KuruBeats is an Android music player that brings local audio files and YouTube Music playback together in one app. Its author also advertises synced lyrics, music recognition, listening statistics, and background playback. The key caveat: anonymous YouTube Music playback is marked beta, and the project warns that network checks or regional restrictions can prevent it from working.
What KuruBeats does
KuruBeats is a music-player app, not a music catalog or a hardware product. It is designed to play music stored on an Android device and access YouTube Music from the same interface. The author’s September 28, 2026 announcement describes local playback, anonymous YouTube Music streaming, synced lyrics, song recognition, listening statistics, and background playback.
The project README inspected on October 7, 2026 describes a broader set of features. These are project-stated capabilities, not independently tested results, and the README may change over time.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Playback and audio controls: Local songs, background listening, EBU R128 loudness normalization, tempo, pitch and speed controls, crossfade, and integration with the system equalizer and spatial audio.
- Lyrics and discovery: Live synced lyrics with translation and romanization, plus music recognition.
- Library and history integrations: Spotify playlist import, YouTube Music account integration, Last.fm scrobbling, ListenBrainz history sync, and Discord rich presence.
- Interface: Material 3 styling and customization options.
Does YouTube Music work without signing in?
The author describes anonymous YouTube Music playback as a beta feature. That is distinct from the README’s optional signed-in features, including YouTube Music account integration and support for multiple accounts. In other words, the project describes both an anonymous playback route and account-based integrations; they should not be treated as the same mode.

Anonymous playback is not guaranteed to work on every network. The author warns that YouTube bot checks can block playback and may result in error 2000. The README also says that people in regions where YouTube Music is unsupported may need a VPN or proxy set to a supported region for initial data fetching. Neither source establishes a playback success rate or a guarantee that a particular VPN, proxy, network, or location will work.
Where to get KuruBeats and how it is licensed
KuruBeats is published under GPL-3.0. The project’s README says the license permits copying, modifying, and redistributing the software subject to its terms, including retaining copyright and license notices, marking modified versions, and providing corresponding source code when required.
