Yes, a 2TB SSD may work in some Legion 5 Pro configurations, but Lenovo’s published specifications do not establish 2TB support for every model. Lenovo lists tested M.2 2280 SSD offerings up to 1TB for the Legion 5 Pro models covered here. Check your laptop’s exact generation and machine type before buying; the family name alone is not enough to confirm fit or compatibility.
What Lenovo’s specifications say
Lenovo’s PSREF specifications describe tested storage offerings, not a universal maximum that proves larger drives will or will not work. In the cited Legion 5 Pro examples, Lenovo lists M.2 2280 offerings up to 1TB. The 16ACH6 specification also says the system may support larger capacities as storage technology develops, but that is not a guarantee for a particular 2TB SSD or configuration.

These specifications cover specific model identifiers, not every laptop sold under the Legion 5 Pro name. A different generation or machine type may have different storage details. The Legion 5P 15IMH05H is a separate model and should not be used to infer Legion 5 Pro compatibility.

How to check your exact Legion 5 Pro
- Find the laptop’s exact model or machine type in its Lenovo product information, on the device label, or in Lenovo support for your device. Do not rely only on “Legion 5 Pro.”
- Open the Lenovo PSREF specification for that identifier and check its storage section for M.2 slot count, supported drive length, and PCIe interface.
- Check whether an M.2 slot is free. If both are occupied, installing a 2TB drive may require replacing an existing SSD rather than adding another one.
- Compare the exact 2TB SSD’s physical format and compatibility information with the specification for your machine type. A 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD is a relevant form to investigate, but the family name alone does not verify compatibility.
What to consider before buying
- Capacity: Lenovo’s cited configurations list tested offerings up to 1TB. That does not prove a 2TB drive is incompatible, but it also does not certify one.
- Physical fit: Confirm the required M.2 length for your specific laptop; the cited models specify M.2 2280 slots.
- Interface: The 16ACH6 and 16ACH6H references specify PCIe 3.0 x4, while the 16IAH7H reference specifies PCIe 4.0 x4. Match the drive to the machine’s documented interface and check the SSD manufacturer’s compatibility guidance.
- Available slot: Verify whether you can add a drive or must replace one already installed.
If internal fit or compatibility remains uncertain, an external USB SSD can add storage without relying on an unconfirmed internal installation. It is a different option, not proof that an internal 2TB drive will fit.
