Plan on 127.8 GB for the current Nintendo Switch 2 Kingdom Hearts Collection if you install all three listed components. That figure is the sum of Nintendo’s current individual sizes: 53.8 GB for KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, 27.6 GB for KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and 46.4 GB for KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC). Nintendo does not publish a separate combined figure or specify extra temporary space for downloading and installation, so keep additional free space beyond the 127.8 GB total.
The short answer: how many gigabytes is the collection?
For Nintendo Switch 2, the three currently listed components add up to 127.8 GB. This is a calculation from Nintendo’s 2026 component pages, not a single combined number displayed on the collection page.
| Component | Published size | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- | 53.8 GB | Five playable or story packages plus two HD cutscene compilations |
| KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | 27.6 GB | Dream Drop Distance HD, χ Back Cover, and 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage – |
| KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) | 46.4 GB | Kingdom Hearts III and the Re Mind additional chapter |
| Calculated total | 127.8 GB | All three Switch 2 components |
For a complete Switch 2 installation, begin with at least the listed 127.8 GB free. Because the published pages do not quantify working space for downloads, decompression, updates, or installation, treating 127.8 GB as a precise “you need no more” threshold is risky. Check the console’s own download prompt before starting and leave room for updates and other software.

Nintendo describes the current collection as three separate packages rather than one indivisible game file. The content is divided as follows.
#1 Best Overall
- Nintendo Switch 2 uses a new standard of expandable memory card called microSD Express (sold separately). This kind of memory card is needed for faster access speeds and to ensure games will run smoothly.
- Please note: Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards. If the microSD cards you have used for Nintendo Switch do not support microSD Express standards, you cannot use them with Nintendo Switch 2.

Switch 2 storage: the figures to use today
Nintendo’s current 2026 pages list 53.8 GB, 27.6 GB, and 46.4 GB for the three components. Adding them gives 127.8 GB:
53.8 GB + 27.6 GB + 46.4 GB = 127.8 GB
The 127.8 GB result is useful for planning a full installation, but it is not a guaranteed download transaction size. File updates can change after a store page is published, and the available listing does not state how much temporary space the system may use while downloading or unpacking data. Do not assume that exactly 127.8 GB of nominal card capacity will always be enough.

Why an older 131 GB figure appears online
A June 13, 2026 report from Nintendo Life quoted pre-release estimates of 54.2 GB, 26.8 GB, and 45.2 GB for the three components, with a 131 GB bundle estimate. That report explicitly warned that the figures could change before launch.

Nintendo’s current component pages now show different values. The older 131 GB number is therefore a superseded estimate, not the figure to use for present-day Switch 2 planning. If you see both numbers in a search result, use the current Nintendo listings and show how their 127.8 GB total was calculated.
What the PC listing actually proves
Steam lists 60 GB available space for KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-. The 60 GB value appears in both Steam’s minimum and recommended requirements for that PC listing.
That is a requirement for the 1.5+2.5 package alone. It is not an official storage total for the complete three-part collection, and it should not be multiplied or transferred to another platform. The reviewed official information does not establish a combined PC requirement for all three packages.

Xbox and PlayStation: check the platform-specific listing
The Xbox and PlayStation bundle pages identify the same three collection components but do not state a combined download or installation size. Nintendo’s Switch 2 numbers cannot be used as substitutes: different platforms can package data, patches, compression, and entitlement files differently.

Before purchasing or downloading on either console:
- Open the exact store page for your console and edition.
- Read the displayed download or required-space figure, if one is shown.
- Check the console’s download screen after purchase, because it reflects the current version and any required update.
- Keep more free space than the displayed figure when the system warns that additional working space is required.
How to check free space on Switch 2
- From the Switch 2 HOME Menu, open System Settings.
- Select Data Management.
- Review available space in the console’s internal memory and on any inserted microSD Express card.
- Compare the available amount with the current component total and the space requested by the eShop download screen.
- If space is tight, archive or delete software you can redownload, remove unneeded captures, or install a compatible expansion card before starting the collection download.
Save data is separate from downloaded game data. Nintendo’s storage guidance says save data remains in console memory, while downloaded software and add-on or update data can be stored on supported expansion storage.
Expanding Switch 2 storage correctly
Use a microSD Express card, not an old Switch card
Nintendo says Switch 2 can store downloaded software, add-on content, and update data on a microSD Express card. Supported capacity is up to 2 TB. The card must carry the SD Express logo; a standard microSD card that worked as game storage in the original Switch is not usable for Switch 2 game storage.
The card is optional when the console has enough free space. It becomes practical when the collection and your existing library exceed internal capacity. Choose a card whose usable space exceeds the current collection requirement and leaves room for updates and other games; do not plan around a fixed buffer that Nintendo has not published.

- EPIC WORLDS, LOADED INSTANTLY. From the Mushroom Kingdom to Hyrule, your card delivers read speeds up to 880 MB/s[2] and write speeds up to 650 MB/s[2].
- OFFICIALLY READY FOR NINTENDO SWITCH 2. Officially licensed for Nintendo Switch 2, this microSD Express card offers dependable, high-performance storage.
- CAPTURE IN STUNNING CLARITY. Capture screenshots and record short video clips of your gameplay in Full HD.
- ROOM FOR YOUR ADVENTURES. With capacities up to 512GB[1], your card gives you the freedom to store your digital games in one place.
Insert the card before downloading
Power down or follow the console’s on-screen instructions when inserting storage, then confirm the card appears under System Settings → Data Management. If the system does not recognize the card, verify that it is an SD Express model and that it is fully seated. Do not expect an older non-Express card to solve a Switch 2 storage warning.
Game-Key Card installation requirements
If your edition is a Game-Key Card release, Nintendo says an internet connection is required for the first download. The game data is stored in console memory or on a microSD Express card, and the card must remain inserted when you play.
Game-Key Card rules are general Switch 2 guidance, so confirm the exact format in the package and storefront description before buying. A physical package can still require a substantial download; the presence of a card does not prove that all game data is preloaded on it.

Before you buy
- Identify your platform and edition. Do not use Switch 2 figures for PC, Xbox, or PlayStation.
- For Switch 2, plan around the calculated 127.8 GB for all three current components.
- Check whether the product is a download, a Game-Key Card, or another physical format.
- Confirm that any expansion card is microSD Express and within Nintendo’s supported capacity of up to 2 TB.
Before you start the download
- Connect the console to a reliable internet connection and install any pending system update.
- Open System Settings → Data Management and record free space.
- Insert and verify the microSD Express card if you need expansion storage.
- Start the eShop download and read the exact space warning or requirement shown for your edition.
- Keep the console powered and connected until the download and installation finish.
After installation
- Open the HOME Menu and confirm that each purchased component appears.
- Allow required title updates to complete before launching a game.
- Recheck Data Management if the system reports insufficient space after an update.
- Keep the microSD Express card inserted when content installed there is required to play.
Common storage problems and fixes
“Not enough space” despite matching 127.8 GB
The 127.8 GB figure is a sum of published component sizes, not a promise that no temporary space is needed. Free additional space, install to verified expansion storage, and retry from the download screen. If the console gives a different current requirement, follow that live figure.

The card is present but games still install internally
Check that the card is a supported microSD Express model, appears in System Settings → Data Management, and has usable free capacity. A standard microSD card may fit physically yet fail the Switch 2 game-storage requirement.
A Game-Key Card starts but asks for a download
That behavior is expected for this format. Connect to the internet for the first download, keep enough space in internal memory or on the microSD Express card, and leave the card inserted for play.
You cannot find an option to install only one collection component
The reviewed bundle pages do not document selective installation. Do not assume that deleting one component is supported or that every package can be separated; use the edition’s current download management screen for the options actually provided.

| Platform | Published storage information | How to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 53.8 GB + 27.6 GB + 46.4 GB; 127.8 GB calculated total | Keep at least the calculated total plus additional room; use microSD Express when needed |
| PC (Steam) | 60 GB for HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- only | Do not treat 60 GB as the full collection requirement |

Bottom line for choosing storage
For the current Switch 2 collection, the number to plan around is 127.8 GB for all three listed components, calculated from Nintendo’s 2026 pages. Treat that as the content total, not a guaranteed maximum of temporary or update space. On PC, the verified 60 GB figure covers only the 1.5+2.5 listing. Xbox and PlayStation buyers need the live requirement for their own edition. When Switch 2 space is limited, a compatible microSD Express card—up to Nintendo’s supported 2 TB capacity—is the expansion path; an old standard microSD card is not.
