Verdict: The A.H. Beard King Koil Conforma Element is an Australian-made pocket-spring mattress range with four comfort choices—Plush, Medium, Firm and Super Firm. Its Conforma/Reflex pocket springs and Profile Edge Support are intended to provide adaptable support and a more usable edge, but those are manufacturer design claims rather than independently verified performance results. The Queen is listed by CHOICE at 28 cm and 36 kg with a dated reference price of $999, although CHOICE marks the model discontinued.
This review explains the construction, available sizes, firmness choices, warranty, returns policy, availability risks and the checks to make before ordering. Because no numeric firmness scale, body-weight limit, independent pressure-relief score or publicly accessible CHOICE test result is provided, your own in-store trial and the retailer’s current terms matter more than any prediction about how it will feel for a particular sleeper.
What the Conforma Element is
The King Koil Conforma Element is a spring mattress range made by A.H. Beard in Australia. It is not one single feel: the range is sold in Plush, Medium, Firm and Super Firm versions. The official description lists a soft stretch-knit cover, EvoFoam Comfort Foam, AeroQuilt quilting, a Conforma Coil Support System and Profile Edge Support.
The model is aimed at shoppers who want a traditional spring core with several firmness choices rather than a single all-foam feel. The available evidence supports describing it as a pocket-spring mattress with comfort materials above the coils. It does not establish a universal comfort rating or prove that one version suits a particular body type, sleeping position or medical condition.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How its support system works
Conforma and Reflex pocket springs
A.H. Beard’s King Koil range describes Reflex Support Technology as individually pocketed springs that move independently. In principle, separate spring movement allows the mattress to respond under one part of the body without forcing a large surrounding area to move. The company says the Conforma Coil system adapts to the sleeper’s size and shape and is intended to distribute pressure and reduce partner disturbance.
The manufacturer’s wording is: “The Conforma Coil support system adapts to your individual size and shape to provide all-over support and help keep you asleep.” That sentence is a design intention, not an independent laboratory result. The supplied product information does not include motion-transfer measurements, pressure maps, durability testing or a consumer trial dataset.
Profile Edge Support
Profile Edge Support is intended to preserve useful support near the perimeter. A supportive edge can make sitting down, standing up and using the full mattress width easier, particularly for couples who sleep close to the side. The available specifications do not state the edge’s material, reinforcement dimensions or a measured compression result, so treat the feature as a construction claim rather than a quantified performance advantage.

Comfort layers and quilting
The product page names EvoFoam Comfort Foam and a soft stretch-knit cover. Quilting differs by comfort option: AeroQuilt is specified for Plush, while Medium is listed with an Ultraloft Fibre Blend. The published material description does not provide foam density, thickness by layer, fire-barrier details or a complete construction diagram for every firmness, so shoppers should request the exact specification for the size and feel they are ordering.
Firmness choices: Plush, Medium, Firm or Super Firm?
| Version | What the published description supports | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Plush | Designed for more surface cushioning; AeroQuilt is specified. | No numeric firmness score, sink measurement or pressure-relief result. |
| Medium | The middle choice in the four-option range; an Ultraloft Fibre Blend is specified. | No evidence that it is universally medium-firm across body weights or sleep positions. |
| Firm | Provides progressively less sink than Plush and Medium. | No published compression value, body-weight limit or support test. |
| Super Firm | The least yielding choice in the listed range. | No independent confirmation of feel, spinal alignment or suitability for a specific sleeper. |
Choose by the amount of surface give you normally tolerate, not by the label alone. Plush is the logical starting point if you prefer a cushioned initial feel. Medium is the range’s middle option. Firm and Super Firm are intended for sleepers who want less sink. Since A.H. Beard does not publish a numeric firmness scale, lie on the exact version for several minutes in your normal sleeping positions before buying whenever possible.

A showroom test cannot predict every long-term outcome, but it can expose an immediate mismatch: hips dropping too far, shoulders feeling compressed, difficulty turning or an edge that feels unstable when you sit. If two people share the bed, both should test it, because a feel that suits one sleeper may not suit the other.

CHOICE’s accessible listing records the Queen at 28 cm high and 36 kg, with 11 layers and 221 pocket springs per square metre. Those figures describe the listed Queen specification; do not automatically apply them to every size or firmness until the retailer confirms it. Bed-frame clearances, fitted-sheet depth and delivery access should be checked against the dimensions of the exact size you select.
Price and availability: why the Queen figure needs caution
CHOICE records a $999 reference price for the Queen. It is a dated reference rather than a guaranteed current selling price, and the same listing labels the model “Discontinued model.” Live stock, authorised distribution, delivery charges and the available firmnesses therefore need confirmation before payment.
A current listing can be for old inventory, a different Conforma Element firmness, a different size or a similarly named King Koil product. Ask the seller to identify the exact A.H. Beard King Koil Conforma Element version, quote the mattress dimensions, state whether the price is recurring or promotional, and confirm that the warranty is supplied by the original manufacturer or an authorised retailer.

Availability checklist
- Confirm the model name exactly, including “Conforma Element.”
- Confirm size, firmness and the actual in-stock quantity.
- Ask whether the item is new, clearance stock or previously displayed.
- Get the delivered price, including stairs, room-of-choice delivery and old-mattress removal if relevant.
- Check the expected dispatch date and the carrier’s access requirements.
- Keep the invoice and product identification for any guarantee claim.
Breathability, dust-mite and Australian-made claims
A.H. Beard markets AeroQuilt and other comfort components as breathable. The company also displays Australian Made and Sensitive Choice positioning. Sensitive Choice is described by the company as relating to long-term protection against dust mites, allergens, mould and bacteria.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThese statements should be read as certification or manufacturer claims, not as a medical guarantee. “Breathable” does not provide a standardised heat-retention score, and Sensitive Choice positioning does not promise that every sleeper will experience fewer allergy symptoms. Bedroom humidity, bedding, ventilation, room temperature and cleaning routines still affect the sleeping environment.
If allergy performance is a deciding factor, ask for the current certification details and care instructions for the precise model and production date. Use a washable, correctly fitted protector that does not defeat the cover’s intended airflow, and follow the care guidance supplied with the mattress.
Warranty and returns
Ten-year guarantee
The official page states that the original purchaser receives a 10-year guarantee covering repair for faulty workmanship and materials. “Original purchaser” matters: a second-hand mattress or a transfer to another owner may not retain the same rights. The guarantee is not a promise that the mattress will feel unchanged for ten years, nor does the published summary establish coverage for comfort preference, normal softening, stains, misuse or an unsuitable base.
Read the complete guarantee document before ordering. Check the required base type, centre support, ventilation, weight distribution, handling instructions and the process for reporting a defect. Photograph the mattress and retain the invoice if a problem appears.

No change-of-mind returns
A.H. Beard says it does not offer change-of-mind returns. The company also says support-level adjustments may be available after purchase for a nominal fee. That is different from a free comfort exchange: ask the retailer what qualifies, how soon a request must be made, what the fee is, and whether transport or protector costs are additional.
Retailer terms can add conditions, but they should not be assumed to override consumer-law rights that apply in your location. Confirm the policy in writing before unwrapping the mattress, because opening it may affect a retailer’s ability to accept a return even where a return program exists.
Who may prefer the Conforma Element?
Potentially suitable preferences
- Sleepers who want a spring-based feel with several firmness choices.
- Couples who value independently moving coils as a possible way to limit partner disturbance.
- People who use the perimeter and want a design specifically intended to support the edge.
- Shoppers who prefer an Australian-made product and want the available Australian size range.
- Buyers willing to test the precise firmness rather than rely on a universal rating.
Situations requiring extra caution
- You need a quantified pressure-relief, motion-transfer or heat test; none is published in the supplied material.
- You need a stated weight limit or a firmness recommendation tied to body weight; A.H. Beard does not publish one for this model.
- You require a generous home trial or change-of-mind return; the manufacturer says change-of-mind returns are not offered.
- You are buying from a clearance or marketplace listing; the model is marked discontinued by CHOICE, so authenticity and current support need checking.
- You have a medical condition and are seeking a therapeutic guarantee; the available claims do not establish medical outcomes.
How to compare it with another mattress
A fair comparison should use the same size, firmness category and purchase conditions. Focus on measurable or contractually clear differences rather than advertising adjectives.
| Comparison point | Question to ask | Conforma Element evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Firmness choice | How many feels are offered, and can the exact one be tested? | Plush, Medium, Firm and Super Firm are listed; no numeric scale is published. |
| Coil design | Are the springs pocketed and independently moving? | Conforma/Reflex pocket-spring design is described by the manufacturer. |
| Edge support | Is there perimeter reinforcement, and is it measured? | Profile Edge Support is listed; no compression test is provided. |
| Height and weight | What are the exact figures for the chosen size? | CHOICE lists the Queen at 28 cm and 36 kg. |
| Layers and springs | Are layer count and spring density specified? | CHOICE lists 11 layers and 221 pocket springs per square metre for the Queen. |
| Breathability and allergy positioning | Are claims certified, tested or simply marketed? | AeroQuilt breathability and Sensitive Choice positioning are manufacturer claims. |
| Returns | Can you change your mind, and what fees apply to an adjustment? | No change-of-mind returns are stated; support-level adjustments may be available for a nominal fee. |
| Warranty | Who is covered and for how long? | Ten-year guarantee for the original purchaser against faulty workmanship and materials. |
| Current availability | Is the exact model new and authorised? | CHOICE marks it discontinued; verify live stock and seller status. |
Independent CHOICE performance scores are member-only in the accessible listing. Do not treat the presence of a CHOICE entry as evidence of a particular test score or ranking.
Buying and setup steps
- Choose the size from the published dimensions. Measure the room, frame and delivery path, including stair turns and door clearances.
- Select a firmness to test. Decide whether you normally prefer cushioning or a flatter, less yielding surface, then lie on the exact Plush, Medium, Firm or Super Firm version.
- Obtain a written specification. Ask for the size-specific height, weight, construction, cover-care instructions and base requirements.
- Confirm stock and seller status. Because the model is marked discontinued, verify that the listing is current, new and supplied through an authorised channel.
- Read the guarantee and return terms. Pay particular attention to the original-purchaser requirement, exclusions, adjustment fee and any opening or hygiene conditions.
- Check the delivered total. Include freight, access surcharges, removal services, taxes and any required protector or base.
- Inspect on delivery. Before use, check the label, size, firmness, seams, cover and visible damage. Photograph discrepancies and report them promptly.
- Use a suitable base. Follow A.H. Beard’s current support and ventilation requirements so a base problem does not complicate a future guarantee claim.
Common pitfalls and practical fixes
Assuming the label is a universal firmness rating
“Medium” is not a regulated number. Body weight, shape, sleeping position and the comfort layers change the perceived feel. Fix: test the exact version or buy only where the written policy explains a genuine adjustment option.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

Using the Queen figures for every size
The 28 cm height, 36 kg weight, 11 layers and 221 springs per square metre come from CHOICE’s Queen listing. Fix: request size-specific confirmation for a Single, King Single, King or Super King.
Treating a reference price as a live deal
The $999 Queen figure is dated, and the listing says discontinued. Fix: compare the delivered price and warranty terms on a current listing, and do not assume a low price means the same specification.
Expecting a comfort return
The manufacturer says change-of-mind returns are not offered. Fix: test before purchase and ask in advance about any nominal-fee support-level adjustment.
Reading allergy language as a health guarantee
Sensitive Choice positioning concerns long-term protection claims; it does not guarantee symptom relief. Fix: verify certification and maintain the mattress and bedroom according to the supplied care instructions.
Final assessment
The Conforma Element’s strongest case is choice: four firmness levels, individually pocketed springs, a stated edge-support system and an Australian-made King Koil construction. The Queen’s published 28 cm height, 36 kg weight, 11 layers and 221 pocket springs per square metre provide useful reference points, but only for that listed Queen specification.
Its weaknesses are uncertainty at the point of purchase. No numeric firmness scale, body-weight limit, independent pressure-relief result or public CHOICE score is available in the supplied information. The model’s discontinued status also makes current stock, authenticity and warranty support important checks. The no-change-of-mind policy raises the cost of choosing the wrong feel, so an exact-version trial and written retailer terms are more valuable than a generic online rating.
