Reliance Jio showcased AI glasses at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in New Delhi. Contemporary reports say a wearer can look at a QR code and use a voice command to initiate a UPI payment; the full authorization and security process has not been established. Reports also describe live translation, AI note-taking and cricket commentary. Jio has not established the showcase model’s retail specifications, price, launch date or availability in the official materials reviewed.
Can Jio AI Glasses make UPI payments?
According to Jagran and TelecomTalk, the wearer looks at a QR code and gives a voice command to initiate a UPI payment. This is a reported showcase capability, not an independently verified retail feature.
The reports do not explain how the payment is authorized, which phone app or bank account is involved, whether a PIN or other confirmation is required, or what happens if the glasses misread a code. Looking at a QR code alone should not be understood to complete a payment; the reported flow also involves a voice command, and its remaining steps are unknown.
Reported UPI limits
Jagran reports a maximum of ₹5,000 per transaction and ₹15,000 per month, attributing those limits to UPI Circle rules rather than to Jio. The primary sources reviewed do not confirm those figures, so treat them as reported limits, not settled rules for these glasses.

What Jio’s official materials confirm
Reliance’s Q2 FY26 analyst presentation describes JioFrames as “Full stack AI smart glasses” and lists audio and audio-plus-camera variants powered by Jio AI, an in-house hardware-to-OS technology stack and multilingual voice AI. This documents the company’s broader smart-glasses direction; it does not confirm the specific IMC 2026 device or its reported UPI feature.
Jio’s JioReality FAQ describes AI Frames as smart glasses with built-in audio and a camera, and identifies JioReality OS, JioReality AI and the JioReality App as platform components. It says the app is the primary gateway for managing experiences and that most AI features require app connectivity. The FAQ also describes partner-brand sales through optical stores and says prescription lenses may be fitted depending on the frame and partner offering. Those are platform-level details, not confirmation that the IMC showcase model is on sale or has the same setup.

An iTechGuides explainer published October 7, 2026 notes that Reliance’s August 2025 JioFrames announcement did not mention QR or UPI payments. That earlier omission does not rule out a capability shown later, but the UPI claim rests on contemporary IMC reporting rather than the official Jio materials reviewed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Price, launch date and availability
The official materials reviewed do not establish a final product name, price, launch date, purchase channel or retail availability for the glasses shown at IMC 2026. Nor do they provide a confirmed specification sheet or the complete UPI authorization flow. The partner-brand and optical-store information in Jio’s FAQ concerns its broader AI Frames platform and should not be treated as a listing for this particular showcase model.
