Ducting carries extracted air outside through a duct. The WRH608IS has a top duct outlet; CHOICE lists 125 mm as the recommended duct diameter. A suitable duct route and correct installation matter, so confirm dimensions and clearances in the manual rather than relying on a retailer summary.

Recirculation
Yes, the WRH608IS can recirculate when exterior ducting is not possible. In that configuration, air passes through suitable carbon filters before returning to the room. Westinghouse recommends carbon filters, and its parts shop lists the ULX251 activated-carbon two-pack as compatible with this model: ULX251 carbon filters for WRH608IS. They are for recirculation, not a requirement for ducted use.
CHOICE says two carbon filters are needed for recirculation and gives a replacement interval of every 1–6 months. Its page displays an annual carbon-filter cost estimate of $200; treat that as CHOICE’s estimate, not a current quote, since prices and replacement needs can change. CHOICE labels its filter code ARCFD, while Westinghouse’s parts shop identifies ULX251 as compatible. Check the model and part information for your specific unit before ordering. How does it operate and what upkeep does it need?
The front trim slides out to operate the rangehood. Westinghouse says the light and fan speed are activated by sliding the trim forward; the controls are described as pull/push auto-activated. The grease filters are removable and washable, so routine cleaning does not require replacing those metal filters.
For recirculation, add carbon-filter replacement to ongoing maintenance. The manufacturer’s user manual is the appropriate source for removal, cleaning and installation instructions; the accessible product information does not establish the full installation procedure or exactly which accessories come in the box.

What do the independent listings establish?
CHOICE has separate ducted and recirculating listings and marks the WRH608IS as discontinued. Its public recirculating page shows a 52% recirculating-mode score, but this is a mode score, not an overall product rating. Other test scores and metrics are member-only in the listings, so their visible information does not establish the model’s detailed extraction, noise or ease-of-use test results.
CHOICE’s ducted page displays a product price of $319, but this is not a current quote. A retailer listing supplies specifications and describes ducted or top-recirculated setups using accessory kits, but it does not confirm current stock. For example, Appliances Online’s listing should be treated as product information, not proof of availability.

Who should consider the WRH608IS?
It may suit a kitchen that needs a 600 mm slide-out format and can accommodate its dimensions. Decide on the extraction route first: ducting avoids the recirculation carbon-filter replacement cycle, while recirculation offers an option where outside venting is unavailable but requires compatible filters. The published 400 m³/h airflow and noise figures are useful specification points, not evidence that it will outperform another rangehood.
Before choosing one, compare the cabinet fit and slide-out clearance, the feasibility of a 125 mm duct or recirculation accessory, grease-filter cleaning, carbon-filter upkeep if applicable, lighting, warranty and confirmed availability. Because the model is listed as discontinued, verify stock and parts supply with the seller before committing.
