Leather Garb is in an unlocked strongbox beside Cave Depths Camp in Pilgrim’s Zone. Reach the cave route on the zone’s eastern side, pass Cave Interior, ride the elevator upward, and search beside the camp. The armor is a fixed pickup rather than an enemy drop or a vendor purchase. Guides agree on Flame Resistance 80, four Spirit Stone slots, and High Enemy Awareness, but disagree on Defense: one lists 33 and another 34. Check the item screen in your current game build if the exact Defense value matters.
Beast of Reincarnation Leather Garb location
The Leather Garb chest is at Cave Depths Camp, a campsite in Pilgrim’s Zone. The box sits beside the campsite and is already unlocked, so there is no key, combat encounter, merchant inventory, or random-drop table involved in the pickup described by the item-specific guide.
The important navigation clue is the elevator. The approach begins on the eastern cave route, continues through Cave Interior, and then turns upward. If you remain in the lower cave paths after reaching Cave Interior, you are searching the wrong level. The strongbox is next to the camp after the elevator ride, not deep in a side tunnel or behind an enemy arena.

- Enter Pilgrim’s Zone. Move to the cave route on the eastern side of the zone. Use the cave entrance and route markers you have already unlocked rather than looking for an overworld chest elsewhere in the zone.
- Follow the cave route to Cave Interior. Continue through the interior section. The item guide’s route does not require a hidden branch, a puzzle solution, or a special enemy drop before the elevator.
- Take the elevator upward. Once you reach the elevator in Cave Interior, use it to go up. Do not keep exploring the lower cave paths in the hope that the armor is there; the destination is the upper camp area.
- Find Cave Depths Camp. After the elevator ride, continue until the route opens at the campsite. The location is identified as Cave Depths Camp in the item-specific guide and independently in an armor overview.
- Inspect the strongbox beside the campsite. Open the unlocked box next to the camp and collect Leather Garb. Because this is a fixed chest pickup, the armor should not need to be farmed from enemies or bought from a vendor.
- Confirm the item in your inventory. Open the armor or equipment screen and read the displayed Defense, Flame Resistance, Spirit Stone slots, and Enemy Awareness. This final check matters because two 2026 guides report different Defense values.
When the chest becomes relevant
An armor overview places the pickup in Chapter 4 during the “Origin of Ringing” objective. That chapter and objective timing comes from a secondary guide, not first-party game documentation, so treat it as a useful progression signpost rather than an official unlock statement. The physical location remains beside Cave Depths Camp in Pilgrim’s Zone.

If you are following the objective and have reached the eastern cave route, the elevator is the decision point to remember: Cave Interior is the approach, the elevator is the transition, and Cave Depths Camp is where the box is located. If the chest is not present, first verify that you are at the upper camp and not at a lower cave rest point with a similar name.
Leather Garb stats
The two guide reports agree on three values. They both list Flame Resistance 80, four Spirit Stone slots, and High Enemy Awareness. Their Defense entries conflict, however, so it would be misleading to present a single value as definitively official.

Why the Defense value is listed as 33 or 34
NerdsChalk’s item table lists Defense as 33. AllThingsHow’s armor overview lists Defense as 34 while confirming the same chest location and the other headline stats. Neither source is first-party documentation, and no official item database was identified for an authoritative tie-breaker.
For ordinary equipment decisions, a one-point difference is less consequential than the armor’s resistance and awareness profile. For a build spreadsheet, challenge run, or exact comparison, use the value shown by your own item screen. Record the game version or platform with the number so that another player can reproduce the check. Do not combine the two reports into an invented “33–34” stat; the discrepancy should remain visible.
What Leather Garb is good at—and where it costs you
Strong fire protection
Flame Resistance 80 makes Leather Garb a logical candidate when incoming fire damage is the concern. The value is high enough to be the defining reason to consider the piece, rather than a minor bonus attached to a general-purpose armor set. Equip it when resistance coverage is more valuable to your current encounter than maximizing stealth or another defense category.

Four customization slots
Four Spirit Stone slots give you room to tune the armor instead of treating its printed stats as a complete build. The available guides do not establish which stones are best, so choose stones according to the threats and attributes your loadout needs. The useful decision is the available capacity: four slots can make the piece more adaptable than an armor with fewer slots, provided the accompanying awareness penalty is acceptable.
High Enemy Awareness
High Enemy Awareness is the trade-off. If your plan depends on avoiding detection, approaching unnoticed, or preserving a stealth-oriented setup, this armor may be a poor fit even when its fire protection is attractive. If stealth is not the priority, the awareness rating may be an acceptable cost for resistance coverage. The right answer depends on the encounter and your route through it, not on a universal “best armor” ranking.

- Defense: compare the value displayed in your current build. For Leather Garb, note whether your screen shows 33 or 34.
- Resistance type and value: identify which damage category the armor covers and how much protection it supplies. Leather Garb’s documented specialty is Flame Resistance 80.
- Spirit Stone slots: count the available slots before deciding whether the armor can support your intended customization.
- Enemy Awareness: account for the practical effect of a High rating if your route or combat plan rewards remaining undetected.
The broader armor overview names Insulating Mail, Floral Wraps, and Scale Coat as other pieces worth considering. It does not provide a complete, directly comparable set of values for those alternatives in the available material, so their exact Defense, resistance, slot count, and awareness entries should be read from your in-game equipment screen rather than inferred here. Leather Garb should therefore be treated as a fire-resistant option with four slots and a stealth cost—not as an automatically superior replacement for every other armor.

Choose it for fire-focused protection
When the immediate problem is fire damage, start with the documented Flame Resistance 80, then check whether the armor’s Defense and awareness fit the rest of your build. The resistance is the strongest evidence-based reason to make the swap. Keep the item available even if you do not wear it constantly; a specialized resistance piece can be more useful for a particular encounter than a general-purpose set.

Four Spirit Stone slots support a more configurable build. Before equipping the armor, decide what each slot is meant to accomplish and check that the resulting setup still handles the encounter’s damage and detection demands. The slots are an opportunity for customization, not a guarantee that every combination will outperform another armor’s native profile.

Do not choose it solely for stealth
High Enemy Awareness directly conflicts with a stealth-first plan. If avoiding detection is the central objective, compare another armor’s awareness rating before giving up the advantage. A lower printed Defense value may still be worthwhile if it lets you complete an approach without triggering enemies; the game’s encounter context determines which trade-off is favorable.
Troubleshooting the pickup
You cannot find the strongbox
- Confirm that you entered the cave route on the eastern side of Pilgrim’s Zone.
- Check that you passed Cave Interior and used the elevator going upward.
- Make sure you reached Cave Depths Camp, not a lower cave rest area or a similarly named location.
- Search beside the campsite itself. The documented box is next to the camp, not in a distant branch.
The box appears empty
Recheck your inventory and armor list before assuming the item failed to spawn. The documented acquisition is an unlocked strongbox, so there is no enemy-drop table or vendor transaction to repeat. If Leather Garb is still absent after confirming the route and camp, note your platform, game version, chapter state, and whether the chest was previously opened; those details are needed to distinguish a navigation mistake from a build-specific issue.
Your Defense does not match a guide
That is an expected possibility. One 2026 guide reports 33 and another reports 34. Use the value shown in your current item screen for your own build, and preserve the discrepancy when sharing a guide or build sheet instead of silently “correcting” one source to the other.

A reliable in-game verification routine
- Open the equipment menu after collecting the armor.
- Record Defense exactly as displayed, including any formatting or level context the game shows.
- Confirm Flame Resistance reads 80 and count the four Spirit Stone slots.
- Check that Enemy Awareness is labeled High.
- Write down the game version, platform, and date of the check if you are documenting a build for other players.
This routine separates the stable, cross-guide values from the unresolved Defense conflict and gives you a reproducible reference for later patches. It is especially useful if you are comparing Leather Garb with Insulating Mail, Floral Wraps, Scale Coat, or another piece whose values are not established in the available guides.
What is established—and what is not
The location, route, and common stats are supported by two secondary guides. The item-specific guide is the more focused source for the pickup and reports Defense 33.
