The Lenovo Legion 5 15IAX11 is a 15.3-inch gaming-laptop family, not one fixed configuration. Its headline feature is a 2560 × 1600, 165 Hz OLED display; processor, graphics, memory, storage, and other details vary by market and full model code. Notebookcheck’s 2026 review found its tested RTX 5070 version capable, but also noted display reflections, weak speakers, and fan noise in Performance mode.
What the Legion 5 15IAX11 model name covers
Lenovo markets the 2026 family as the Legion 5i (15″, 11). The 15IAX11 designation covers multiple regional builds, so a review of one configuration does not describe every machine sold under the family name. Lenovo’s PSREF specifications list Core 7 245HX, Core Ultra 7 251HX, and Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor options, paired with RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 Laptop GPUs. Memory, SSD capacity, operating system, keyboard layout, color, and warranty can also differ by SKU.
For example, Lenovo’s US model 83VK0067US is listed with a Core 7 245HX, RTX 5060, 16 GB in a single memory module, and a 512 GB SSD. Other regional builds offer different processors, graphics, and storage. Before comparing prices or review results, match the complete model code on the listing to the configuration being discussed.

What the independent review found
Notebookcheck reviewed a Core Ultra 7 251HX and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU configuration in August 2026. Its test unit had 16 GB of single-channel DDR5-5600 memory. The publication characterized it as a solid midrange gaming laptop and praised the crisp OLED screen, G-SYNC, upgradeable memory and storage, slim design, and runtime when using integrated graphics. These are findings about that review unit, not guarantees for every 15IAX11 configuration.
Performance figures from the tested RTX 5070 build
- 3DMark Time Spy: 13,840 points.
- Cinebench R23 multi-core: 26,001 points.
- Cyberpunk 2077: 109.4 fps average in Notebookcheck’s ultra chart.
Notebookcheck says its gaming benchmarks used discrete graphics and Performance mode. Results can differ with the GPU, power limits, memory configuration, drivers, settings, and laptop mode; the figures should not be treated as expected results for an RTX 5060 version or an untested SKU. See Notebookcheck’s review for its full test context.
Display strengths and trade-offs
The OLED panel combines 2560 × 1600 resolution with a 165 Hz refresh rate, G-SYNC, and Lenovo-listed 100% DCI-P3 coverage. That mix is suited to high-refresh gaming as well as vivid, high-resolution content. Lenovo lists 500 nits typical brightness and a 1000-nit peak for HDR, alongside DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification.

- Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, 24C Processor
- 16" WQXGA (2560x1600) IPS 500nits Anti-glare, 240Hz
- 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM, 1TB SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7
- Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4
The finish is glossy, and Notebookcheck called out strong reflectivity as a drawback. If you play or work in a bright room, reflections may be more distracting than the panel’s resolution or refresh rate is beneficial. The screen is non-touch.
Can you upgrade the RAM and SSD?
Lenovo documents two SODIMM memory slots and two M.2 storage slots—one sized for M.2 2242 and the other for M.2 2280. The listed family maximum is 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory. This makes memory and storage expansion a documented option, but the included modules and available capacity depend on the specific build.
Before buying parts, confirm the installed configuration, module type, SSD dimensions, and the exact model’s service guidance. Lenovo’s family-level slot information does not establish that every configuration ships with an empty slot or that any particular upgrade is covered under a given warranty.

Noise, speakers, and everyday use
Notebookcheck reported noticeable fan noise in Performance mode and described the built-in speakers as relatively weak. Those observations apply to the reviewed unit and test conditions. If you expect to game at full performance in a quiet room, noise is worth weighing; if laptop speakers matter to you, listen to the specific machine where possible. A headset or external speakers are optional workarounds, not requirements.

The review also noted possible SSD throttling. That is a configuration-specific observation rather than evidence that every 15IAX11 will throttle. For battery expectations, Notebookcheck praised runtime in integrated-graphics mode, but the available findings do not establish one battery-life figure for all workloads or configurations.

- Match the complete SKU. Confirm the model code and compare its processor, GPU, memory, SSD, operating system, keyboard, and warranty with the configuration in any review.
- Compare like-for-like performance. Check the graphics option, memory setup, power mode, drivers, and benchmark settings before using results to predict performance.
- Assess the screen in your environment. The 165 Hz OLED specification is appealing, but the glossy finish may be a poor fit for a room with strong reflections.
- Check the upgrade you intend to make. Confirm the machine’s installed RAM and SSD and verify that any replacement or addition fits its slot and service requirements.
- Compare live local terms. Prices, warranty, and availability vary by region and SKU. Notebookcheck listed its reviewed configuration at $2,300 when reviewed; that is a dated US price observation from 2026, not a current quote or a price for every build.
Coverage from other publications also concerns particular configurations and dates. A review collection lists Jarrod’sTech coverage dated September 11, 2026, and Tom’s Guide coverage dated August 16, 2026; review scores and reported market prices vary. Treat each review as evidence about its own tested or listed machine rather than as a universal rating for the family.

Is the Lenovo Legion 5 15IAX11 good for gaming?
The reviewed Ultra 7/RTX 5070 configuration delivered strong results in Notebookcheck’s cited gaming chart and combines that GPU with a high-resolution, high-refresh OLED. The 15IAX11 family is therefore a plausible gaming choice, but the answer depends on which configuration is for sale and its price. An RTX 5060 listing is not equivalent to the RTX 5070 review unit, and the review’s performance numbers should not be transferred between them.
Its main documented compromises are the reflective display, weak internal speakers, and fan noise under Performance mode in Notebookcheck’s tested configuration. The most useful purchase comparison is between exact SKUs, including their GPU and CPU, price, included memory and storage, display, warranty, and independent test conditions—not just the Legion 5 name.
