For this specific matchup, the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is the better choice when portability is your priority; the BLUETTI AC180 is the stronger option when you need more continuous AC power or higher solar-input capacity. Jackery lists its station at about 23.8 pounds, while BLUETTI lists the AC180 at 35.3 pounds. The AC180 is rated for 1,800 watts of continuous AC output versus 1,500 watts for the Jackery, and accepts up to 500 watts of solar input versus 400 watts.

This is a model-to-model comparison, not a brand-wide verdict. Both companies sell power stations with different capacities, outlets, batteries and regional configurations. The recommendations below apply to the US versions of the Explorer 1000 v2 and AC180 whose specifications are listed in the cited 2026 product information.

The short answer

Choose the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 if you will regularly move the station between a car, campsite, workshop and home, and your appliances stay within its 1,500-watt continuous AC rating. Its roughly 23.8-pound weight is the decisive practical advantage in this pairing. Jackery also publishes a UPS switchover figure of within 20 milliseconds for the UPS setup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the BLUETTI AC180 if your equipment benefits from a higher continuous inverter rating, you want a 500-watt maximum solar-input ceiling, and carrying 35.3 pounds is acceptable. Its 1,800-watt AC rating gives more headroom for demanding loads, but it does not turn every motor or compressor into a guaranteed compatible load.

Do not select on watt-hours alone. The stations are in the same general capacity class, and actual runtime depends on the load, inverter losses, duty cycle, temperature and usable-energy limits.

What is actually being compared?

The comparison is between the current US Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 (also sold as a Solar Generator 1000 v2 in certain configurations) and the US BLUETTI AC180. Jackery lists 1,070 watt-hours of rated capacity; BLUETTI lists 1,152 watt-hours. Those are nominal battery figures, not promises that an AC appliance will receive every watt-hour.

Both use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells. Their published cycle-life statements use different capacity-retention endpoints, so the raw cycle counts cannot be ranked as if they were the same test.

Portability: the largest everyday difference

A difference of about 11.5 pounds changes how you use a power station. At 23.8 pounds, the Explorer 1000 v2 is easier to lift from a vehicle, carry to a tent or move around a house. The 35.3-pound AC180 is still portable, but many users will prefer to carry it shorter distances or with both hands.

Think about the full route rather than the word “portable.” If the station will remain beside a refrigerator during an outage, weight may barely matter. If it will travel to a campsite every weekend, the lighter Jackery can save effort each trip. Handles, cable storage, panel setup and the distance from the vehicle to the load also affect the practical difference.

Portability can also affect whether you use solar consistently. A station that is easy to reposition can follow shade during the day or move closer to a panel array. Conversely, a heavier unit may be perfectly practical when it is installed once in a garage, cabin or emergency-power corner. Decide where the station will live most of the time and how often you will lift it before treating the weight difference as a minor specification.

AC output: match the inverter to the appliance

Continuous loads

Jackery rates the Explorer 1000 v2 at 1,500 watts of AC output. BLUETTI rates the AC180 at 1,800 watts total. Use the continuous rating for an appliance’s ordinary operating draw, not its advertised peak or a short-duration boost mode.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The extra 300 watts on the AC180 can matter when several devices run together or when one device has a high normal draw. Add the running wattage of everything you intend to power and leave operating margin. A station that is close to its limit may shut down when another load starts, even if the arithmetic appears to fit.

Make a load list before shopping. Separate always-on items, intermittent items and items that will never run together. A modem, lights and a laptop may be a modest combined load, while a kettle, heater or cooking appliance can consume much of the available inverter capacity by itself. The larger AC180 rating is useful only if your real equipment needs that extra headroom.

Starting loads and surge claims

Refrigerators, freezers, pumps, compressors, power tools and some heating equipment can demand substantially more power at startup. Jackery lists a 3,000-watt peak for the Explorer 1000 v2. An independent comparison reports 2,700 watts for the AC180, but that is not a directly equivalent manufacturer-to-manufacturer source comparison.

Before buying, look up the starting requirement in the appliance documentation and compare it with the exact station manual. A peak figure is not permission to operate continuously at that wattage. If an appliance has no reliable startup specification, test it cautiously only when you can tolerate a shutdown; do not treat a successful start on one occasion as a guaranteed operating envelope.

Can either station run an air conditioner or microwave?

There is no universal yes or no. Identify the appliance’s running wattage, startup surge and duty cycle, then compare those figures with the station’s continuous and peak limits. A small, efficient appliance may fit while a larger model does not. A microwave’s input rating, rather than the rounded cooking-power number, is the relevant electrical figure. Air conditioners add compressor startup demand and may cycle on and off, so their average consumption is not enough to establish compatibility.

Solar charging and panel compatibility

The AC180 has a 500-watt maximum solar-input rating; the Explorer 1000 v2 is listed at 400 watts. A higher ceiling can reduce charging time when suitable panels and strong sunlight are available, but it is not a promised charging rate. Panel orientation, shading, temperature, cable losses, electrical limits and the station’s charge state all change actual input.

Solar input is best viewed as a ceiling for compatible equipment, not as a guarantee that the battery will receive that number. A nominally 400-watt array can produce substantially less in haze, cloud, shade or poor alignment. Before paying for extra panels, check whether your location and daily schedule will provide enough direct sun to use the added input capacity.

Using a SolarSaga 200W bundle with the Jackery

Jackery lists a SolarSaga 200W bundle for the Explorer 1000 v2 in one configuration. A 200-watt panel does not exceed the station’s 400-watt input ceiling, but you still need to confirm the connector, voltage and included accessories for the exact bundle and region.

Jackery’s panel-connection limits

Jackery’s Explorer 1000 V2 FAQ says its two DC inputs are parallel. It says not to mix different panel wattages at the same time, and it does not support three panels. Four panels require identical models and a specific connection arrangement described by Jackery. Follow that guidance instead of combining whatever panels happen to be available; incompatible voltage or current can prevent charging or create a safety issue.

For either station, treat the manufacturer’s maximum input as an electrical limit, not as a daily energy forecast. A 500-watt array can produce far less than 500 watts under cloud, shade, poor angle or high temperature.

Battery chemistry, cycle life and expected service

LiFePO4 chemistry is used in both models and is generally selected for durability and thermal stability in portable power applications. The published longevity figures need careful reading:

  • Jackery states 4,000 cycles to 70% or more remaining capacity.
  • BLUETTI states 3,500 or more cycles to 80% of original capacity.

Because one statement ends at 70% capacity and the other at 80%, the counts are not an apples-to-apples endurance contest. Neither figure establishes a guaranteed number of years for your use pattern. The manufacturer page for Jackery uses the marketing line, “Long-lasting LiFePO₄ cells ensure 10+ years (4,000 charge cycles) backed up by a 5-year warranty.” That is Jackery’s claim, not an independently validated life-expectancy measurement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

High temperatures, storing the battery empty, leaving it at a full charge for long periods and repeatedly operating at the inverter limit can affect real-world aging. Follow the current manual’s storage and charging instructions for the exact unit.

UPS and outage use

Jackery’s Explorer 1000 V2 Basic Information FAQ describes battery switchover within 20 milliseconds when the station is configured as a UPS. That is useful for many household electronics, but it is not the same as a certified online UPS for every sensitive device.

The reviewed US AC180 product page does not publish a directly comparable switchover figure. You should therefore avoid assuming that both stations provide identical backup behavior. If the station will protect a desktop computer, networking equipment, medical device or storage system, check the exact manual and the equipment maker’s requirements before relying on it during an outage.

UPS mode also changes how you should think about placement. Leave ventilation around the station, keep the AC cable routed safely and avoid connecting loads that approach the inverter limit continuously. For medical equipment or other safety-critical devices, use the equipment manufacturer’s approved backup solution unless compatibility with the exact station is explicitly confirmed.

Runtime: how to estimate it without misleading precision

The rated 1,070Wh and 1,152Wh values let you compare battery size, but they do not answer “How many hours will my device run?” by themselves. A useful estimate starts with the device’s measured electrical draw and then accounts for conversion losses and operating pattern.

  1. Measure or obtain the device’s actual input wattage while operating. Use the electrical input figure, not a marketing output rating.
  2. Determine whether the device runs continuously or cycles. A refrigerator, pump or air conditioner may operate only part of each hour.
  3. Choose the correct output path. AC operation uses the inverter; DC or USB operation may avoid some conversion losses.
  4. Use the station’s usable-energy information from its manual or app when available. Do not assume the entire nameplate watt-hour figure is available at the outlet.
  5. Keep reserve capacity for startup events and unexpected loads. Stop the estimate if the appliance’s starting requirement exceeds the station’s published limit.

For a simple planning calculation, multiply measured watts by the number of hours you expect the device to operate, then allow for inverter and battery losses. For cycling appliances, use measured energy over a representative period rather than multiplying the compressor’s nameplate wattage by 24 hours. This approach is more useful than quoting a single universal runtime for a refrigerator, microwave or air conditioner.

A controlled, matched runtime test for these two models is not established by the manufacturer pages cited here. Treat online runtime numbers, including those in secondary comparisons, as scenario-specific unless they state the load, mode, temperature and test method.

Price, bundles and regional details

Prices and package contents change. The reviewed BLUETTI US listing displayed $499 at access time in 2026. Jackery showed different prices for standalone and solar-bundle configurations. Those snapshots are not permanent prices, and a bundle can change the value calculation by including a panel or different accessories.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Compare like with like: standalone station against standalone station, or a bundle that includes a SolarSaga 200W panel against a BLUETTI package with its own included accessories. A lower headline price may omit a solar cable, adapter or panel that you would otherwise need to buy separately.

Check the exact seller page immediately before purchase for the region, model suffix, outlet voltage, cables, solar connectors, return policy and warranty registration requirements. The reviewed BLUETTI US listing specifies four 120-volt outlets; international versions can show different outlet arrangements and voltages. Do not use a US specification sheet to plan an installation in another country.

A practical pre-purchase checklist

  1. List every appliance you expect to run and record its running and startup wattage.
  2. Decide whether you will carry the station often enough for the 11.5-pound weight difference to matter.
  3. Choose AC, USB or DC operation for each device and account for inverter losses where applicable.
  4. For solar, total the panel wattage, verify voltage and connectors, and stay below the station’s input ceiling.
  5. Read the exact regional manual for UPS behavior, panel wiring and operating temperature.
  6. Compare the final configuration price, included accessories and warranty terms—not just the bare station price.
  7. Plan storage: keep the unit in the temperature and charge condition specified by the manufacturer, away from moisture and excessive heat.

Bottom line

The Explorer 1000 v2 wins this matchup for frequent carrying and lighter-duty AC loads. The AC180 wins when its 1,800-watt inverter and 500-watt solar ceiling solve a specific need and its extra weight is acceptable. Capacity is close enough that it should not decide the purchase by itself; your appliance loads, transport routine, solar plan and local warranty terms should.

Can I run a microwave or air conditioner from either station?

Possibly, but there is no universal yes. Compare the appliance’s electrical input, startup surge and duty cycle with the station’s continuous and peak limits. A microwave’s input rating and an air conditioner’s compressor-start demand are especially important.

How many hours will a device run?

You need the device’s measured wattage, operating schedule and output type. Estimate energy use from actual watts and hours, then allow for inverter losses and reserve capacity. The 1,070Wh and 1,152Wh nameplate figures are not guaranteed delivered runtime.

Which station is better for solar charging?

The AC180 has the higher listed maximum solar input, 500 watts versus 400 watts for the Jackery. That is an input ceiling, not a guaranteed charging rate. Sunlight, panel orientation, shading, temperature and electrical compatibility determine actual power.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are the battery-life claims directly comparable?

No. Jackery states 4,000 cycles to at least 70% capacity, while BLUETTI states 3,500-plus cycles to 80% of original capacity. Because the remaining-capacity thresholds differ, the raw cycle counts do not establish a definitive winner.

Does the Jackery work as a UPS?

Jackery’s Explorer 1000 V2 FAQ describes battery switchover within 20 milliseconds in UPS setup. The reviewed AC180 page does not provide a directly matched switching figure, so verify the exact manual and your equipment’s requirements before relying on either unit for sensitive loads.

Do US and international versions have the same outlets?

Not necessarily. The reviewed US AC180 listing specifies four 120-volt outlets, while international configurations can use different outlet arrangements and voltages. Confirm the regional model, cables and warranty before ordering.

The Bottom Line

Choose the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 for easier carrying and loads within 1,500 watts; choose the BLUETTI AC180 for its 1,800-watt inverter and 500-watt solar-input ceiling. These are model-specific recommendations. Verify startup loads, regional specifications, bundle contents, current price and warranty terms before buying.
