Five keyboards appear in manufacturer documentation as candidates for smart-TV use: Logitech K600 TV, K400/K400 Plus, K360 and K750, plus LG’s MKS-1200. They are not equally supported: LG specifically lists four models for its TVs, while Logitech documents the K600’s TV-platform profiles. None is guaranteed to work with every TV or app. Check your TV’s exact model and the app you plan to use before buying.
Which keyboards are worth considering?
This is a conditional shortlist based on manufacturer documentation, not a universal compatibility ranking or hands-on test. The LG models below are listed by LG for its TV context; Logitech’s K600 TV documentation describes profiles for several platforms but does not certify every model or app.
| Keyboard | Connection or control documented | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Logitech K600 TV | Bluetooth; integrated touchpad | Logitech provides profiles for Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, Android TV, Windows and other device types. This does not establish compatibility with every TV model or app. Logitech pairing and profile instructions. |
| Logitech K400 / K400 Plus | Wireless USB receiver; K400 Plus has an integrated touchpad | LG lists the K400 among compatible keyboard products. Logitech positions the K400 Plus primarily for a TV-connected computer; the LG listing is not a cross-brand guarantee. LG keyboard guidance and Logitech K400 Plus product page. |
| Logitech K360 | USB connection required by the LG compatibility context | LG lists this model; confirm support for your TV model and its USB connection. Current availability and further specifications are not established by that listing. LG keyboard guidance. |
| Logitech K750 | USB connection required by the LG compatibility context | LG lists this model. Check model-specific support, app behavior and current product availability. LG keyboard guidance. |
| LG Electronics MKS-1200 | Connection details and current availability not stated in the cited compatibility list | LG includes it in its compatible keyboard list, but the listing does not establish support for every LG TV or for other brands. Verify current availability and model support. LG keyboard guidance. |
What to check before you buy
- Exact TV model: manufacturers qualify support by model and platform. A brand-level claim is not enough to confirm a particular pairing.
- Connection type: determine whether the TV accepts a wired USB keyboard, a USB wireless receiver, or Bluetooth HID input. Bluetooth audio support alone does not mean the TV accepts a Bluetooth keyboard.
- Your intended app: keyboard entry and pointer navigation are separate capabilities. A keyboard can pair while an app ignores some keys or does not support a pointer.
- Pointing control: an integrated touchpad can help with navigation without adding a mouse, but it cannot make an app pointer-compatible.
How to connect a keyboard to a smart TV
Use the connection method documented for your TV. The exact menu labels and paths vary by model, year and region; follow the TV’s manual if they differ.
USB keyboard or wireless USB receiver
- Check the TV manual or manufacturer support page for USB keyboard support on your exact model.
- Connect the wired keyboard, or plug the keyboard’s wireless USB receiver into a TV USB port.
- Wait for recognition, then try text entry in a supported search field. If it is not recognized, test another USB port if available and check the model manual for supported devices or setup requirements.
Bluetooth keyboard
- Confirm that the TV supports Bluetooth keyboards or Bluetooth HID devices, not merely Bluetooth audio.
- Put the keyboard into pairing mode.
- Open the TV’s Bluetooth device settings and select the keyboard when it appears. The menu path is model- and region-specific.
- For the Logitech K600 TV, follow Logitech’s instructions to select an Easy-Switch key, pair through the device settings and choose the function-key profile that matches the device: K600 pairing and profile instructions.

Samsung
Samsung Australia’s support guidance, updated 24 November 2025, describes connecting a wired keyboard or a wireless keyboard’s USB receiver to the TV’s USB port. It says most Samsung TVs made before 2018 automatically recognize USB devices, but also warns that certain models do not support Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse connections. For Bluetooth, the keyboard must be in pairing mode and the TV must support it. The page is regional, and menu paths can vary; check local specifications and your model’s instructions. Samsung UK’s guidance, published 19 June 2026, clarifies that Bluetooth audio support does not necessarily mean support for Bluetooth HID peripherals such as keyboards. It also says USB Bluetooth transmitters and receivers are not supported. Those details come from the UK regional page and should not be treated as universal menu instructions. Samsung UK Bluetooth guidance.
LG webOS
LG USA Support says keyboard connection is available on Smart TV models released after 2012 and documents wired USB and wireless USB-dongle keyboards. Its compatible-products list includes the Logitech K360, K400 and K750, as well as LG MKS-1200. This guidance is specific to LG’s support context; confirm your own model’s support. LG also cautions, “You may not be able to use some apps.” LG USA Support keyboard guidance, updated 26 June 2026.

Sony Google TV and Android TV
Sony USA says Google TV and Android TV can generally recognize most USB keyboards and mice and may recognize many Bluetooth ones. Some functions may not work as intended, and Sony does not guarantee particular accessories. The guidance applies to Google TV or Android TV, not every Sony Smart TV; use your TV’s manual for the correct connection method. Sony keyboard and mouse support, modified 19 January 2026.

If the keyboard connects but does not work as expected
- It does not appear in Bluetooth settings: check that the TV supports Bluetooth HID, the keyboard is in pairing mode, and the model supports external keyboards. Audio-only Bluetooth capability is insufficient.
- A USB receiver is not recognized: verify USB keyboard support for the exact TV model and that the receiver is connected to a usable port. A USB Bluetooth adapter is not a workaround on Samsung TVs covered by the UK guidance.
- Typing works in one place but not another: the app may not accept keyboard input. LG explicitly notes that some apps may not work with a keyboard.
- The touchpad or pointer does not help: pointer support is app-dependent, so successful pairing does not guarantee pointer navigation.
Manufacturer pages do not establish a universal compatibility rate, comparable typing or wireless-range tests, or current stock for these candidates. Treat the models as leads to verify against the TV and app you intend to use.
