Open the iPhone’s Camera, point it at the Wi-Fi QR code, then tap the on-screen prompt and follow any confirmation shown. Check Settings > Wi-Fi to confirm the connection. If scanning doesn’t finish the process, select the network there and enter its password or complete its sign-in steps.
Scan the Wi-Fi code with Camera
- Open Camera and choose Photo mode.
- Position the iPhone so the QR code is inside the camera frame. Wait for an action prompt to appear.
- Tap the prompt and follow the Wi-Fi action and any confirmation iOS presents. A scan does not guarantee that every code or iOS version will connect without another step.
Apple documents Camera as a built-in way to scan QR codes, so you do not need a separate scanner app for this workflow. See Apple’s QR-code scanning instructions.

Use Control Center’s Scan Code option
If you prefer a dedicated scanner, open Control Center, tap Scan Code, and frame the QR code. If Scan Code is not there, add the control to Control Center. In low light, the scanner’s flashlight option can help illuminate the code. Apple documents both Camera and Control Center as QR-scanning routes.

Check the connection or join from Wi-Fi settings
Open Settings > Wi-Fi. Apple identifies a blue checkmark beside a network name as the indicator that the iPhone is connected. If the scan did not connect you, tap the network in Wi-Fi settings, enter its password if requested, and follow any instructions on screen. See Apple’s instructions for connecting to Wi-Fi.

When a public network asks you to sign in
Some hotel, airport, café, and other public networks use a captive login page. After you select the network, you may need to enter a username and password or email address, or accept terms before internet access is available. Scanning its QR code or selecting the network may therefore be only the first step. Apple explains these sign-in screens in its guide to captive Wi-Fi networks.
Joining a network is different from sharing its access
If you are the network owner and want someone else to join, a connected iPhone can display a Wi-Fi QR code: open the network’s Wi-Fi details and tap Show Network QR Code for the other person to scan. Apple also supports nearby password sharing between Apple devices. For that method, the sharing iPhone must be unlocked and connected to the network; the other person must be signed in to their Apple Account, be in the owner’s contacts, and be nearby.
