JJJJound’s new New Balance 990v3 replaces the model’s familiar mesh-and-suede upper with suede throughout. JJJJound says the change gives the shoe a more elevated character while retaining the 990v3’s performance heritage. Its official preview sets the release start date at October 22, 2026, but does not confirm a price, exact launch time, style code, or full regional release channels.
What changes on the new JJJJound 990v3?
The defining change is the upper: JJJJound says it removed the mesh and made the shoe entirely in suede. The studio describes the design intent as making the 990v3 feel more elevated while keeping its performance heritage in view. That is a statement of intent, not a published performance test or claim about comfort or durability. JJJJound’s October 9, 2026 preview does not provide a complete materials list or detailed specifications for the new pair.
When does it release, and what is confirmed?
JJJJound says the release starts October 22, 2026. The official preview does not provide a retail price, exact release time, style code, or complete information about regional release channels. Those details should be treated as unconfirmed unless an official listing adds them. The preview date and release date are stated by JJJJound; they do not establish when every retailer or region will make the shoe available.
How it compares with earlier JJJJound 990v3 collaborations
JJJJound’s first New Balance collaboration was a 990v3 released November 23, 2018. Its archive lists suede, mesh, foam, and rubber among the materials and describes a brown upper, white midsole, grey outsole accents, beige laces, reflective N details, an ENCAP midsole, and a rubber outsole. Those are details of the 2018 shoe, not confirmed specifications for the 2026 pair. The 2018 archive entry documents that earlier design.

A separate 2022 JJJJound 990v3 used a tonal Brown/Black colorway with nubuck and mesh, reflective details, minimal branding, an ENCAP midsole, and a rubber outsole. The archive also identifies it as MADE in USA. This makes the new preview’s removal of mesh a clear construction difference from both earlier editions, though JJJJound has not yet published equivalent color or component details for the 2026 shoe. JJJJound’s 2022 archive entry covers that release.
What “Made in USA” means here
JJJJound’s preview says New Balance Made in USA footwear contains a domestic value of 70% or more, and that Made in USA accounts for a limited portion of New Balance’s U.S. sales. This is a general threshold stated by JJJJound, not a product-specific calculation for the new collaboration. It should not be read to mean every component, or the entire shoe, is made in the United States.
