JDM: Ph4ntom Driver is a standalone PC spin-off of JDM: Japanese Drift Master. Gaming Factory describes it as an action-oriented arcade racer with brawling, Japanese folklore and JDM street-culture influences. It is in prerelease development for Windows through Steam, and no release date has been announced.
What is JDM: Ph4ntom Driver?
The game moves the JDM series away from conventional street-racing stakes and into a supernatural adventure. You enter the Spirit World, a once-green land made dark and oppressive after a demonic invasion that the player accidentally caused. The stated objective is to survive, find allies, keep moving and ultimately confront the demon king Shouten Douji.
Gaming Factory’s official announcement calls it “a standalone action-oriented, arcade racing game with a brawling gameplay focus, inspired by the JDM street culture and Japanese folklore.” Because it is standalone, players should not need the original game to understand the premise or play the campaign.
How the racing and combat work together
Driving remains central, but the car is also presented as a weapon. The announcement says the player will use a JDM car to fight supernatural enemies while travelling through the world. That makes this an arcade action-racing game rather than a pure driving simulator: quick movement, encounters and combat are part of the same loop.

Supernatural enemies
The Spirit World contains Youkai drawn from Japanese folklore, including Kodama, Oni and Omukade. Their presence gives the game a different threat structure from ordinary traffic, rival racers or police pursuits. The available announcement does not specify enemy classes, boss mechanics, upgrade trees or a detailed combat control scheme.
The setting: a corrupted Guntama
The open world is a redesigned and stylised version of Guntama, the fictional region associated with the JDM series. In Ph4ntom Driver, the familiar environment is reworked as a darker Spirit World shaped by the demonic invasion. The announcement does not establish the map’s final size, activity count or how much of the original layout is retained.

Story presentation and campaign structure
The announced format is a lengthy single-player campaign. Story scenes are presented through hand-drawn manga, supported by a dialogue system. This points to a more narrative-driven progression than a sequence of disconnected races, with conversations and character encounters helping move the journey toward Shouten Douji.
Multiplayer is planned, but no launch window, player count, mode list or online requirements have been announced. Treat multiplayer as a post-announcement feature promise rather than a confirmed launch feature until Gaming Factory publishes those details.
