Neither exchange is the automatic winner: start by confirming that the specific product is available where you live, then compare the live fee for the same market, order type, and account tier. KuCoin publishes a 0.1% maker-and-taker spot-fee reference for some pairs, but says other pairs have different rates. Crypto.com directs users to its live Fees & Limits page for current derivative rates; its reviewed fee article does not establish a current numeric head-to-head comparison.

Check regional access before comparing features

Availability depends on jurisdiction and can differ between spot trading and derivatives. A platform’s general availability does not establish that every product is available to you. Confirm the applicable local entity and current product eligibility before depositing funds or planning a strategy.

Crypto.com publishes separate spot trading and derivatives trading restriction pages, both dated May 7, 2025. The spot page says its list can change as regulation changes, so treat these pages as a check to make at the time you plan to trade, not as permanent guarantees. KuCoin’s futures terms also make access subject to account and local compliance requirements.

How to compare fees on equal terms

A headline fee is not enough to identify the cheaper venue. Compare the same pair or contract, maker with maker or taker with taker, and the fee level that applies to your account. Include a token-based discount only if you qualify and intend to use it; verify the rate shown for your account before placing an order.

Spot fees

KuCoin’s spot-fee guidance, last updated August 3, 2026, uses 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker as a reference for some pairs. It explicitly warns that the example does not apply to every pair and directs users to check the trading page for the exact rate. Your fee can also depend on your fee level and whether you enable KCS fee payment. KuCoin describes a market order as taker in its examples and a limit order with Post Only enabled as maker. Depending on the pair and fee-token handling, a fee deducted from the traded asset can also make the credited quantity differ from the gross amount. KuCoin’s spot fee explanation

Crypto.com’s Exchange feature page advertises 300+ spot pairs, a vendor-stated count accessed October 7, 2026; it is not an independent measure of liquidity or of the markets usable by a particular customer. The reviewed Crypto.com fee guidance does not provide a current numeric spot-rate schedule for a direct comparison. Check the rate displayed for your account and chosen market rather than inferring one from a general product description. Crypto.com Exchange features

Derivatives fees and carrying costs

KuCoin describes futures transaction fees as position value multiplied by the fee rate. Rates depend on the contract, maker/taker classification, and account fee level. It offers USDT-margined and coin-margined contracts, including perpetual and delivery contracts. Perpetuals may involve funding payments or credits every eight hours; delivery contracts do not have funding, but can have opening, closing, and delivery charges. See KuCoin’s futures fee explanation.

Crypto.com’s fee article discusses perpetual, futures, and warrant contracts, but points users to its live Fees & Limits page for current derivative rates. The article is dated February 16, 2023, so it is useful for understanding that fee tiers and rates can change, not for quoting today’s numeric schedule. It also says CRO locked on the Exchange may provide fee benefits. Check current eligibility and terms before counting such a benefit in a comparison. Crypto.com’s applicable-fees guidance

With leveraged products, fees are only one part of the cost and risk. Funding, contract settlement, and liquidation exposure can affect the result independently of the trading fee. Review the contract mechanics and your account’s eligibility before considering a derivatives trade; the existence of a product is not a recommendation to use leverage.

Compare the products you actually intend to use

For spot trading, make a short list of the exact assets and pairs you need, then confirm they are available in your region and inspect the live fee for each. Crypto.com’s advertised count of 300+ spot pairs does not by itself show that a particular pair is available to you, has suitable liquidity, or is less costly. KuCoin’s pair-specific rate warning likewise means its 0.1% reference cannot stand in for every market.

If you need derivatives, compare the exact contract type rather than treating all futures products as interchangeable. A perpetual’s recurring funding mechanism differs from a delivery contract’s settlement charges. Account eligibility, local restrictions, and the contract’s fee schedule may also differ between venues.

Keep the apps and automation distinctions clear

Crypto.com describes its Exchange App as distinct from the Crypto.com Main App. Confirm which product supports the trading workflow you want; app features should not be assumed to carry across both.

KuCoin’s bot-fee article, last updated September 8, 2025, describes spot bot strategies as following spot fee rules, with a 20% discount against the LV0 fee for selected coins. It also states a 0.06% fixed rate for futures bot strategies. These are dated, strategy-specific statements rather than a guarantee of the fee for every bot, asset, or account today. Check the live bot terms before relying on them. KuCoin’s trading bot fee rules

A practical decision checklist

  1. Confirm eligibility: Check your country, the platform entity serving you, and whether the exact product—spot or derivatives—is currently permitted.
  2. Choose the markets: Identify the pair or contract you intend to trade on each platform; do not substitute total pair counts for confirmation of that market.
  3. Match the order type: Compare maker fees with maker fees and taker fees with taker fees, accounting for how your intended order is classified.
  4. Check account-specific terms: Verify your fee tier and any KCS or CRO benefit you can actually use on the relevant account and product.
  5. For derivatives, include contract mechanics: Compare trading fees alongside funding or settlement charges, and confirm access requirements and liquidation rules.
  6. Recheck immediately before trading: Fee schedules, product menus, promotional benefits, and geographic permissions can change.
