The Mountain Buggy Duet 3.0 is a full-size side-by-side double stroller with a relatively narrow published width: CHOICE lists it at 65 cm overall, while one retailer lists a 63 cm wheelbase. That may make it easier to navigate some doorways and aisles than a wider double, but you should measure your own tightest access point. At 16.3 kg in CHOICE’s listing, it is not a lightweight stroller.
What the Duet 3.0’s dimensions mean in everyday use
The Duet 3.0’s main appeal is fitting two seats side by side in a narrower footprint than many double strollers. The published figures differ because they refer to different measurements: CHOICE gives an overall width of 65 cm, while retailer Universo Crioh lists the wheelbase at 63 cm. Those numbers are not interchangeable, and neither guarantees passage through a particular doorway, lift, or shop aisle.
Measure the narrowest access point you expect to use, including any door hardware or turns, and compare it with the widest part of the stroller. Also consider the space needed to steer through a turn; a stroller that clears a straight opening may still be awkward in a tight corridor.

Duet 3.0 specifications at a glance
| Specification | Published figure | Source and context |
|---|---|---|
| Overall dimensions | 99 × 65 × 136 cm (H × W × D) | CHOICE’s Duet 3.0 record: CHOICE |
| Wheelbase width | 63 cm | Retailer listing: Universo Crioh |
| Stroller weight | 16.3 kg | CHOICE’s Duet 3.0 record |
| Alternative listed weight | 14.7 kg | Universo Crioh listing; measurement basis is not stated |
| Maximum child weight | 18 kg per seat | CHOICE and Universo Crioh |
| Seat width | 30 cm per seat | Universo Crioh listing |
| Basket capacity | 5 kg | CHOICE’s Duet 3.0 record |
| Historical listed price | A$1,400 | Price shown on CHOICE’s review record; not a current quote |
The weight discrepancy should not be resolved by averaging the two figures. The sources do not establish why they differ, so treat 16.3 kg as CHOICE’s stated weight and 14.7 kg as the retailer’s listing figure. If lifting matters—especially for stairs or a car boot—check the specific stroller and package you are buying.

Seating, capacity, and the newborn question
CHOICE lists a maximum of 18 kg per child, and the retailer gives a seat width of 30 cm. Weight limits alone do not establish whether a child will fit comfortably: consider their height, clothing, and room to sit alongside a sibling. The basket’s CHOICE-listed limit is 5 kg, so it is not a substitute for a larger cargo area.
Universo Crioh describes a Carrycot Plus as an optional configuration. Do not assume it is included with a stroller purchase. Mountain Buggy’s current twins page says Carrycot Plus for twins is compatible with the Duet family, but that current family-level information does not confirm fit for every Duet 3.0 generation or unit. Check the stroller’s exact model, the accessory’s generation, attachment requirements, and the manual for your market before buying or using a newborn setup.

Ride, brakes, and folding claims
The retailer listing describes four 10-inch air-filled tires, suspension, independent seat recline, a hand brake for speed control, a foot-operated parking brake, and a one-hand folding claim. These are retailer-provided product descriptions, not independent performance findings. Tire type and suspension may be relevant if you expect to use varied everyday surfaces, but the listing does not establish how the stroller performs on a particular route or terrain.

Confirm the fold and folded dimensions for the exact version you are considering; the cited specifications do not provide a folded-size measurement. If boot space is limited, measure the available space and check how the stroller must be positioned. A folding claim alone does not tell you whether the folded package will fit your vehicle.

What independent review evidence is available?
CHOICE’s public Duet 3.0 page lists review categories including maneuvering, folding, basket loading, and safety testing. Its expert rating and detailed scores are available to members, not visible on the public page. The presence of those categories is not evidence that the stroller passed particular safety or durability tests, and no public score should be inferred from it.
For an older manual copy, Babies Getaway reproduces the warning: “Accessories or replacement parts that are not approved by the manufacturer or distributor should not be used.” Use the manual for the exact stroller model and market rather than relying on an older copy for setup or compatibility: manual copy hosted by Babies Getaway.

Who should consider it—and who should measure twice?
It may suit
- Families who need two seats side by side and value a narrower overall footprint.
- Twins or siblings close in age, subject to the seating and newborn configuration actually available for the stroller.
- Caregivers who can manage a full-size stroller and want features the retailer describes for varied everyday surfaces.
Measure or verify carefully if
- Your regular route includes narrow doors, lifts, or shop aisles; measure the access point instead of relying on the “narrow” description.
- You often use stairs or need to lift the stroller into a vehicle; CHOICE lists 16.3 kg, while the retailer lists 14.7 kg.
- Your children need more than a 30 cm-wide seat, or you need substantial basket capacity.
- You require a particular newborn setup, rain cover, Joey bag, or other accessory. Check whether it is included, whether it fits your exact generation, and whether the manufacturer approves it.
What to check before buying a used or older Duet 3.0
- Identify the exact version. Confirm that the stroller is a Duet 3.0 and note its market and any model or serial information provided by the seller.
- Measure the places it must fit. Compare your narrowest opening and vehicle boot with the stroller’s actual widest and folded dimensions.
- Check the equipment and condition. Inspect the tires, brakes, suspension, folding mechanism, recline, frame, and harness, and confirm that all required parts are present.
- Verify accessories separately. Ask whether any carrycot or other accessory is included, then confirm generation compatibility and follow the manual for that stroller.
- Consult the correct manual and support information. Mountain Buggy’s support FAQ has operational troubleshooting topics; use product-specific instructions for the exact model rather than assuming current Duet guidance applies unchanged.
Verdict
The Duet 3.0’s strongest practical case is a two-seat, side-by-side layout with a comparatively narrow published width. Its trade-offs are substantial stroller weight, compact individual seats, and the need to verify newborn accessories and exact-version details. It is worth considering if two side-by-side seats are essential, but the decision should turn on measurements, child fit, lifting, and the configuration you can actually obtain—not the narrow-width claim alone.
