The JBL Live Beam 4 is a sealed, stem-style true wireless earbud with lively, bass-forward sound and an unusually feature-rich touchscreen charging case. Reviews praise its comfort, soundstage and case controls, but describe its noise cancellation and call quality as less impressive; TechRadar also found its spatial audio mode disappointing. It makes most sense if you value sound and hands-on case controls more than class-leading ANC or a compact case.
What are the JBL Live Beam 4 earbuds?
The Live Beam 4 is the sealed in-ear model in JBL’s Live 4 family. JBL lists adaptive noise cancellation, Smart Ambient modes, six microphones, Hi-Res Audio support and a touchscreen Smart Charging Case among its features. The official UK product page describes its sound as JBL Signature Sound and lists support features including the JBL Headphones app, Google Finder, Audio Switch, LE Audio and Personi-Fi 3.0. These are manufacturer descriptions and specifications, not independent performance measurements. JBL’s UK product listing provides the product details.
How does the Live Beam 4 sound?
Reviews characterize the sound as energetic and punchy rather than neutral. Tom’s Guide praised the bass and wide soundstage, while TechRadar reported impactful bass, rich mids and vibrant treble. Those are listening impressions from the reviewers, not results from a laboratory comparison. The overall picture is a lively presentation likely to suit listeners who enjoy weight and presence in their music.

That is one publication’s assessment, so treat it as a reason to audition the feature if spatial audio matters to you, not as a guarantee of how every listener will perceive it.
#1 Best Overall
- Hi-Res Audio Wireless with JBL signature sound
- The JBL Live Beam 3's 10mm dynamic drivers are powered by JBL Signature Sound. Each driver is perfectly tuned to deliver deep bass, balanced mid-range, and refined high frequencies—all at any volume level. JBL Spatial Sound makes you feel like you're at a concert as the sound comes from virtually everywhere around you.
- Convenient Smart Charging Case for app-free control
- You can customize every aspect of your JBL Live Beam 3 earbuds with the 1.45-inch touchscreen display on your Smart Charging Case. The display gives you full control of your sound on any devices - laptop, TV, smartphones, or tablets -, without needing to access the JBL App on your smartphone.
- True adaptive noise cancelling with custom control
How good are the noise cancellation and calls?
JBL equips the earbuds with True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0 and six microphones, but the presence of those features does not by itself establish how well they perform. Tom’s Guide said the ANC was effective, though not as strong as Bose QuietComfort earbuds. TechRadar also saw room for improvement in ANC and call quality. If blocking noise or making clear calls is your main reason to upgrade, these reviews suggest comparing the Beam 4 with alternatives before choosing.
JBL’s support record lists a March 16, 2026 software release that included improved ANC performance, an option to power off from the Smart Charging Case, Android clock synchronization and stability improvements. A June 24, 2026 case update listed stability and performance improvements. These are dated release notes, not proof of the latest available firmware; check JBL Support for later updates and model-specific instructions.

- 48 hours total playback plus wireless charging: Enjoy 12 hours of playtime, plus another 36 in the charging case*. 10 minutes on a USB type-C charging cable will give you another 4 hours of playtime. You can also recharge them wirelessly. (*with ANC off)
- Multi-point connection: Switch effortlessly from one Bluetooth device to another, so if you are watching a video on your tablet, you won’t miss a call on your mobile.
Is the touchscreen charging case useful?
The case’s screen lets you manage functions including volume, tracks, ANC, ambient sound and EQ without reaching for the phone app. Tom’s Guide and TechRadar both praised its interface and controls, making it one of the Beam 4’s clearest differentiators. The trade-off is size: TechRadar described the case as bulky. If you prefer a small pocketable case, that may matter more than the extra controls.
What are the battery life and charging claims?
JBL rates the earbuds for up to 12 hours of playback with ANC off and up to 10 hours with ANC on. It lists up to 36 additional hours from the case, for up to 48 hours total with ANC off. These are manufacturer maximums, not independently verified battery results in the cited reviews; actual runtime can vary with settings and use.

- JBL Pure Bass sound: JBL Vibe Beam 2 earbuds feature 8mm dynamic drivers that deliver exciting JBL Pure Bass sound.
- Active Noise Cancelling:Listen to your surroundings & filter out distracting noise. Smart Ambient lets you control how much of the outside world you want to hear, so you can talk with others or stay aware of your surroundings while keeping your earbuds in
- 4 mics for crisp, clear calls: Two mics on each earbud pick up and clearly transmit your voice while canceling out ambient noise. So you can make clear, crisp calls even when you're walking through a busy park on a breezy day.
- 40 total hours of playback: Enjoy 10 hours of playtime, plus another three full charges (30Hrs) in the charging case.* Need to recharge even faster? 10 minutes on a USB type-C charging cable will give you another three hours of playtime. (*with ANC off)
- JBL Headphones app: Select the EQ that fits your style or customize your own. Voice Prompts in multiple languages give you useful information (e.g.if battery is running low). Or chill out and recharge in Relax Mode by choosing one of five peaceful sounds.
JBL also claims that a 10-minute USB-C charge provides up to four hours of playback, and lists Qi wireless charging. The quick-charge figure is a manufacturer claim and should be understood as a rated maximum, not a guarantee for every listening setup.
What are the key specifications?

| Frequency response | 20 Hz–40 kHz |
| Bluetooth | 6.0 |

| Playback with case | Up to 48 hours total with ANC off |

How comfortable are they to wear?
Both Tom’s Guide and TechRadar reviewers described the earbuds as comfortable. The Beam 4 uses an in-ear sealed fit, so comfort and stability will vary with ear shape and tip choice. The included tip sizes offer options, but no single fit works for everyone.

Should you buy the JBL Live Beam 4?
Consider the Live Beam 4 if you want an energetic sound profile, a sealed in-ear design, extensive controls built into the charging case and long manufacturer-rated battery life. The case is especially appealing if you often want to change settings without opening an app.
Look elsewhere if your priorities are the strongest possible noise cancellation, consistently excellent call performance, convincing spatial audio or a compact case. The reviews are positive about sound and comfort overall, but those specific trade-offs are worth weighing against the current local price.
