The Russell Hobbs Brooklyn RHAF57 is a 5.7L single-basket air fryer with a touchscreen, seven food presets and adjustable manual mode. CHOICE gives it a 77% Expert Rating, but its public listing does not reveal the cooking-test results behind that score. That makes it possible to assess the model’s features and fit, but not to claim how crisp, even or fast it is in everyday cooking.
What the RHAF57 offers
Russell Hobbs also calls this model the SatisFry Brooklyn 5.7L. Its removable crisping plate sits inside a single basket, and the controls use a digital touchscreen. The manufacturer lists seven automatic functions: chips, chops, prawns, bake, steak, fish and chicken. The official manual also describes a manual mode, with time and temperature adjustable by the user. The manufacturer lists temperature selection up to 200°C; CHOICE gives the broader specification range as 80–200°C.
The presets are starting points rather than fixed programs: the manual says their settings can be changed. As the manual puts it, “The air fryer uses hot air and radiant heat for cooking.”

CHOICE lists a claimed capacity of 5.7L, external dimensions of 33 × 28 × 37cm, weight of 4.6kg and claimed power of 1650W. It classifies the basket as large. Use the external measurements to check counter or cupboard clearance; the stated capacity alone does not tell you how much food fits in a single layer.

CHOICE displays a 77% Expert Rating. The listing also identifies digital touch controls, seven presets and a two-year warranty. However, the individual cooking, ease-of-use and cleaning results are member-only on the public page. The rating therefore does not establish a particular result for chips, chicken or another food, and the available public information is not enough to verify crispness, cooking evenness or home-use speed.
What the maker’s speed and energy claims mean
Russell Hobbs advertises cooking up to 82% faster than a standard embedded electric oven when cooking frozen French fries at 200°C. It also claims up to 48% energy savings compared with a conventional oven. Both are manufacturer comparisons, not independent test findings or promises of the same result for every food, recipe or kitchen.

The manufacturer’s 2024 brochure listed an RRP of $169.95. That is a dated reference price, not a verified current offer. Russell Hobbs’ product page also reports that more than 17,500 voters chose the product for an EatWell Yummies award in 2022; that is a manufacturer-reported vote count, not a cooking-performance test.
Cleaning instructions: follow the manual supplied with your unit
There is a mismatch in the maker’s published cleaning information: the product page calls the crisping plate dishwasher-safe, while the manual directs users to wipe and hand-wash both the basket and plate in warm, soapy water. The manual is the clearer care instruction to follow for the appliance in hand. It does not say that the entire basket is dishwasher-safe.

- Unplug the fryer and let it cool before cleaning; the manual advises cleaning after each use.
- Do not immerse the appliance body, cord or plug in water.
- Insert the basket properly or the appliance will not operate.
- Avoid overfilling so hot air can circulate. High-fat foods may produce smoke as oil residue cooks.
Is the RHAF57 discontinued, and can you still buy it?
CHOICE marks the RHAF57 discontinued in Australia. Russell Hobbs’ New Zealand product page remains live and directs visitors to buying options. These are market-specific signals, not proof that the model is unavailable everywhere or in stock at a particular retailer. Check local listings for current availability and price; neither the 2024 brochure price nor a live product page confirms present stock.

The RHAF57 is a reasonable candidate if you want a single-basket model with a claimed 5.7L capacity, preset shortcuts and the option to adjust time and temperature manually. Its dimensions and weight are useful for checking physical fit, while the public rating provides an overall independent score without enough detail to judge specific cooking outcomes.

Before choosing it over another model, compare disclosed food-test results, usable basket capacity and footprint, control flexibility, cleaning and coating instructions, warranty support in your country, and current local price and stock. The available public evidence does not support ranking the RHAF57 against a specific competitor.
