The Shark PowerDetect IP3251 pairs a cordless vacuum with a dock that charges the machine and automatically empties its dust cup. Independent editorial coverage reports strong cleaning across floor types, but also notes weight and bulk as handling drawbacks. It may suit homes that value reduced bin-emptying and cordless convenience; it is a less obvious fit if you need a lightweight vacuum, have little room for a dock, or expect the advertised maximum runtime to cover every cleaning session.
What comes with the Shark IP3251?
SharkNinja identifies IP3251 as the PowerDetect Cordless Vacuum Clean & Empty System: a cordless vacuum bundled with an auto-empty dock that also charges it. The dock is designed to reduce routine dust-cup emptying, but it adds a fixed storage footprint. Shark says it holds up to 45 days of dirt and debris; that is a maximum manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed interval, since household debris volume and type affect how quickly it fills. SharkNinja’s product page lists a 0.7-quart vacuum dust cup, one 21.6-volt battery, and a six-hour charge time.
How well does it clean different floors?
Shark describes the nozzle as DuoClean Detect, with a dual-brushroll system, forward and reverse debris pickup, and dirt-detecting intelligence. It also describes the MultiFlex wand as a way to reach under furniture and fold the vacuum for storage. These are manufacturer feature descriptions, not independent measurements of the IP3251 bundle.
Independent editorial coverage is encouraging on floor performance, with an important model distinction: TechRadar’s review tested the standalone PowerDetect Cordless and says its vacuum performance is the same as the Clean & Empty version. It reports strong results across floor types, while flagging weight, bulk, and comfort as compromises. Homes & Gardens’ coverage also describes strong performance on hard surfaces and carpets and notes the flexible wand and odor-neutralizer feature; it is buying-guide context, not a controlled test of every IP3251 package or regional variant.

Together, these reports suggest the vacuum may be worth considering for a home with a mix of hard floors and carpets, but they do not establish exact-model results for every configuration or a numerical ranking against competitors.
What does the runtime claim mean in practice?
Shark advertises up to 70 minutes of runtime and attaches test and mode qualifications to its runtime and suction claims. Treat 70 minutes as a qualified manufacturer maximum, not a promise that the vacuum will clean a whole home for that long in your chosen mode. The available evidence does not establish an independent battery test of this exact IP3251 bundle. Consider the area you clean, the floor types, and the mode you expect to use; also allow for the listed six-hour charge time between uses if you need a full recharge.

Will the dock and handling suit your home?
- Consider it if: you want a cordless vacuum and prefer the dock to handle routine dust-cup emptying, and you have a suitable place to keep the dock.
- Think carefully if: carrying and maneuvering a heavier or bulkier vacuum is a concern. TechRadar flags weight, bulk, and comfort as compromises in its standalone-model review.
- Check access and storage: the MultiFlex wand is intended to help reach under furniture and fold for storage, but the dock still requires a fixed place. Measure the space you plan to use rather than assuming the folding wand makes the full system compact.
- Match it to cleaning duration: the maximum runtime is not guaranteed across modes or floor types, so a long session may require charging before the next use.
What maintenance should you expect?
Shark lists felt and washable foam pre-motor filters and a post-motor HEPA filter. Its support site lists an IP3251 product manual dated May 6, 2026. Follow that model’s instructions for setup, care, and safety rather than relying on generic vacuum-cleaner advice. The product information does not establish replacement filter part numbers or compatibility across regional IP3251 suffixes, so verify the exact model and region with Shark before buying replacement filters. Shark also identifies odor-neutralizer technology, but the available product information does not verify a replacement cartridge part number.
