IKEA described HIDRASUND as a thick, one-sided pocket-spring mattress made with natural materials, two layers of individually wrapped springs, and five comfort zones. Those details explain its design, but the available sources do not include independent tests of comfort, cooling, motion transfer, or durability—and they do not confirm whether HIDRASUND is still sold in your market.
What kind of mattress was IKEA HIDRASUND?
In its historical product materials, IKEA presented HIDRASUND as a natural-material pocket-spring mattress. Its U.S. spring-mattress guide, dated August 2020, described it as one-sided, with handles and an additional protective cover, and listed a thickness of 17¾ inches. That is a substantial profile, so check bed-frame clearance and fitted-sheet depth if you encounter a listing for this model.
The guide and other IKEA documents describe two layers of individually wrapped pocket springs. IKEA’s buying guide also lists motion isolation as a feature, but the documents provide no measured motion-transfer results. Treat that as a manufacturer-described design feature, not a verified performance finding.

IKEA’s historical descriptions list natural latex, coconut fibre, cotton, wool, and lyocell among the mattress materials. The sources describe coconut fibre at the base as helping ventilation, while the natural-material combination is presented as contributing to an even-temperature sleep environment. These are IKEA’s intended benefits, not independently demonstrated cooling results.

IKEA also describes five comfort zones intended to support the shoulders and hips. Its Bahrain product announcement says the zones are “designed to provide precise support for the shoulders and hips.” This explains the design goal; it does not establish that every sleeper will find the mattress comfortable or receive a particular health or pressure-relief benefit.
What does the evidence say about comfort and performance?
The available evidence is made up of IKEA product descriptions and buying materials, not independent mattress testing. It does not establish how firm HIDRASUND feels in practice, how well it suits different sleeping positions or body types, how effectively it reduces partner disturbance, or how long it lasts. IKEA’s design descriptions may help identify what to look for, but they cannot substitute for a current trial policy or hands-on assessment.

If you find a used mattress or an old listing, evaluate its actual condition and confirm its dimensions, since age and wear can affect performance. For a current mattress purchase, compare verified firmness, construction, material details, return terms, local warranty, price, and availability rather than assuming that another model with similar materials will feel the same.

Is HIDRASUND still available, and what did it cost?
The sources available for this review do not establish whether IKEA currently sells HIDRASUND in any particular market. A 2019 IKEA Poland appendix shows that the model appeared historically in multiple sizes and firmness variants, but that does not establish present-day stock or configurations. Check IKEA’s local site or store for current availability and exact specifications before making plans around the model.

The U.S. IKEA spring-mattress guide from August 2020 listed historical catalogue prices of $799 for Queen and $999 for King. These are old U.S. figures, not current prices or a reliable estimate for another region. The same guide’s 17¾-inch thickness and configuration information should likewise be treated as historical rather than assumed to describe a current listing.
What did IKEA’s warranty cover?
IKEA’s U.S. guide from August 2020 listed a 25-year limited warranty. IKEA’s Bahrain announcement and its 2018 press kit also referred to a 25-year guarantee. These historical statements do not establish current warranty terms, exclusions, eligibility, or coverage for a mattress bought today. Confirm the terms with IKEA in your country and match them to the exact product and purchase date.

What about the TISTEDAL mattress pad?
IKEA’s April 2018 press kit named the TISTEDAL mattress pad, made with natural latex, as an accessory for HIDRASUND. IKEA said it could add comfort and extend the mattress’s life; the source offers no independent measurement of a lifespan increase. Availability and compatibility should be checked locally before considering it.
Who should consider HIDRASUND?
HIDRASUND may be worth investigating if you specifically want the construction IKEA described: a tall, one-sided pocket-spring mattress using a mix of natural materials, with two spring layers and five intended comfort zones. But the historical specifications do not tell you whether a particular sleeper will like its feel, and there is no independent performance evidence here to support a firm recommendation.

The practical verdict is to treat HIDRASUND as a historically documented design, not a currently verified buying option. If it appears in your market, confirm the exact model, size, firmness, condition, price, trial or return terms, and local warranty before deciding.
