The KitchenAid KSC6222SS is a 6-quart (5.7 L) programmable slow cooker, but check the lid on your unit before relying on variant-specific descriptions: KitchenAid identifies this model as having an Easy Serve Glass Lid, while the family manual also covers KSC6222 hinged-lid and KSC6223 glass-lid versions. The manual’s hinged-lid details do not necessarily apply to a glass-lid cooker.
What the KSC6222SS offers
KitchenAid lists the KSC6222SS as a 6-quart slow cooker, equivalent to 5.7 L. The family manual describes a programmable timer with a maximum setting of 24 hours. After a timed cycle finishes, the cooker switches to Keep Warm for four hours and then shuts off. When run without a programmed time, the display reads “On”; the manual says it runs for up to 24 hours before automatic shutoff. KitchenAid’s KSC6222SS Owner’s Center and family owner’s manual provide model and operating details.
KitchenAid’s current general guidance describes Low, Medium and High heat levels. Keep Warm is intended to hold cooked food, not cook it. KitchenAid’s operating guidance covers those settings.
Identify the lid before using variant-specific advice
KitchenAid’s US support page describes the KSC6222SS as a 6-quart cooker with an Easy Serve Glass Lid. The family manual covers both KSC6222, described with a hinged lid, and KSC6223, with a glass lid. Inspect your cooker rather than assuming every feature described for one family version applies to another.

For the hinged KSC6222, KitchenAid says the design allows serving with less heat loss. That statement applies to the hinged-lid configuration; it is not a description of the glass lid.
Size, shape and independent-test limits
CHOICE’s listing gives the cooker an oval shape and a ceramic bowl. It reports dimensions of 30 × 44 × 25 cm (H × W × D) and a weight of 6.8 kg. Its listing also says the bowl is dishwasher-safe and not fridge-suitable, and marks the product discontinued in Australia. These specifications describe a substantial countertop appliance, so check the available counter and storage space before buying.

The family manual says the removable ceramic pot is dishwasher-safe. It states that the pot can withstand oven temperatures up to 300°F (140°C), but does not recommend oven use. Do not put the pot in a microwave or on a stovetop. The manual says the lids are not oven-safe. Because the manual covers family variants, check the literature supplied with your exact cooker if its configuration or documentation differs.

- Seat the ceramic pot correctly in the base and keep the lid on during cooking, as KitchenAid advises.
- For best results, use a pot that is at least half full. If using less than half, KitchenAid recommends checking the food’s temperature one to two hours earlier than the recipe directs.
- KitchenAid’s guidance for this large-capacity cooker recommends at least one quart (1 L) of food.
- Do not store the ceramic pot in the refrigerator. If it has been chilled, let it return to room temperature before adding hot or warm liquid.

KitchenAid lists replacement part W10443095G as a hinged lid fitting KSC6222 and KSC6223. Confirm that your cooker uses the hinged style and check current stock before ordering; a listed fit alone does not confirm availability or that this part matches a glass-lid unit.
