Yes—if you want a compact clamshell phone and will use its folding design, cover display, or flexible camera positioning. The 2025 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is less convincing if your priorities are long battery life, optical zoom, or running a broad range of apps without opening the phone. “Samsung Flip” can mean several generations; this review covers the regular Z Flip7, not the separate Z Flip7 FE.
What makes the Galaxy Z Flip7 different?
The main draw is not a conventional spec-sheet advantage: the phone folds in half. Closed, it is easier to carry in a pocket; open, it has a large screen; and its hinge can hold the phone at an angle for hands-free framing. Whether that is worthwhile depends on how often you will use those behaviors.
Samsung lists a 6.9-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, plus a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display with 60/120Hz refresh. Samsung notes that rounded corners and the camera opening reduce the viewable area relative to the full rectangular diagonal. The cover display is useful for glanceable information and some interactions, but independent reviews describe limits to app flexibility; do not assume it replaces the inner screen for every task. Samsung’s specifications and announcement describe the displays and hardware.

The phone measures 75.2 × 85.5 × 13.7 mm when folded and 75.2 × 166.7 × 6.5 mm when unfolded; listed weight is 188 g, subject to regional variation. Those measurements capture the trade-off: it is short when shut, but thicker than a conventional phone in a pocket.
How good is its battery life?
Samsung specifies a 4,300mAh battery and claims up to 31 hours of video playback. That is Samsung Electronics’ 2025 manufacturer figure under its test conditions, not a typical mixed-use estimate. Capacity alone does not establish how long the phone will last in your routine.
Independent reviews are more cautious. Android Central says endurance is not a substantial improvement over the Flip6 and describes average battery life. TechRadar also raises battery concerns. The Guardian reported about 36 hours between charges in its own mixed 5G/Wi-Fi test, with roughly six hours of active screen use, and said heavy users would generally need nightly charging. That is one reviewer’s result, not a guarantee for other networks, settings, or workloads. If you regularly game, record video, use mobile data heavily, or need a full high-load day without charging, battery endurance is a reason to consider a conventional phone or compare same-condition tests.

- Model name: Galaxy Z Flip7
- Operating system: Android 16
- Display Size: 6.9 inches
- Cellular technology: 5G
- Storage Capacity: 512GB of internal storage provides ample space for apps, photos, videos, and files without worrying about running out of memory
Are the cameras good enough?
The rear setup is a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera, according to Samsung. There is no dedicated telephoto camera, so this is not the most versatile choice if you often want optical zoom or distant-subject shots. A conventional flagship with telephoto hardware may serve that use better.
The folding design adds options rather than extra lenses: you can use the rear cameras for selfies and prop the phone at an angle for hands-free photos or video. Those conveniences may matter more to people who take group photos, make casual videos, or want flexible framing than to buyers seeking the widest possible camera range. TechRadar’s review likewise notes the lack of telephoto hardware while highlighting uses enabled by the form factor.
What do reviewers agree—and disagree—on?
Android Central characterizes the Z Flip7 as an incremental upgrade with strong build quality and core features, but says performance and battery life have not advanced substantially and cover-screen app use remains limited. Its buy guidance favors people who value Samsung’s foldable build and support without expecting to use full apps on the cover frequently.
TechRadar is more enthusiastic about the folding experience and enlarged cover display, drawing on a two-week primary-phone test, while also flagging battery and camera limitations. The Guardian calls it iterative despite its looks and appeal. The difference is largely about how much practical value each reviewer assigns to the form factor; there is no single review verdict that will fit every buyer.

How durable is it, and how long will it get updates?
Samsung lists an IP48 rating for water resistance and dust protection. That rating is not a promise that the phone is waterproof, dustproof, or immune to impact damage; use the rating as a defined protection classification, not as permission to expose a foldable to harsh conditions.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip Product Environmental Report states seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. This is Samsung’s stated support policy, not a guarantee of an individual handset’s physical lifespan or an assurance that every future feature will be available in every region. The report does not establish a quantified long-term hinge failure rate.

Compare the phone against your actual use rather than treating any reviewer’s winner as universal. The Motorola Razr Ultra/Razr 60 Ultra is a direct foldable alternative; a conventional phone such as the Galaxy S25 Plus avoids the clamshell form and may be a better fit if camera versatility or endurance matters more. Reviews discuss different strengths across speed, battery, cameras, cover-screen software, and price, so check current local models and pricing rather than relying on launch-era figures.
Quick Recap
| What matters most | When the Z Flip7 makes sense | What to check in an alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Foldability and carrying | You value a phone that closes into a shorter, pocketable shape and will use the hinge. | Compare a current Razr if you want a clamshell, or a conventional flagship if folding is not useful to you. |
| Cover-screen use | Glances and selected interactions are enough; you are comfortable opening the phone for more. | Try the current software experience if you need broad app access while the phone stays closed. |
| Battery | Your normal workload allows for charging when needed. | Compare independent tests under similar workloads if you need dependable heavy-use endurance. |
| Photography | Main and ultra-wide cameras cover your usual shots, and flexible positioning is appealing. | Look for dedicated telephoto hardware if optical zoom is important. |
| Price and value | The current local price feels worth paying for the foldable design. | Check unlocked and carrier prices, storage, and promotions in your region; the $1,099 US 256GB starting price cited by TechRadar in 2025 is a launch-era figure, not a current quote. |
What should you check before ordering?
- Confirm the exact model: this assessment is for the Galaxy Z Flip7, not the Z Flip7 FE or an older generation.
- Consider whether the folded shape and cover display solve a real daily-use problem for you.
- Check whether battery demands and the absence of a telephoto camera match your priorities.
- Verify the price and storage configuration for your market. A US launch-era price is not a reliable current retail price.
- Check the seller’s package contents. Samsung’s US specification sheet says the 25W charger and wireless charger are sold separately; contents can vary by market or seller. Samsung’s US specification sheet gives that qualification.
