The Kmart Anko SKU 43151585 combines microwave, grill, convection-oven and preset air-fry functions, but its air-fry mode is not documented as a freely adjustable temperature-and-time setting. CHOICE lists the model as discontinued and keeps its detailed test results behind member access, so the available evidence supports a feature-and-ownership assessment—not a performance verdict.
What model is this, and what does it do?
This review concerns Kmart Anko SKU 43151585, identified in the Kmart Australia user manual as model D90N30ESLRIII-ZWA. The manual describes four functions: microwave, grill, convection oven and air fryer. It also documents microwave-plus-convection cooking, timed and weight-based defrosting, and automatic cooking menus.
The microwave output is 900 W. The manual specifies 28 L nominal oven capacity and dimensions of 300 × 539 × 438 mm. CHOICE lists a 23 L usable volume, a 30 cm turntable, external dimensions of 30 × 54 × 44 cm, and usable cavity dimensions of 18 × 36 × 36 cm. The capacity figures are not interchangeable: the manual’s nominal capacity and CHOICE’s usable-volume figure describe different measures of the oven space.
How does the air-fry mode work?
The air-fry function is preset-driven. The manual lists six food codes—chips, chops, prawns, drumsticks, steaks and fish—and selected food weights. To use it, choose the food code and the applicable weight. The manual does not describe a mode in which you independently set an air-fry temperature and cooking time.

This distinction matters if you expect the control flexibility of a standalone air fryer. The appliance does offer manual temperature selection in convection mode, but that is a different cooking mode and should not be treated as evidence of adjustable air frying.

The manual provides ten selectable convection temperatures spanning 110 °C to 200 °C.

Microwave plus convection
For combined microwave-and-convection cooking, the manual lists four preset temperature combinations: 110 °C, 140 °C, 170 °C and 200 °C. These are combination-mode choices, not additional air-fry settings.

Follow the manual’s mode-specific cookware guidance; an item allowed for grilling or air frying is not automatically safe for microwave cooking. In particular, the manual permits metal trays and racks for air fry or grill, but excludes metal from microwave and combination cooking. It also says the metal baking plate must not be used during any microwave cooking stage.

- Microwave or combination cooking: Do not use the metal baking plate. The manual’s cookware chart also excludes metal trays and racks from microwave and combination modes.
- Air fry or grill: The cookware chart permits metal trays and racks in these modes.
- Baking plate: Never use it without the glass tray. The manual states: “The baking plate must not be used without the glass tray. Do not remove the glass tray when using the baking plate for cooking.”
Does it need a built-in installation?
No. The manual specifies freestanding use and says not to install the appliance in a cabinet. Plan for a countertop location rather than a fitted microwave space, and follow the manual’s placement and ventilation instructions.
What does independent testing say?
CHOICE’s listing for the exact SKU labels the model discontinued. The public page provides specifications, but its Expert Rating, recommendation, and detailed cooking, ease-of-use, defrosting, reheating, grill and baking results are available only to members. The listing displays a $149 price, which is not evidence of a current offer.

The manual is the stronger source for instructions: it documents six food-and-weight air-fry presets and does not describe freely selected air-fry temperature and time.

Individual contributors on ProductReview’s owner-review page describe mixed experiences, including confusing controls, disappointing air-fry or grill results, fan behavior, early faults and satisfaction. These are self-selected reports rather than verified defect counts, controlled comparisons or a representative reliability study. They cannot establish how often a fault occurs or how the appliance performs for owners generally.
Cleaning, repairs and warranty
The manual instructs owners to unplug the appliance before cleaning, remove food deposits regularly, avoid steam cleaners and keep water out of ventilation openings. It cautions that repairs involving microwave-energy protection covers must be handled by trained or qualified service personnel; its wording is: “The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel.”

Who should consider this microwave?
It may suit someone who wants several cooking modes in one freestanding appliance and is comfortable using preset air-fry programs. It is a weaker fit for a buyer whose main requirement is fully adjustable air frying: the documented air-fry operation uses food codes and weights, while temperature control is described for convection and microwave-plus-convection instead.
Before comparing it with another combination microwave, check usable cavity measurements and turntable diameter alongside nominal capacity; also compare microwave output, manual-versus-preset air-fry control, convection range, tray restrictions, installation clearances, warranty and current price. For this discontinued model, the public information does not establish a comparative cooking-performance advantage.
