Laura Bailey was referring to Imogen Temult and Laudna, the Campaign 3 pair known to fans as Imodna. When the cast was asked for favorite Campaign 3 moments at a San Diego Comic-Con Fireside Chat, Bailey answered, “The Kiss.” Their relationship grew from intimate friendship into a central emotional commitment for Bells Hells, culminating in an official recap that gives them a future in which they can “age and die together.”
Who are Imogen and Laudna?
Imogen Temult is Laura Bailey’s Campaign 3 character, while Laudna is played by Marisha Ray. Their pairing is commonly called Imodna. The romance became one of Bells Hells’ defining relationships because it connected personal trauma, mutual protection and the party’s larger conflicts rather than existing as a separate subplot.

The title’s claim that the romance “changed Campaign 3 forever” is an interpretation, not a claim that every major event was caused by the relationship. Its influence is clearest in how the campaign’s emotional center shifted: decisions about danger, loyalty and the future increasingly carried consequences for both women together.
Why “The Kiss” is Laura Bailey’s favorite moment
In the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 Fireside Chat transcript, cast members were asked to name a favorite Campaign 3 moment. Bailey’s answer was direct: “The Kiss.” That is the clearest primary evidence for the title’s wording.

- First major D&D adventure book within Critical Role’s world of Exandria, taking players from levels 3–12
- Multi-continental story that spans the scarred Wastes of Xhorhas, introduces the continent of Marquet, and eventually plunges players into the Netherdeep—a terrifying cross between the Far Realm and the deep ocean
- Bursting with lore and all new art depicting Exandria
- Includes a poster map of Ank’Harel
- Adds magic items, creatures, and introduces rival NPCs

How a close bond became a romance
Friendship made the romance consequential
Imogen and Laudna’s relationship developed through sustained concern and protection. That slow movement matters narratively: the romance was not introduced as an isolated twist, but as an intensification of a bond that already shaped how each character faced fear and vulnerability.
Rank #2
The kiss changed the meaning of their choices
Once the relationship became explicit, risks that might previously have been framed as individual character decisions also became tests of trust and shared responsibility. The kiss therefore functioned as a structural turning point. It made intimacy part of the campaign’s ongoing stakes, not merely a fan-service beat.
Commitment moved beyond a single scene
The relationship continued after the kiss instead of ending at a confession or one romantic milestone. Later commitment, including the marriage reveal reported by Popverse on July 20, 2026, confirmed that the pairing had become part of the characters’ lasting futures.
| Stage | What is established | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Early Campaign 3 | Imogen and Laudna form an unusually intimate, protective friendship. | The emotional foundation predates the romance. |
| “The Kiss” | Bailey named the moment her favorite Campaign 3 scene. | The relationship becomes openly romantic and changes the stakes of future choices. |
| Later campaign | The pair’s commitment continues, with marriage reported by Popverse. | Imodna becomes a durable part of Bells Hells’ story rather than a temporary subplot. |
| C3E121 recap | Lieve’tel casts Divine Inspiration “to ensure that they age and die together.” | The official ending gives the couple a shared mortal future. |
How Imodna changed Campaign 3’s emotional center
Private trauma became a shared stake
Their bond turned inward struggles into something the whole party had to account for. Protecting one another was not only romantic devotion; it affected how danger, sacrifice and loyalty were interpreted across Bells Hells.
The romance made the future concrete
Many adventuring-party romances remain ambiguous because the campaign ends before the characters can choose an ordinary life. Imogen and Laudna’s story moved in the opposite direction. The C3E121 recap records a blessing intended to let them age and die together, making domestic permanence part of the official outcome rather than leaving the relationship at implication.
Rank #4
It changed what “survival” meant
For Imogen and Laudna, survival was not simply getting through the next battle. It also meant preserving a relationship and choosing a future together. That distinction gave later danger a personal dimension that extended beyond victory or defeat.

Are Imogen and Laudna canon?
Yes. The official Campaign 3 recap describes Lieve’tel taking their hands and casting Divine Inspiration “to ensure that they age and die together.” That is explicit canon for a committed shared future. Popverse’s July 20, 2026 report also describes Bailey learning during a live performance that Imogen and Laudna had married, reinforcing the pairing’s status beyond fan interpretation.

The relationship is romantic, but not uncomplicated
Imodna should not be reduced to uncomplicated wish fulfillment. A Popverse feature published January 27, 2026, reported cast discussion that both characters were intensely concerned for each other while showing little self-care themselves. That pattern raises a codependency question: devotion can provide safety and meaning while also encouraging two traumatized people to neglect their own needs.
Reading the relationship this way does not cancel its romance. It explains why the pairing generated dramatic tension. Their strongest quality—an exceptional willingness to protect one another—could also become a vulnerability when care for the other displaced care for the self.

Why the romance mattered beyond shipping
Imodna changed Campaign 3 because it joined character development to campaign-scale stakes. The relationship emerged from friendship, was made explicit by the kiss Bailey singled out, continued through commitment and marriage, and ended with an official blessing for a shared life. Its importance is therefore both emotional and structural: it gave Bells Hells a reason to imagine a future worth protecting, while leaving room to examine the costs of making one person the center of another’s care.
