The Garmin Forerunner 55 is the Garmin watch behind the $129 deal reported on August 26, 2026. That price was reported as 35% below the article’s stated $200 usual retail price, but it is a dated offer—not a confirmed current price. The Forerunner 55 is a basic GPS running smartwatch worth considering if you want running-focused features without starting with a more feature-heavy model.

Which Garmin watch was $129?

It was the Garmin Forerunner 55, a GPS running smartwatch. Garmin identifies the model by part number 010-02562-00 on its product page. Android Police, in an article republished by Yahoo Tech on August 26, 2026, reported a $129 offer against a stated usual retail price of $200. That report does not establish that the same price or stock is available now, so check the retailer’s live listing before buying.

What does the Forerunner 55 offer?

The Forerunner 55 is built around running rather than serving as an all-purpose smartwatch. The article describing the deal lists built-in GPS, wrist-based heart-rate monitoring, Garmin Coach, suggested workouts, smartphone notifications and Connect IQ access. Those features make it a practical starting point for someone who wants guided running tools and core smartwatch functions. The recommendation is an editorial judgment, not a guarantee that it suits every beginner.

How long does its battery last?

Garmin’s specifications and owner’s manual state up to 14 days in smartwatch mode and up to 20 hours in GPS mode. These are manufacturer maximum estimates, not guaranteed real-world runtimes; actual battery life can vary with use and settings. See Garmin’s Forerunner 55 specifications and owner’s manual.

Will it fit your wrist and routine?

Garmin lists a weight of 37 g, a sunlight-visible transflective MIP display, a 5 ATM water rating and compatibility with 20 mm industry-standard quick-release bands. These are manufacturer specifications; try the watch on if fit or display preference is a deciding factor. The 5 ATM rating is the stated water-resistance classification, not a promise that every water activity or condition is suitable.

Who should consider it?

  • Consider it if you want a dedicated running watch with GPS, guided training features and phone notifications, and the live price fits your budget.
  • Look beyond it if your priority is a broader lifestyle smartwatch experience or you need specific capabilities not established in the listed features.
  • Compare before buying if you are choosing among Garmin models: Garmin’s comparison page lets you assess differences in battery estimates, display, weight and training features.

The available specifications and deal coverage do not establish independent GPS or heart-rate accuracy, durability in testing, or that this is the best watch for all first-time smartwatch buyers.
