Buy Integrum Masterpiece only when you specifically want Kingdom Hearts III and Re Mind with the earlier games. It contains everything in The Story So Far—the 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 collections—then adds Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. Choose The Story So Far when you want the pre-KHIII material on PS4, already own Kingdom Hearts III, or do not want to pay for it in the same purchase.
There is an important platform qualification in 2026: the named Integrum Masterpiece release for Nintendo Switch is a Cloud version, while the newer KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] is listed as a native Switch 2 and PlayStation collection. Confirm the exact platform and edition before paying.
The short answer
The collections are not equivalent.
- Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far: the two earlier bundles, HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. It stops before Kingdom Hearts III.
- Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece: those same two bundles plus Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind.
That makes Integrum the more complete story package on paper. It is not automatically the better purchase, however, because the edition you can actually buy matters. The Switch Integrum listing is a streamed Cloud release that requires an internet connection. Nintendo and Square Enix now list a newer native Switch 2 collection, and Square Enix also lists physical and digital options for PlayStation and Switch 2.
Use the following rule: buy the edition that contains the games you need on hardware you can use reliably. Do not buy an old Switch Cloud listing expecting it to behave like a native cartridge or download.

Everything in The Story So Far
The Story So Far is a PS4 package built from two collections. It is the right scope for someone who wants the material leading up to Kingdom Hearts III, rather than a package that also includes the latest numbered game.
HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX
The 1.5+2.5 collection contains six entries or presentations:
- KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
- KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days as HD-remastered cinematics
- KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded as HD-remastered cinematics
The distinction between playable releases and cinematic presentations matters. The publisher identifies 358/2 Days and Re:coded as HD-remastered cinematics in this package; they are not described in the listing as full playable remasters.
HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
The 2.8 collection adds three more entries:
- KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD
- KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage
- KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover as a movie
With 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 together, The Story So Far supplies the pre-KHIII collection scope. The official product list does not include Kingdom Hearts III or its Re Mind downloadable content.
What Integrum Masterpiece adds
Integrum Masterpiece includes both packages above and adds KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC). In practical terms, the bundle takes you from the 1.5 and 2.5 material through 2.8 and then into KHIII without requiring a separate KHIII purchase.
The inclusion of Re Mind is specifically part of the listed KHIII component. Treat that wording as an edition check: a product named only for an earlier collection is not evidence that KHIII or the DLC is included.
If your goal is one purchase containing the complete three-part package—1.5+2.5, 2.8, and III + Re Mind—Integrum has the required contents. The newer KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] uses the same three-component structure in current publisher listings, so shoppers should compare the actual SKU rather than assume every retailer uses “Integrum Masterpiece” for the same platform version.

Platform and format differences that can change the decision
The Story So Far is listed for PS4
Square Enix’s product page identifies The Story So Far as a PS4 RPG. If you are buying for PS4, this is the collection whose listed platform matches the console. It is also the straightforward choice for a player who wants only the games covered by 1.5+2.5 and 2.8.
The Switch Integrum release is Cloud software
Nintendo’s product listing identifies the named Switch edition of Integrum Masterpiece as a digital Cloud version. Cloud software streams the game rather than installing a complete native build on the console, so your experience depends on a sufficiently reliable internet connection.
Nintendo places this warning on the product page: “THIS GAME REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY. PLEASE TRY OUT THE FREE DEMO BEFORE PURCHASE.” The free demo is the practical compatibility test. Run it on the same console, network and location where you expect to play; a successful download of the listing alone does not establish that streaming will be satisfactory.

Native Switch 2 editions are a separate product decision
Nintendo’s overview describes the newer Switch 2 versions as native games, and Square Enix’s collection page lists KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] for PlayStation and Switch 2 with physical and digital purchase options. Those listings describe the three collections together: 1.5+2.5, 2.8 and III + Re Mind.
Do not treat a Switch Cloud entitlement and a Switch 2 native version as interchangeable names. Check whether a retailer is selling the Cloud Switch product, a Switch 2 native product, or a PlayStation release. The box, store page and platform label should agree before checkout.
Switch availability and the 2026–2027 service deadline
Square Enix Support says sales of Nintendo Switch Cloud versions, including Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud, were discontinued at 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2026. The same notice schedules service discontinuation for 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2027. Because both dates are time-sensitive service information, verify the live support notice and store status when you purchase.
For eligible owners of a Cloud version, Square Enix says discounts may be available on corresponding digital Switch 2 versions and that save data can be transferred. The notice states that the physical Switch 2 collection is not eligible for that owner discount. Eligibility depends on the applicable account and product, so read the current support terms rather than assuming any used copy or region qualifies.

Nintendo also says existing Cloud saves can transfer to the new Switch 2 games. This gives current Cloud owners a migration path, but it does not make the discontinued Cloud product a sensible new purchase after sales have ended. A used code, a previously purchased account entitlement and an active service are different things; confirm all three before relying on a transfer plan.

How the package affects your budget
The contents difference is clear, but the right value depends on what you already own. If you need KHIII and Re Mind, a three-collection edition avoids buying the earlier bundles and the numbered game as unrelated products. If KHIII is already in your library, buying it again inside Integrum duplicates content. In that case, The Story So Far supplies the two earlier collections without making KHIII part of the same purchase.
No single price should be treated as permanent. Retailer stock, region, format and promotions can change, and the official listings do not establish a universal current price. Compare the exact SKU, check whether Re Mind is included, and calculate the cost against games you already own rather than against the bundle name alone.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Physical and digital availability also changes the buying decision. Square Enix currently lists physical and digital options for the newer Collection [I~III] on PlayStation and Switch 2. A physical listing still needs a platform check: a Switch 2 package is not the same product as the discontinued Switch Cloud entitlement, and the support notice excludes the physical Switch 2 collection from the Cloud-owner discount.
What “complete” means in these collections
Integrum is complete in the narrow package sense: it combines 1.5+2.5, 2.8 and KHIII with Re Mind. That does not mean every listed entry is a playable standalone game. 358/2 Days and Re:coded are presented as HD-remastered cinematics, and χ Back Cover is listed as a movie. Buyers who want to play every original release should read each descriptor instead of counting every title in the marketing list as a separate playable remaster.
For a first-time player, the two bundles in The Story So Far are therefore the material to complete before moving to KHIII. A player who already owns one or more of those games should make an inventory first; the bundle’s advantage is consolidation, while its disadvantage is possible duplication.
Which collection should you buy?
Choose Integrum or the current I–III collection when you want KHIII included
Pick the three-collection package when all of these statements fit:
- You want Kingdom Hearts III in the same purchase as the earlier collections.
- You also want the listed Re Mind DLC.
- Your platform edition is supported and clearly identified as the version you intend to play.
On current listings, that usually means checking the newer KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] for Switch 2 or PlayStation rather than searching only for the older Switch Cloud name.

Choose The Story So Far when you want the pre-KHIII material
The Story So Far is the better fit when:
- You play on PS4 and want the collection Square Enix lists for that console.
- You already own Kingdom Hearts III separately.
- You specifically want 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 without purchasing KHIII and Re Mind again.
- You are building your collection in stages and are comfortable obtaining KHIII in a separate, platform-matched edition later.
The package is not missing KHIII by accident; its scope ends with the 2.8 collection. That boundary is the reason to buy it, not a defect to discover after opening the box.
Do not choose the old Switch Cloud listing as a default new purchase
A Switch shopper should be especially cautious. The listing is Cloud-only, requires internet access, had sales discontinued on June 9, 2026, and has a service end scheduled for June 9, 2027. If you are shopping after the sales cutoff, look for the native Switch 2 collection instead and verify that your hardware is actually Switch 2.
How to verify a listing before you pay
- Read the platform line first. Confirm PS4, PlayStation, Switch Cloud or Switch 2. A title alone is not enough.
- Check the contents list. Look for all three components—1.5+2.5, 2.8 and III + Re Mind—if you want the complete package.
- Identify the format. Determine whether the offer is physical, a standard digital purchase or Cloud software.
- For Cloud software, test the demo. Nintendo explicitly recommends trying the free demo before purchase because an internet connection is required.
- Check region and account compatibility. Confirm that the store region, downloadable content and console account match your setup.
- Check sale and service status. For an older Switch Cloud listing, read the current Square Enix Support notice and do not rely on an archived retailer page.
- Keep the exact SKU and receipt. This helps distinguish a Cloud entitlement from a native Switch 2 product if you later need save-transfer or discount support.
Common buying mistakes
Assuming “The Story So Far” contains KHIII
It does not. Its official contents are 1.5+2.5 and 2.8. KHIII and Re Mind appear in Integrum’s three-collection description and in the newer Collection [I~III] listing.

Assuming Integrum always means a native download
The named Nintendo Switch Integrum listing is Cloud software. A native Switch 2 collection is a separate current listing. Inspect the platform and format labels instead of relying on the shared franchise name.
Buying a physical Switch 2 copy expecting the Cloud-owner discount
Square Enix’s support notice says the physical Switch 2 collection is not eligible for the owner discount described for eligible Cloud-version owners. Confirm the eligibility rule before planning your budget around a discount.
Ignoring the service end date
The Switch Cloud service is scheduled to end at 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2027. A purchase that depends on continued streaming should be evaluated against that date, not only against the price or the number of included games.
Counting cinematic entries as playable remasters
The 1.5+2.5 listing labels 358/2 Days and Re:coded as HD-remastered cinematics, while 2.8 labels χ Back Cover as a movie. Read those descriptors if your buying decision depends on how each entry is presented.
Decision examples
PS4 owner who has never played the series
The Story So Far matches the listed PS4 platform and provides 1.5+2.5 plus 2.8. You would still need a separate KHIII purchase to continue beyond that package.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Player seeking one package through KHIII
Choose Integrum where a supported edition is available, or the current Collection [I~III] listing on a matching PlayStation or Switch 2 platform. Verify that Re Mind is explicitly included.
Switch owner with an unstable connection
A Cloud edition is a poor fit if the required connection is unreliable. Nintendo’s free-demo instruction exists for this exact compatibility question. Consider a native Switch 2 version if you own the required hardware and the listing is available in your region.
Existing Switch Cloud owner
Read the current Square Enix support terms for the corresponding Switch 2 digital version, discount eligibility and save-data transfer. The support notice distinguishes digital eligibility from the physical collection, so do not assume every Switch 2 purchase receives the same treatment.

Buy The Story So Far for its PS4-focused 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 contents, especially if KHIII is already in your library.
