction puzzles still sit inside the same point-and-click framework. Likewise, do not choose the first game expecting a streamlined puzzle experience: contemporary criticism specifically identified obscure logic as a possible problem. Your tolerance for indirect clues and inventory experimentation is more important than the numerical location counts.

The consistent scores suggest that the sequel was viewed as a solid continuation rather than a dramatic improvement or failure, while the written comparison is more useful for deciding between them: the sequel was considered longer but very similar in mechanics and visuals.
That distinction keeps expectations realistic. If you liked the first game’s humor and puzzle format, the sequel extends the experience. If you wanted the sequel to correct the first game’s fundamental design, the available reviews do not indicate such a transformation.

Steam removal report
PC Gamer reported on October 9, 2026, that publisher Assemble Entertainment announced both games would be removed from Steam on October 23, 2026. The announcement did not give a reason. Any suggestion that a licensing expiry caused the removal is speculation, not an established fact.
Because the current date is October 17, 2026, that reported date is close enough for the catalog to change before you act. Check the live Steam pages and other storefronts immediately before publication or purchase. A delisting announcement can affect new purchases without necessarily answering how existing owners’ libraries or downloads will be handled; the cited report does not establish those policies, so consult the platform’s current notice rather than assuming.
Console listings
The official PlayStation listing identifies Wet Dreams Dry Twice as a PS4 title with a May 18, 2021 release date. Xbox store pages are available for both games. These are digital storefront listings. The available information does not establish that either title has a physical edition, so do not assume that a boxed release, manual or disc is available in your region.
