No—Samsung no longer presents the Galaxy Note as a current product line in the United States. Samsung’s US Galaxy Note20 page says “Galaxy Note is gone,” shows the Note20 as sold out, and identifies the Galaxy S25 Ultra as the new home for a built-in S Pen. That answers the new-phone question for Samsung’s US storefront; it does not rule out used or refurbished Note devices sold independently.

What happened to Samsung’s Galaxy Note?

The Galaxy Note has been discontinued as an active Samsung-branded phone series in the United States. Samsung’s current US product page uses unusually direct language: “Galaxy Note is gone, but its signature built-in S Pen is back and better than ever in the new Galaxy S25 Ultra.” The same page marks the Galaxy Note20 as sold out.

That wording distinguishes two things that are easy to confuse. The Note name and product line are no longer being presented as current US releases, while the defining hardware idea—a large phone with a pen stored inside the chassis—continues in another Galaxy model. Samsung has moved the built-in S Pen concept rather than maintaining a separate Note-branded range.

The conclusion is specific to Samsung’s US storefront and support material. It does not prove that every country has identical inventory, nor does it prevent independent retailers from carrying used, refurbished, or old new-in-box Note phones.

What was the last Samsung Note phone?

Samsung’s US newsroom announcement from 2020 introduced the Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 Ultra as that year’s Note series. Those models are therefore the final Note generation identified by the official sources used here. It is more precise to call them the latest Note generation surfaced by Samsung’s official US materials than to claim that every market received exactly the same final model or release timing.

Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra

The 2020 announcement treated the Note20 and Note20 Ultra as members of one release family. Both were designed around the integrated S Pen that made the Note name recognizable. Samsung has not supplied, in the material considered here, a later Note-branded successor announcement.

Does “sold out” mean Samsung still makes it?

No. A sold-out listing indicates that the product is unavailable through that storefront; it is not evidence of ongoing production. Samsung’s additional “Galaxy Note is gone” wording makes the broader status clear for its US product lineup. A third-party seller can still have inventory even after the manufacturer stops offering the device.

What replaced the Galaxy Note?

Samsung points customers who want a current phone with a built-in S Pen to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This is Samsung’s own replacement framing, not an independent ranking of every large-screen phone or stylus device on the market.

The practical change is that a buyer seeking Samsung’s integrated pen experience now starts with the Ultra line rather than a Note model. The pen remains stored in the phone, so there is no separate accessory to remember when traveling or moving between meetings. However, a newer S Pen phone should not be assumed to reproduce every Note-era feature exactly. Pen functions, wireless controls, software behavior, and supported gestures can differ by phone and by the specific pen in use.

What Samsung has not established

The official pages confirm the product-line status and Samsung’s choice of replacement device. They do not establish one definitive business or engineering reason for ending Note-branded releases. Possible explanations are often discussed publicly, but attributing the decision to a single cause would go beyond the evidence available here.

Can you still buy a Galaxy Note?

You may still find a Note phone, but the buying route is different from purchasing a current Samsung model directly. Samsung’s US page shows the Note20 as sold out, so an interested buyer would need to consider independent used or refurbished inventory.

What to check on a used or refurbished Note

  • Condition: Ask whether the phone is used, manufacturer-refurbished, or seller-refurbished, and read the grading definition rather than relying on a headline such as “excellent.”
  • Warranty and returns: Confirm the warranty issuer, length, exclusions, and return window. A seller warranty is not the same as Samsung’s original coverage.
  • Carrier compatibility: Verify the exact model number, supported network bands, eSIM or physical-SIM configuration, and whether the device is carrier-locked.
  • Account status: Make sure the device is not reported lost or stolen and that the previous owner has removed activation locks and accounts.
  • Battery and accessories: Ask about battery health and whether the original S Pen is included. A missing pen changes the practical value of a Note because storage and calibration are part of the design.
  • Software support: Check the phone’s current update status and understand that an older model may have a shorter remaining support life than a newly released device. The sources reviewed here do not establish a current end date for Note20 updates.

These checks matter more for a Note purchase than the product name alone. A low price can be offset by a worn battery, an incompatible carrier variant, absent accessories, or limited recourse if the phone fails.

Which S Pen works with older Note phones?

Samsung lists its S Pen Pro as compatible with the Galaxy Note10, Note10+, Note20, and Note20 Ultra. The support material identifies writing and Bluetooth support for the listed devices, but it also warns that available functions vary by phone and pen.

Phone S Pen Pro compatibility listed by Samsung Important qualification
Galaxy Note10 Yes Features depend on the phone and pen combination.
Galaxy Note10+ Yes Verify the functions you need before buying.
Galaxy Note20 Yes Writing and Bluetooth are listed; other functions may vary.
Galaxy Note20 Ultra Yes Verify exact feature support for the intended use.

Compatibility does not mean that every S Pen feature works identically across those models. Samsung’s support guidance gives Air Actions as an example of a feature that is not universal; the reviewed article says Air Actions are not supported for some combinations, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra with the relevant pen setup. Treat the pen model and the phone model as a pair, and check the specific functions you care about—such as remote controls, Bluetooth behavior, or gesture support—before ordering.

Built-in Note pen versus S Pen Pro

A Note phone’s original pen is designed to fit its internal silo. The S Pen Pro is a separate accessory, so it can be useful when a compatible phone’s original pen is lost, but it does not turn every Galaxy phone into a Note. It also has its own feature limitations and must be matched to the device’s supported functions.

New S Pen phone or used Note: how should you decide?

The right choice depends less on the word “Note” and more on which compromises you accept. Use this comparison as a decision framework rather than as a full specification review; the official material considered here does not provide a complete current price or performance comparison.

Availability Samsung identifies the Galaxy S25 Ultra as the current built-in-S-Pen destination in the US. Note20 is sold out on Samsung’s US storefront; independent inventory may exist.
Condition Purchased new through the current product channel. Condition ranges from used to refurbished; inspect grading and battery health.
Pen storage Built-in S Pen storage remains part of Samsung’s replacement framing. Built-in storage is a defining Note feature, but confirm that the original pen is included and works.
Pen features Check the exact phone-and-pen combination; some Air Actions are not supported on certain models. S Pen Pro is listed for Note10, Note10+, Note20, and Note20 Ultra, with feature variation by device.
Warranty Review the current seller’s warranty and return terms. Coverage depends on the independent seller and may be limited or absent.
Network fit Confirm the variant and carrier requirements before purchase. Check model number, carrier lock, network compatibility, and activation status carefully.
Software outlook A newer phone generally starts with a longer remaining support window, but the exact policy was not established in the reviewed sources. Do not assume a specific remaining update period; verify the device’s current support status.

Choose the newer model when

  • You want to buy directly through Samsung’s current US phone lineup.
  • You prefer new-device warranty coverage and lower uncertainty about battery condition.
  • You need an integrated pen but do not require the Note name.
  • You want to avoid checking used inventory, carrier locks, and refurbishment quality.

Choose a used Note when

  • The Note’s shape, software history, or price matters more than having the newest hardware.
  • You find a seller with clear grading, a credible warranty, and a return policy.
  • You have verified the exact model’s carrier compatibility and update status.
  • You specifically want a Note20 or Note20 Ultra and accept that Samsung no longer sells it directly in the US.

What does the discontinuation mean for current Note owners?

Existing owners can continue using their phones, and Samsung’s compatibility documentation provides a path to replace a missing or damaged pen with an S Pen Pro for the Note10 family and Note20 family listed above. The accessory is not a guarantee of identical functionality, so confirm the desired features before purchase.

Owners should also separate hardware availability from software support. A phone can remain usable after it disappears from Samsung’s store, but the length of future security or operating-system support depends on Samsung’s model-specific policies. The official status and compatibility pages considered here do not provide a current end-of-support date for the Note20, so that date should not be guessed.

What the official evidence says—and what it does not

Samsung’s materials support four firm conclusions: the US page describes the Note line as gone; the Note20 is sold out there; Samsung’s 2020 announcement introduced the Note20 and Note20 Ultra as that year’s Note series; and Samsung now directs buyers seeking a built-in S Pen toward the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

They do not establish worldwide stock conditions, every retailer’s inventory, a definitive corporate reason for ending the Note name, current merchant prices, or a universal software-support deadline. Keeping those boundaries clear prevents a US storefront statement from being misread as a claim about every market or every remaining device.

Bottom line for shoppers

If your question is whether Samsung still makes and sells new Note phones in the United States, the practical answer is no. The Note20 is the last Note generation identified in Samsung’s official US materials, and Samsung’s current built-in-pen path is the Galaxy S25 Ultra. A used Note can still be sensible for a buyer who accepts older hardware and seller-dependent warranty and software conditions; anyone buying an S Pen Pro should verify the exact phone, pen features, and compatibility before paying.
