The Kmart Anko Cordless Stick Cleaner 42923558 is a better fit for targeted jobs—especially cleaning a car or picking up pet hair—than for dependable whole-home vacuuming. CHOICE reports that this $129 model performed poorly overall in its testing, despite doing well on car cleaning and pet hair. Kmart’s advertised features and runtime are useful specifications, but they do not outweigh that independent performance finding.
What exact model is this?
Kmart lists the cleaner as SKU P_42923558; the instruction manual identifies it as model EV-696-S222, Revision 4. Those identifiers help distinguish it from other Anko cordless stick cleaners. Kmart’s product page presents it as a cordless cleaner for reaching “nooks and crannies,” but that is the retailer’s description, not a performance assessment.
How well does it clean?
CHOICE’s Anko vacuum analysis says the $129 Cordless Stick Cleaner performed poorly overall in its testing, while doing well at cleaning cars and removing pet hair. How long does the battery last, and can it be replaced?
The 20-minute high and 30-minute low runtimes are Kmart claims, not independently verified battery-life results. Actual operating time may vary with use, and the available public information does not establish how long this particular unit runs under a standardized test.

When accessed on 7 October 2026, Kmart’s listing showed 4.7 out of 5 from 277 reviews; the rating and count can change. ProductReview.com.au showed 4.3 out of 5 from five reviews on the same date, with page-level subratings of 3.3 for battery life and 1.7 for noise. The five-review sample is small and self-selected, so it cannot establish typical cleaning results or reliability. How should you maintain it safely?
The Kmart/H.E. Group instruction manual for EV-696-S222, Revision 4, says to switch off the cleaner and remove the battery before maintenance, cleaning, or replacing parts. Clean the filters regularly, and do not use the cleaner with a damp or wet filter: the manual warns this can damage the filter and cleaner and void the warranty.
For replacement filters or batteries, the manual directs owners to H.E. Group customer service. It lists Australia at 1300 105 888 and New Zealand at 09 8870 447; check the manual or the manufacturer for current contact details before calling.

The manual describes indicators for a jammed motorized floor brush, blocked filter or airflow, and an overheated battery. If the battery is too hot to charge, it says to let it cool for 15–30 minutes before trying again.

Consider it if your priority is a light cordless cleaner for a limited task such as car interiors or pet hair, and you are comfortable with the limits of the public evidence. For regular whole-home floor cleaning, CHOICE’s reported poor overall result is a reason to compare better-performing stick vacuums rather than relying on the feature list, retailer rating, or advertised runtime.

Kmart displayed a $90 clearance price against a former $129 price when accessed on 7 October 2026. That is a dated, changeable offer, not a durable product price. CHOICE’s model listing labels the cleaner at $129. Check Kmart’s current listing before purchase.
