To use Kaspersky VPN, open the app for your device and connect from its main screen. On Android, Kaspersky’s documented steps are to open Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection and tap Turn on. Windows and Android also have documented controls for choosing which apps use the VPN; Windows has a separate Kill Switch setting. The exact labels and options can differ by platform and app version.
How do I install Kaspersky VPN or add a device?
Use the official app-store listing or Kaspersky’s download route for your region. In the desktop app version covered by Kaspersky’s instructions, open the menu and select Other devices, then scan the QR code or choose an operating system to reach the download flow. After installation, the mobile app may connect to My Kaspersky automatically and begin protecting the device. How do I turn on Kaspersky VPN?
Android
- Open Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection.
- Tap Turn on.

Other platforms
Connection controls and labels are not established here for every platform. Open the installed app and use its platform-specific connection control; consult Kaspersky Support if the app’s current interface differs from the documented Android example.

How do I use split tunneling in Kaspersky VPN?
Split tunneling lets you choose which apps use the VPN and which do not. The setup and caveats differ between the documented Android and Windows versions.
Android
- Open Kaspersky VPN and go to VPN > Settings.
- Enable Split Tunneling.
- Use the app list to enable VPN routing for the apps you choose. The documented screen also provides an option to enable all when VPN use is disabled for every listed app.
- If the VPN was connected while you changed the selection, disconnect and reconnect so the change takes effect.
Kaspersky Support: Android Split Tunneling.
Windows
- Open Settings > Split Tunneling.
- Turn the feature on.
- Choose either the apps that should use the VPN or the apps that should not, according to the routing option you want.
Kaspersky documents DNS behavior that can be unexpected. It also warns that an app selected to use the VPN may briefly send data over an unsecured connection while the VPN reconnects—even if Kill Switch is enabled. Excluding an app means it can use an unsecured connection. Split tunneling should not be treated as a guarantee that every DNS request or packet follows the route you expect. How do I turn on Kill Switch in Kaspersky VPN for Windows?
In the Windows app version described by Kaspersky, Kill Switch is off by default. The documented path is VPN Menu > Settings > Kill Switch; switch it on to block internet access if the secure connection is interrupted. Check the controls and behavior in your installed version, because the documentation is version-specific. - Connection does not start: confirm you are using the app for your device and follow its current connection control. The exact Android instruction cited here is to tap Turn on.
- Split-tunneling changes do not apply on Android: reconnect after changing the app selection while connected.
- An app appears to bypass the VPN: check whether it is excluded from VPN routing. On Windows, also account for Kaspersky’s documented DNS and reconnection caveats.
- Internet access stops after the tunnel drops: on Windows, check whether Kill Switch is enabled in the installed version. The documented behavior is to block internet access when the secure connection is interrupted.
What is not established by these setup instructions?
Kaspersky’s cited help pages do not establish current prices, free-tier limits, device limits, or availability in a particular country. They also do not establish equivalent split-tunneling or Kill Switch behavior across every operating system.
