For UAE residents who need AED bank deposits and withdrawals today, OKX and Binance have published descriptions of local AED services; Kraken’s May 2026 announcement described proposed UAE services that depended on final licensure. The best fit depends on the services enabled for your account, your deposit and withdrawal route, and whether you trade on an order book or use a quoted buy/sell route—not just one advertised fee.
What the comparison shows
These exchanges are not at the same point in the available evidence. OKX’s UAE service page, updated August 11, 2026, describes AED trading pairs and direct AED deposits and withdrawals from a UAE bank account through OKX Middle East Fintech FZE, which it describes as VARA licensed and regulated. Binance’s June 2, 2026 announcement and UAE FAQ describe AED bank transfers and AED spot pairs for eligible residents onboarded to Binance FZE. Kraken’s May 21, 2026 announcement reported preliminary VARA approval for Payward’s proposed Dubai operations and said its full service offer was contingent on final licensure.
That means Kraken’s announcement is not evidence that final approval was granted or that its UAE AED rails launched. A separate 2022 ADGM announcement described Kraken AED services at that time, but that historical account does not establish current Dubai service or authorization. Keep the dates, local entities, and jurisdictions distinct.

Company service pages describe what the companies say they offer; they are not substitutes for current regulator-register records or a determination of the authorization scope for a particular product. Do not assume that every product, account, or customer is covered by the same local entity or permission. Verify the contracting entity and available services for your own account before transferring money.

How to compare the fees fairly
A useful comparison separates funding, trading, conversion, and withdrawal. “Free deposit” does not mean a trade is free, and a low maker or taker rate does not tell you the total cost of an instant quote, an AED cash-out, or a crypto transfer.

What maker and taker mean
On an order book, a maker order rests on the book and adds liquidity; a taker order matches an available order and removes liquidity. An order that executes immediately is generally taker activity, while a limit order that waits may be maker activity—but a limit order can also execute immediately. The rate that applies depends on the actual execution and your account’s tier, not merely the button or order label you intended to use.
For scale, applying OKX’s surfaced standard rates to an illustrative AED 1,000 spot trade gives AED 2 at 0.2000% maker or AED 3.50 at 0.3500% taker. This is arithmetic on the published standard rates, not a quote for a particular UAE user or pair. It excludes any spread, conversion, funding charge, withdrawal cost, and rate-tier variation.

Build a like-for-like total
- Record the AED deposit route. Check whether the account offers a local bank transfer or another method, whether the bank and exchange account names must match, and whether your bank or payment provider imposes a charge.
- Choose the same trade route for each exchange. Compare an order-book order with an order-book order, including your maker/taker status and tier. If you prefer Buy/Sell or Convert, compare the final quote and the amount of crypto received instead of comparing only a displayed percentage.
- Check the quote currency. If the asset is not traded against AED, a conversion or FX cost may apply. Verify the actual route and quote rather than assuming a direct AED market exists.
- Add the cash withdrawal cost. Review the AED withdrawal fee, method, limits, and processing details shown to your account. Binance’s announced AED 10 charge is a cash withdrawal figure, not a trade charge.
- If moving crypto off-platform, price that separately. Check the asset’s withdrawal fee and supported network, then verify that the destination wallet or service supports the same network.
This comparison is more useful than ranking exchanges by a single advertised percentage. A low order-book rate may not be the cheapest route for a small instant purchase; a cheap trade may not suit someone whose priority is low-cost AED cash-out. Your frequency, trade size, order type, account tier, and intended destination all affect the result.
Choosing based on how you plan to use the exchange
If you need to move AED from a UAE bank
Start by confirming that you can complete local onboarding and that the exact bank transfer route appears in your account. OKX and Binance describe local AED bank rails for eligible UAE users. Binance’s FAQ specifies bank transfers and requires the bank account to be in the user’s own name. Do not infer that another person’s account, a different payment method, or every UAE bank will work. The live account screen is the practical check for route availability, limits, and instructions.
For Kraken, treat the May 2026 description as a proposed service contingent on final licensure, not a promise of present access. The announcement included planned AED funding and withdrawals, but the cited information does not establish whether the launch condition was later met. Verify a current official notice and account availability before planning a deposit.

If you want to trade AED pairs
Check the exact pair, not just the exchange’s general statement that AED pairs exist. Pair availability can differ by account, product, or jurisdiction, and a market’s liquidity and spread affect the price you actually receive. Confirm that the pair is available to you, compare its quoted price and order-book depth with your intended order size, and note whether the route is an order book or a conversion quote.

If you need more than spot trading
The proposed Kraken service announcement listed margin, OTC, staking, and institutional services alongside spot. OKX’s UAE page mentions derivatives and margin subject to a suitability assessment. These descriptions do not mean those products are enabled for every account. Check eligibility, assessment requirements, and product-specific terms before choosing an exchange on the assumption that you can use leverage, staking, or institutional services.

Binance’s cited UAE materials establish AED bank transfers and spot-pair access for eligible users; they do not establish that every other product is available to every UAE account. Avoid treating a feature available in another country or entity as available under your local account.

Exact screens, limits, and available payment routes can change, so use the current instructions shown after signing in rather than relying on an old walkthrough. A safe comparison follows the same sequence on each exchange:
- Confirm the local account. Complete the exchange’s onboarding and check which contracting entity provides your service. Make sure the account is eligible for the UAE products you intend to use.
- Open the deposit page and select AED. Review the available bank method, beneficiary details, minimums or limits, processing information, and any stated charges. For Binance, the cited FAQ says the deposit method is bank transfer and that the bank account must be in your own name.
- Compare the trade before submitting. For an order book, inspect the current pair, order type, maker/taker rate, and estimated execution. For an express buy or conversion, compare the final quoted amount and spread with the alternative route.
- Review the withdrawal page before trading if cash-out matters. Check that AED withdrawal is available to your account, identify the destination-bank requirements and displayed fee, and note any limits. Do not assume a deposit route guarantees an identical withdrawal route.
- For crypto withdrawals, select the destination-compatible network. Confirm the destination accepts the same asset on the selected network. Review the exchange’s displayed fee and address carefully before sending; a network mismatch can prevent the recipient from crediting the transfer.
Use a small test transfer when the destination, network, or address is unfamiliar and the exchange permits it. A test can add a separate withdrawal charge, so include that in the cost calculation rather than assuming transfers are free.

Common comparison mistakes
- Treating preliminary approval as a launched service. Kraken’s cited announcement states preliminary VARA approval and conditions its planned full offer on final licensure. Do not present it as proof of current UAE AED deposits.
- Mixing cash and crypto withdrawal charges. An AED bank withdrawal is not the same as sending cryptocurrency to a wallet. Binance’s AED 10 figure applies to the announced cash withdrawal charge, while crypto network fees depend on the asset and network.
- Comparing an order-book percentage with a quoted conversion. The conversion quote can include the spread in its all-in price. Compare the net asset amount and price, not fee labels alone.
- Assuming the platform-wide fee is your fee. Trading rates can depend on maker/taker execution, volume, assets, region, and account tier. Check your own fee schedule and market.
- Assuming all UAE customers see the same feature set. Eligibility, suitability assessment, entity, payment method, and product access can vary. Verify each item in your account.
- Sending crypto on the wrong network. The exchange’s available network must match what the receiving wallet supports for that asset. Verify this before confirming a withdrawal.
Which one should you choose?
For an eligible UAE resident prioritizing documented AED bank access, OKX and Binance have the clearest local-service descriptions in the cited material. OKX’s page describes AED pairs and direct local-bank deposits and withdrawals; Binance describes local bank transfers, AED spot pairs, and a June 2026 AED cash-funding offer of no deposit fee and AED 10 per withdrawal for eligible users. Those stated charges do not settle which is cheaper overall: trading, spreads, bank charges, tiers, and route availability still matter.
Kraken may warrant a fresh check if its announced UAE launch is important to you, especially if you value the proposed breadth of services or global order-book access. But based on its May 21, 2026 announcement alone, its local service and AED rails were contingent on final licensure. Do not treat its historical ADGM AED announcement as proof of present Dubai availability.
Before funding any account, compare the exact local entity and product scope, confirm AED deposit and withdrawal availability, record the current fees and limits, and test the intended trading route against the quote you would actually receive. Fee pages and service availability are volatile; the account-specific terms at the time of use are more useful than a static headline.
