In KOF AFK, build progress by collecting available AFK rewards, advancing the challenges and other systems currently unlocked for your account, and making summon decisions around your team’s needs—not an assumed “best” banner. The King of Fighters AFK is a mobile RPG built around AFK rewards and strategic 5-vs-5 battles. You collect rewards while away, strengthen Fighters, and assemble and position a team. Netmarble’s official game listing describes team composition and placement as factors in battle outcomes, so formation is part of progression—not just a matter of having the highest-rarity Fighters. For a beginner, it helps to separate progression into three connected jobs: keep the account moving through available stages and challenges, build the team you can use now, and understand which summon resources may support future growth. You do not need to solve every system before playing; unlocks and live screens determine what is available to your account.
Formation is a decision, not decoration
Because placement can affect a battle’s outcome, review the formation whenever you add a Fighter, encounter a different enemy group, or see a stage-specific modifier. A team that performs well in one fight may not be the right arrangement for the next one. Keep the resource names separate
Several mistakes come from treating every summon-related item as the same currency. Premium Points are earned through Fighter and Photo Card summons. Premium Summon is the later system that unlocks at Fighter Summon Level 5. Fighter Origin comes from the Fighter, Pick-Up Fighter, and Synergy Fighter summon categories described in the guide. Solar, Lunar, and Stellar DNA are described as Premium Summon rewards and are used in the Link relationship. What Premium Summon can provide
The September 2025 guide lists possible Premium Summon rewards including Supporter/Pet summon boxes, a Legendary Fighter Summon Ticket, Solar, Lunar, and Stellar DNA, and growth materials such as Fuel, Cushions, Tarot Cards, Souls, and Fighter-related tokens. These are categories in the guide’s published system description, not a promise that every item is in a current banner or that a particular reward is guaranteed. Check the live reward list and probability details in your client.
The important planning connection is that attribute DNA from Premium Summon is relevant to Link. That does not make every Premium Summon attempt a good choice for every beginner: a reward may support a future Link plan rather than improve the team you need for current battles. Decide which goal matters before spending, and use the currently displayed pool rather than an old event or featured-Fighter recommendation.
How to think about pickup targets
Premium Summon lets you select a pickup target, and the official guide says that selection can be changed. That gives you flexibility; it does not establish which target is strongest, how long a target should be kept, or a universally correct point at which to summon. Consider the target alongside your current team, the listed cost and probability, the rest of the reward pool, and whether the resulting resources support an immediate team need or a longer-term Link plan.

If the screen does not state a guarantee or exchange rule, do not assume one exists. Likewise, do not infer that changing a pickup target refunds prior attempts; the guide confirms that the target can be changed, but does not describe a retroactive benefit.
Do not treat Premium Points as interchangeable with Premium Summon rewards, or assume the same summon rules apply to every banner. The official guide establishes the relationship between ordinary summon activity, Premium Points, and Premium Summon, but it does not supply a complete current currency glossary or a banner-by-banner spending plan.
When should a beginner summon?
There is no published universal saving threshold in the material described here. A defensible decision starts with the live screen rather than a calendar rule. First, identify whether the summon advances the team you are using now. Second, compare its listed cost, probability, and reward pool with the materials needed for your next Link or other visible upgrade. Third, check whether the offer is temporary. A target can be changed, but changing it should follow a plan rather than a reaction to every new banner.

Plan Link around both materials and rising costs
Link creates a duplicate Fighter using Fighter Origin and DNA that matches the relevant attribute. The official guide identifies Fighter Origin as obtainable through Fighter, Pick-Up Fighter, and Synergy Fighter summons; it describes Solar, Lunar, and Stellar DNA as Premium Summon rewards. Because each completed Link raises the material cost of the next attempt, the cost of continuing is not fixed across attempts.

- Identify the Fighter and attribute involved. Confirm the requirement shown in the Link interface rather than assuming all DNA or Fighter Origins are interchangeable.
- Check the materials you actually have. Verify both Fighter Origin and the matching attribute DNA before committing to the attempt.
- Review the next attempt’s cost. A completed Link increases the cost for a later one, so evaluate the displayed requirement each time.
- Compare the result with your other priorities. If the materials would serve a more immediate team or progression need, waiting may be preferable; the official guide does not prescribe a universal Link order.
- Recheck after completion. Once a Link is finished, open the interface again and record the newly increased requirement before farming or summoning for the next one.
This approach avoids treating a DNA drop as a command to Link immediately. Link is one use for resources in a broader progression system, and the value of creating a duplicate depends on your roster and the other requirements currently displayed in-game.
Link pitfalls to avoid
- Using unmatched DNA. Solar, Lunar, and Stellar are separate attributes in the guide’s description; confirm the match shown by the game.
- Ignoring Fighter Origin. Having DNA alone does not establish that a Link is affordable. Check both material types.

The following is a practical routine based on those systems, not a complete official checklist: reset timing, exact daily tasks, and reward amounts are not established here.
- Collect available AFK rewards. Claim what is ready when you log in, then use the resulting resources on progression systems available at your current unlock level.
- Check notices and event screens. Look at the current in-game notices and event pages for live limited activities or summon changes. Do not assume a featured Fighter or offer from an older notice is still active.

If your session is short, prioritize collecting AFK rewards and checking notices, then spend the remaining time on the highest-value challenge currently visible to your account.

Netmarble’s official challenge tips identify Infinity Challenge, Arcade Challenge, and World Boss Challenge. They are distinct activities, but the available official description does not establish a complete current ranking, unlock schedule, or recommended daily order. Use each live screen to decide what is open to your account and worth attempting.

For Infinity Challenge, the upcoming-enemy preview lets you make a more informed formation choice than simply repeating the previous fight. The unique buff on each stage is another reason to read the screen before committing a team. A reward that looks attractive may still be inefficient if the stage requires strength your account does not yet have; conversely, a modest-looking reward can be worthwhile when it is immediately usable. For Arcade and World Boss, do not fill in missing mechanics from memory of another mode—open the current rules and requirements.

For any activity, compare four things the client can show you: whether it is unlocked, its displayed reward, the team strength or requirements it calls for, and whether it is repeatable or time-limited. The official challenge guide confirms stage-specific information for Infinity Challenge, but does not provide enough detail to turn all three modes into a universal priority list.
Spending safely and checking current odds
Netmarble’s official game listing says that paid items are available and that probability-based items are included.
