What the Jané Epic is—and what the rating means
The Epic is a Jané four-wheel stroller or pram. The available reviews refer to versions from around 2014 to 2016, so “Jané Epic” does not identify one uniform specification. ProductReview.com.au currently marks the model discontinued and displays 3.6 out of 5 from 25 reviews. The figure is the page’s aggregate at the time it was accessed in 2026; it is not a controlled product test, and the individual reviews shown are mostly from 2015–2016. Positive reports focus on everyday convenience. A 2015 reviewer at Mum’s Thumbs Up praised the aluminum chassis, compact folding, one-hand turning, adjustable handle height and reversible seat. The reviewer also said the seat could fold without being removed and described the stroller as light and portable. These are one owner’s observations, not independent measurements. Reported drawbacks and safety checks
Older ProductReview.com.au accounts mention front wheels that wobble or catch, as well as brake concerns. These are anecdotal reports; they do not establish how common the problems are, prove a model-wide defect or confirm that suggested adjustments resolved them. Since a used stroller’s current condition is decisive, test its wheels and brakes in person and seek qualified servicing if anything is uncertain.
- Front wheels: Check for wobble, catching, smooth turning and reliable locking.
- Brakes: Confirm they engage and release cleanly, and that the stroller stays put when the brakes are on.
- Frame and seat: Look for instability, damage or loose connections; verify that the seat attaches securely.
- Fold: Operate the folding mechanism and confirm it locks as expected.
- Fabric and canopy: Check condition and whether the canopy provides enough coverage for your needs.
- Accessories: Confirm the exact accessory model and compatibility with the stroller’s year/version rather than relying on a seller’s general claim.
These are practical checks prompted by reported issues, not a published inspection protocol or guarantee of safety.

How the Matrix Light 2 configuration changes the experience
The named travel-system pairing in the reviewed material is the Jané Matrix Light 2. A 2021 owner review praised the carrycot mattress comfort but described the unit as heavy and difficult to handle; the reviewer also found the seat configuration less maneuverable. She reported limited canopy coverage and inconvenient basket access, and said she resold the set after a short time. Is the Jané Epic suitable for running?
No. In a dated ProductReview.com.au response, a Brandstyle representative said the Epic was not designed for running and advised locking the front wheels if moving faster than a quick walk. This is a historical company-representative comment, not a current manual or safety notice, but it is clear that the Epic should not be treated as a jogging stroller. - Model year or version, if the seller can verify it.
- Seat-only setup versus a Matrix Light 2 or another accessory configuration.
- Whether the seat stays attached during folding and the folded dimensions, measured for that specific stroller.
- Condition and operation of the wheels, wheel locks, brakes, frame, seat attachment and fold.
- Canopy coverage, basket access, fabric condition and included accessories.
- Confirmed fit of each accessory for the exact version—not just a claim that it is “for a Jané.”
A historical Australian recommended retail price of A$849 was reported by Mum’s Thumbs Up in 2015. It is a launch-era figure, not a current price benchmark; the sources do not establish present availability or pricing.
Verdict: a used option only after careful inspection
The Epic’s reported strengths—compact folding, maneuverability and reversible seating—may appeal if you find a well-maintained example in the configuration you need. But the old, mixed owner reports and discontinued status make condition and version verification essential. Do not buy on the model name or rating alone, and do not use it for running. The reviewed sources do not establish current manufacturer specifications, recalls or safety notices, parts availability, or compatibility for every version.
