The Suparest Affinity is a firm-feel, innerspring mattress sold in Australia through Harvey Norman. CHOICE’s published review summary is unfavorable overall: it gives the reviewed double a 66% Expert Rating and reports pronounced bounce, weak stability and fluid absorption. Its scores also show higher support after simulated long-term use than when new, so the overall rating needs context. Before comparing prices or specifications, check that the mattress you are considering is the same size and model version CHOICE reviewed.
What is the Suparest Affinity?
Harvey Norman describes the Suparest Affinity range as an Australian-made, entry-level innerspring mattress exclusive to its stores. The retailer calls it firm and lists a Contour Coil 3 Zone Support system, comfort foam and Fibre Guard comfort layers, and a stretch-knit cover. These are retailer-provided descriptions, not independent findings about comfort or performance. The listed sizes are single, long single, king single, double, queen and king.
CHOICE’s public product page identifies its reviewed item as a double spring mattress with a claimed firm feel and Bonnell spring core. The specifications on that page differ from Harvey Norman’s current double listing, so the two sets of details should not be treated as interchangeable.
| Detail | CHOICE reviewed double | Harvey Norman current listing |
|---|---|---|
| Support system | Bonnell spring core; 125 springs per square metre (CHOICE product specification) | Contour Coil 3 Zone Support system (retailer description) |
| Layers | 10 (CHOICE product specification) | Comfort foam and Fibre Guard comfort layers; total layer count not stated in the retailer listing |
| Weight | 22 kg (CHOICE product specification) | 24 kg for the double (retailer listing) |
| Thickness | 22.5 cm (CHOICE product specification) | 22 cm for the double (retailer listing) |
| Double dimensions | 188 × 137 × 22.5 cm (CHOICE product specification) | Not stated here; confirm the selected size on the retailer listing |
| Price shown | A$599; A$549 after sale or bargaining, according to CHOICE’s public product page | A$599 for the double; the broad range page displayed prices from A$449 across size selections |
The available information does not establish whether these differences reflect a variant, a changed product, or a listing discrepancy. Verify the exact product code and size with the retailer before relying on either set of specifications. Prices are page snapshots, not guarantees; availability, delivery charges and final price can depend on location and change over time.

What did CHOICE find in its review?
In its “Mattresses to avoid buying” article, last updated 11 September 2026, CHOICE lists the Suparest Affinity with a 66% Expert Rating. CHOICE reports 53% support when new and 88% support after eight years. These are separate support scores, not a single durability score: the public summary does not provide the complete Affinity scorecard or establish all the factors behind the overall rating.
CHOICE describes the mattress as uncomfortable and very bouncy, says it absorbed sweat or fluid, and reports that—apart from another model named in its article—the Affinity had the lowest stability score among the mattresses tested. CHOICE also notes the reviewed double’s 22 kg weight as an advantage for portability. These are CHOICE’s findings, not independent testing by this publication.

How to read the support figures
CHOICE’s comparison-methodology page says its mattress assessment considers comfort and support for back and side sleeping, comfort retention after simulated use, stabilisation, sagging, sweat repellence, and usage wear or damage. It describes 30,000 rolling cycles as simulating approximately eight years of use. That context helps explain why the new and simulated-use support figures are different measures. The public information does not provide the full model-specific protocol or detailed Affinity sub-scores, so the figures should not be taken as a complete account of performance in every sleep position or over time.

Who might want to consider it—and who should be cautious?
The retailer’s firm-feel label may make the Affinity worth considering for someone specifically shopping for a firm innerspring mattress, but a label does not establish whether it will feel comfortable to a particular sleeper. CHOICE’s published findings give several reasons to be cautious, especially for buyers who value a stable, less bouncy sleep surface or are concerned about moisture handling.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- If you share a bed: CHOICE’s report of pronounced bounce and weak stability is relevant if a partner’s movement tends to wake you.
- If you sleep on your back or side: CHOICE says its comparison considers both positions, but the public summary does not show a full position-by-position Affinity score. Try to assess fit using your own preferred sleeping position and any applicable retailer terms.
- If you need to move the mattress: CHOICE identifies the reviewed double’s 22 kg weight as a portability advantage. Confirm the weight of the exact size you plan to buy.
- If moisture handling matters: CHOICE reports fluid absorption and includes sweat repellence in its general testing criteria; the public summary does not supply a model-specific quantitative result.
What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the exact mattress. Match the size and product code on the retailer listing or sales paperwork. CHOICE’s specifications are for a double, and they differ from the current retailer’s double listing.
- Compare the full delivered price. Check the selected size, delivery cost and local availability. The displayed A$449 starting price applies across size selections on the broad listing snapshot, not necessarily to the double or to a current offer.
- Read the warranty and return terms. Harvey Norman lists a 60-month manufacturer express warranty. The available listing does not establish a trial period or free exchange, so check the current written terms rather than assuming either is included.
- Judge feel against your needs. Compare the retailer’s firm designation with your comfort preferences, sleep position and sensitivity to partner movement. An aggregate rating cannot determine individual fit.
Verdict
The Suparest Affinity’s published CHOICE results raise meaningful concerns about initial support, bounce, stability and fluid absorption, despite a higher reported support score after simulated use. It may suit a buyer seeking a firm-feel innerspring mattress, but the public evidence does not establish personal comfort or resolve the mismatch between CHOICE’s reviewed double and the retailer’s current specifications. Confirm the exact model and purchase terms, and weigh CHOICE’s findings carefully if stability or moisture performance is a priority.
